New cliffjump record

I think it says he landed on his side because he had something in his backpack that would have snapped his spine. In any case, the dude's description makes it he sound like he was in control the whole time, except for his ski tips getting pushed up by the wind.

it is official. he missed his line and aired some exposure and somehow caught tranny. bombholed huge and got dug out.

my friend in AK witnessed the (unplanned) event.

Jamie Pierre will always hold the record in my heart! but those pix were pretty fucking intense and that cliff was HUGE!

by looking at the pictures, you can allready tell hes a better skier then jamie pierre, which leads me to believe he wouldn't intend on doing that, i believe it looks legit, but it goods to hear he didn't intend on hucking 320it, "nestea plunges" are just as bad as stand still take off's in my books and jamies guilty of 2 of them, this guy charged into it"by accident" relized he was commited, commited to it and let her fly, jamie's record is a fucking joke now. stoked you lived threw it man.

this guy sounds down to earth and he isnt thanking jesus for his life unlike pierre, i cant wait for a video

300 ft eh

in my day, when skiing was skiing and men were men 300 ft was jpart of my every day route to work

infact people really only started to get nervous at a thousand and eve then 4 and 5000 were not unheard of

this kid is nothing more thna a scally wagger

and 42 is stil young im truning 115

Seth's double front in the Selkirks in Believe was around 150 feet and he landed on his feet, which led to a broken rib, cracked full face helmet and I think he sheered a 916 off his ski? Crazy.

He asked for the record for a CLEAN landing. Seth got destroyed on that huck. Even so, Seth is a nut job, huck had to be mentioned, and the huck was flawless. Smooth double front to feet. That is balls. There's no official record, but I'd say Hugo Harrison holds the biggest cliff stomp. In either focused, or in the hit list. Here's the one in the hit list. About 30 sec in.

About 60 ft. Also in push he stomps one going super fast. Heres the vid. http://youtube.com/watch?v=nDoVcfHOlpk&feature=related About a minute in, he has about the most robotic stomp I've ever seen.

I'm with ya on that, even before seeing the first clip I knew which drop you were talking about, the first time I saw that I was shocked that he stomped it to his feet and kept skiing so fast, he is an amazing skier, one of my faves, so powerful. I wonder how much weight he squats to have legs that strong.

On a semi related note, how big do you think that cliff that Seth sticks a clean backflip off in Focused is? That is the most impressive stomped invert I've seen off a big cliff.

this is funny to me because jamie pierre probably spent so much time pondering his world record and then two years later a guy one ups his life's work by accident

julian carr needs his balls removed before they grow to the size of watermelons and rip off, seriously, dude is a psyco

Norwegian television did an interview with him during Ekstremsportveko (Extreme sport week). That is however in norwegian, so most here wouldn't understand it, but I'll post the link anyways:

http://www1.nrk.no/nett-tv/klipp/383976

The segment about Fred starts at 7min, the interview about the jump at about 9min. There's some skiing in there as well, but no footage of the jump, only the photos.

heres a part of that areticle

"......but many members of the newschoolers.com community are not supporting this record claiming "pics or it didnt happen" this is sparking debate on if there should be rules for setting records such as: no backslap, riding away from bombhole without help or losing ski, or if pictures and/or video evidence must be provided...."

If this really happened why am I reading about in a forum and not in the NS news. I think it's BS. If I'm wrong NS better write a story on it soon.

So, at this point all of the skeptics need to shut up and admit that yeah, this guy did it, and furthermore, he's a fucking badass because he kept his shit together and sent it when there was no other choice- and it saved his life. I'm pretty sure that if anyone else who posted in this thread had been in the same situation, he or she would be dead as a doornail right now.

So now the question is.... is it really the new cliff jump record if he did it by accident? There's no way of proving this, but I'd wager a bet that people on skis have fallen off cliffs this big or bigger in the past and survived it. I'm not sure you can claim a record if you weren't planning on hitting the cliff in the first place.

Example: the fastest 100m sprint in the world wasn't run in a stadium, it was run by some guy in africa running away from a lion... or maybe a Tarahumara Indian in Mexico running from a flash flood.

Then again, the fact that there's tangible proof of the jump is enough to call it a record...

All of that said, Fred is pretty much my favorite person in the world right now. Right on buddy, I'm glad you're alive to tell about it!

jamie pierre......mental for convincing himself to jump off a 245 foot cliff.

this dude..... retarded for losing his line in that area.

Please tell me this means people will start looking for 350 foot cliffs to throw themselves off. Let the fun begin. I cant believe theres no video of this.

You are totally right, being in the newspaper and Norwegian national TV, it gotta be fake, aint legit before its on an American internet page that focus on park skiing, right?

Mariob, and any others asking for pictures: Seriously, read the thread. More specifically, page three or four.

Atypical, and any others asking for video: What video there is of this will be in two videos this fall. One is Free Radicals' (Swedish film group/company) film of the year, the other is a "Perfect Moment"-film by Thierry Donard.
