Here is my ranking of the top 4 cities that good produces good hip-hop.

1) New York, NY

Pretty obvious explanation...wu-tang, jay-z, biggie. So many people.

2) Los Angeles, CA

Tupac...along with all of compton

3) Seattle, WA

Artists like the Blue Scholars and Grynch are taking the hip-hop genre by storm. By far some of the best lyricism comes out of this city (trying to be unbiased here) and culture really shines through in the beats. I personally love the Seattle style because it's very unique.

4) Philadelphia, PA

The Roots are arguable one of the greatest hip-hop bands ever, and a similar-sounding, but all-live band Philadelphia Slick resides in the city as well. Illadelphia got soullll

5) Minneapolis, MN

Two bands stand out in my mind : Atmosphere and Doomtree. There are many more underground hip-hop artists all around the Midwest, though. All the hip-hop I've heard out of MN has been good, but I think the kids from there on NS can help you out with that more than I can.

Agree, disagree? What's your ranking?

well sorry, but yeah philly has a lot of good artists...j5? jmt?

and i have to say san fran is better than Minnesota.

1. Newyork- specifically queens bridge. you cant compair the rest of newyork to the bridge. NAS, Wu-Tang, AZ, and of course MOBB Deep. the rest of the city has some heavyweights but nothing like queens brige. and NOT biggie, yeah hes a good Mc but not even close to top 10, yeah hate it.

2. Not LA, for the same reason biggie wouldnt make the top 10. yes they bring some serious club bangers but the quality of the lyrics is just awfull, they are slowly changing but still have a long way to go.

instead i choose chicago. they have one of the best no sorry THEE best conscious Mc, common and you cant doubt that. and kanye west but not as a Mc but as a producer. he just doesnt have the complex rhyme schemes.

since writing this im sure they have been many additions to this thread that make my post redundant but i just feel this is worth saying.

also remember "everything that glitters aint gold, and every gold record doesnt glitter thats for damn sure" - Binary Star

hahahaha good, he hardly changes his flow and style. i would choose 3/4 of the wu-tang over him, open your eyes, he does does have some good aspects but he does hardly anything above average.

seatle... wtf? maybe if your talking about grunge.

but take out seatle and bump up philly and minneapolis and there's my top 4.

#1 Chicago- Lupe, Kanye, Cool Kids, Common, Do or Die, Kidz in the Hall (everyone loves the clown school Gang! edit), and twista and R. Kelly.

Fin.

blue scholars?

common market?

yeah those guys are great at grunge

dont forget brother ali from MN

1. Chicago: Common Sense, Lupe, Kanye (production), cool kids, and I guess chicago could claim Black Star in a way.

2. New York: a tribe called quest, Mobb Deep, Jay, Junior MAFIA, Biggie smalls, De la soul, NAS, the list goes on and on

3. THE BAY: most indepedent region of hip hop because of hyphy. E40, mac dre, andre nikatina, HIEROGLYPHICS (souls of mischief, DEL), Living legends (most), zion I, keak, TOO $HORT.

4. Atlanta: OUTKAST, OUTKAST, OUTKAST.

Yup, just the fact that Bone thugz is from there means it should be on the list, illest group ever..

Their new album "Uni 5" with all 5 members is going to be amazing , comes out in like june 09 which is soon.

one song? yeah im sure their are a few more without a doubt but just realize more often than not hes keeping it the same, like its all the same beat.

I listen to a LOT of hip-hop. I was born in DC and raised in NY, so I follow EC hip-hop as well. I listen to quite a bit of it, actually. You should listen to all the bands on Massline records, they are still relatively underground (other than Blue Scholars) and are my favorite bands as well.

no you're just a fool.

sabzi = one of the best producers in the game right now, & RA scion and geo hit hard.

other kingpin dunny seattlietes takin ova: dyme def, serge severe, the physics

sorry, but I don't know how you can have chicago over ny with what you listed, not to mention you missed a ton

all right. fair enough. i guess i should listen to some massline records before i make my judgment.

wow why can't more people be like that

you realize wu tang and az aren't from the bridge, right? i'm assuming that's what you meant with this list.
