My school just banned rap music

Write a very articulate letter explaining how ignorant the administration is and attach a cd of hip hop with clean lyrics and try to get as much media publicity as possible while remaining professional. If you keep your composure you will make your school look like a bunch of powertripping ignorant assholes while you look like a hero. Seriously.
 
that is fucking gay. how are you supposed to dance to rock or pop. rap is so good at dances, anything else just sucks
 
you should just play the most ahrdcore screamo and detah metal you can find all the time in the hall ways and everything to piss them off.  until they bann that too,a nd then somehitng wil happen so that they can't ban music and then you set back to having all oyur music.

yeah, i think i would definitely play the racist card, and say you'll have a suit filed immidietly following the dance, especially if its a public school, they could get fucked
 
just have a huge party at some kids house instead and boycott homecoming, try and get as many people as possible so like only the losers show up to homecoming.
 
ok maybe i didnt make this clear in fact i doubt i did because when i made this i heard over announcements like 10 minutes earlier. they are banning grinding at school dances and refuse to play rap at any dances because it causes grinding or some bullshit like that. i donno still is fucking gay
 
These things are what's wrong with America. Honestly, if we put as much effort into the actual problems as we did trying to cover them up, we would be fine.

People are so fucking stupid. Banning music, only makes the purpose stronger. If someone banned my favorite music from me, I would be pretty pissed off and possibly take an even stronger liking to it because I'm told I can't like it.

This is so fuckin wrong it's not even funny. I could see maybe not playing some songs at dances, but I mean come on. Banning a certain type of music is ridiculous. Rap doesn't hand the bag of coke to the cokehead, rap doesn't put the bullet in the gun, rap doesn't pull the trigger, idiots do. Why don't they try to show you what rap is about, the roots of it. Why it exists. Insetad of covering it up with this fuckin facade of it being wrong. Fuck people who think their music is better than someone else's or is right opposed to wrong. Fuck the parents who contributed to this decision. Ask your parents how they would like it if they banned their favorite music (classic rock probably?) from their school. People are so misconceived about how to solve things that it sickens me.

Ok, here's a serious answer. The same thing happened at my school last year after prom. Some people freaked out about the dancing and music, and prom was in question for the next year because of it (I didn't care too much because I am no longer in high school). So basically it was the mormons v. rational people in touch with youth culture. People realized that this was just the way things were for the newer generation and have accepted it--or done a good job pretending to. Just make a good argument for your cause and cite examples of how the older generation did the same thing back in the day and people will take your side. But most importantly, you must do it in a positive and constructive way.

That's kind of taking it out of context. While they may address the same issues, opera does it in a much more mature, subtle way. You don't hear people singing about fuckin' hos and cappin' nigs.
 
hey i've got myself a girlfriend, i don't need rap as an excuse to go dry hump her. i just don't care for the music, or for standing in a crowd of people who do.
 
yea, although this may seem like something new, its not, and happens all around every day. basically, if u believe in havong rap music strongly that u r willing to boycott the dance, i would say go for it, its at least worth a try. if not, i would just say live with it, ther is alot of music that u can dance too, its not like u can only dance to rap.
 
I find it hilariously ironic that you have a Rage icon, and they are probably one of the most anti-censorship bands out there.

You accept the fact that prom is going to be boring as hell, but enjoy the fact that you are going to get totally wasted and party hard at a huge party at some rich kids house. Or whatever.
 
It's a good thing public school boards don't waste their time with such trivial things as new textbooks or higher quality teachers. I can sleep easy knowing they are most concerned in where it counts the most...banning music.
 
There will never be enough. As long as lame disposable music exists, it will be the cool thing to listen to. Our job as headbangers is to rule over them all; eventually claiming world supremacy.

We can't even listen to music in my school, they banned all I-pods/Phones/Anything electronical really, but I can see how specifically banning rap is bullshit.
 
The solution is obviously an ultimatum.

Okay, so what you need to do is start telling the administration and all the parents that since there's no rap and you can't dance the way you want, you're all just not going to go to the dance. Instead, everyone's just going to go find a seedy motel room, or, failing that, an alley, or, failing that, a bush, and fuck. For hours. In some cases, in large groups. And you're not going to use a condom, either. No, no one likes condoms, they're inconvenient and uncomfortable and hard to put on when you're tripping balls on shrooms, meth, and whatever other substances your inability to grind and listen to rap has driven you to. If you get someone pregnant, no problem, they'll have had so much sex they won't know whose kid it is anyway, so there's no responsibility to take! They can just get abortion after abortion, and all the problems will disappear. Make it absolutely plain that the alternative to risque dancing is unbridled fucking and sucking the likes of which has never been seen, that you will defile their daughters (and, if you're drunk enough, their sons; I don't think anything would scare the piss out of a conservative parent more than that) until they walk bow-legged or until they give you back your rap music and your grinding.

See what they say.

No seriously, I'm really interested to find out.
