My school just banned rap music

no rap music or "club" dancing at any school events. im fucking pissed how are they going to do that for senior year? 07 is boycotting our homecoming now and renting out another building and having our own dance. fuck my school
 
Rap sucks anyway, I wouldn't be too bummed about it. And don't blame the school, blame the over-protective parents that I'm sure played a huge part in the decision.
 
Just let it go man, its school. Theyve always had dumb rules, like no rap music. but What about hip-hop? It speaks a message, hip hop is a culture. Most Rap/pop music is all corporate owned shit talkin music. Like Lil Jon, or 50 cent on the radio. All bullshit.
 
you think the school gives a fuck about the difference between rap and hip hop. i know the difference i know more than enough about hip hop and have a bigger collection that most people do. this is about the dances though man, they are going to be lame as fuck if you cant grind at all and have rap playing. i dont know about you but i sure as hell dont like dancing to rascal flats

My old HS made national news 3 years ago for no, "dirty dancing" and they were strickly enforcing it. They made a 3" or some shit rule and yeah it was gay, no one went to dances after that. Kids got suspended from school if they were caught, not just kicked out
 
Haha, my school was on CNN or something for the "bump 'n grind" that was going on at this year's prom. Apparently the mormons weren't into it.
 
that's from the declaration of independence, it doesn't really make it illegal for someone to encroach upon your persuit of happiness. Even the rights protected under the Constitution dont apply untill you're legally an adult, and most HS kids aren't 18...sucks huh.
 
you know i was about to say the same thing... you know if they bann rap, that means more chance of like metal to be played or punk.. then thats when you mosh pit, and take out teachers... and in all acctuality, club music sucks ass too... ever been in a club, you hear the beggining of a song you like and they litterally rape all of what made the songs greatness right out of it... so be thankfull.
 
the boycott idea sounds great but ill bet no one is going to step out and make shit happen. your just either not going to go to the dance or go and complain about it.

at least this thread shows that you care enough to spend 3 minutes of your time writing about it.

in case the reverse phsychology didnt work here is a more direct aproach:

dont wait for others to do the other building. take care of it yourself. go up to people, make posters, banners, and soforth. find the cost and how many tickets your gonna have to sell and all that.

oh yeah im sure thankful, all the fine ass gothic bitches will be all over the dance now. im so excited.

^yeah a group of my friends are already calling during school to rent out a community center. shit will be tight if it goes down n no underclassmen or something like that. but im still pissed, i mean what about prom, or winter formal. shit will be weak

 
I think it would be kick ass to have prom with a pit. I think that would be way cooler than grinding to some generic billboard rap. But then again, I'm a unique person, just like everybody else.

why did they ban it? if it was because of grinding, prove them wrong and grind to whatever the hell they play.

is its because of content, there is plenty of rap that doesnt have "bad" content. and firgure out what they are playing, you

should be able to make an arguement that they have to ban other types of music under their arguement. classic rock has lots of bad shit in it, just look at the underlying messages.....

how about this argument: because we said so and were the school and we can ban whatever we want.

haha honestly, thing of how much cleaner dances would be without that crap? no grinding or dry humping, or in some cases, even sex in the middle of the effing dance floor. it bugs me to go to a dance and think you've accidentally arrived at a gang bang instead.

plus now they can play some stuff that i like. at junior prom the only song i recognized was "you shook me all night long", which is good, yet very played in the classic rock sense. sorry about the rant, but i'd like to have a dance where i actually know and enjoy the music. i want to hear at least one jazz song at my senior prom and see what people do.

it happened at my homecoming last year, we payed the shitty dj to play AFI and like 60 kids started a pit it was ill
 
that is stupid... i hate it how the school completely strips your freedoms... we cant eat sunflower seeds around school premisis cuz it makes trash.. wtf!
