i have to say the bay with zion i and others like him are good but the whole hyphy shit with mac dre and e 40 is crap
 
I dont think you can break it down to cities. My top 4 list for the country would be.

1. East coast- Nas, Jay Z, Cassidy, Biggie, Wu Tang, The Roots.

2. West Coast- Tupac, Snoop, Dre., Eazy, The game, Ice Cube.

3. Mid West- Bone thugs, Kanye, Common, Lupe, Kid cudi, cool kids.

4. South- Outkast, Ludacris, Lil Wayne, Young Jeezy.
 
i lol at you... those are examples, obviously he's missing bands like Atmosphere but those (with the exception of lil wayne) are all solid rappers
 
I don't really care what you do for a living. Jay Z, Dre, The Game, Kanye, Common, Lupe, Kid cudi, cool kids, Outkast, Ludacris, Lil Wayne, and Young Jeezy are all terrible. You didn't have Technique, Ill Bill, AOTP, JMT, Celph, Blue Scholars, Tonedeff, or anyone good like that. All mainstream as fuck, which makes a lot of sense because based on your comment you probably have some low-mid level but unimportant position in some facet of the music industry, which doesn't really mean shit except that your helping to perpetuate all he bullshit on MTV these days anyway.
 
I bet you think that you are so damn cool because you don't listen to mainstreem. There is nothing wrong with dre and common. They write good lyrics and have good music.

 
You have to be brain dead to write Jayz is shit, dre is shit, outkast is shit. While they are all mainstream and mayeb you dont like them. They make money and put people in seats. Thats what i am worried about. But I can 100% say that each one of those artists that i wrote all put out great songs.

People with your mindset piss me off. Actually most of NS does, mainstream pisses you guys off and they think they arent cool unless they listen to underground. FUCK THAT NS, you guys need to learn famous artists are still good, you may have to sift through some bullshit songs, but on every album they still have solid good music.
 
Actually yes, I am cool. Thank you for noticing. I've got nothing against Dre really he launched Snoop and was in NWA who were awesome, but he's not a very good rapper himself, he should stick to producing. Common is just really bad.
 
Actually most mainstream artists are not good at all, its just heartless over produced bullshit. Of course there are exceptions, I love me some RHCP, and you could probably call Sublime mainstream, and I think they are probably the greatest band ever. And Ill get down to some Beatles or whatever, I love John Lennon. 90% of anything on the radio or tv is fucking really really bad though.

And Jay Z is obviously shit, he did a mash up album with Linkin Park for fuck's sake.
 
And I wasn't really arguing that mainstream music is bad anyway, I was just pointing out that your list was bad because a bunch of those rappers suck way more than so many groups. I mean, you could have had Celph Titled or The Coup instead of Jay Z, but you probably haven't even heard of them. Making your list bad, because The Gatalog is obviously a better album than whatever random shit feat. Beyonce Jay Z last put out.
 
I don't know if i would put Toronto in the top 5 but it definitely holds its own. We got drake who is pretty much holding down Young Money right now while Wayne is off doing his bullshit rock stuff. NS's favorite rapper DL Incognito and another skiers favorite in Classified.

you obviously dont know shit about 90 percent of his list, all of those artists are amazing with like two exceptions. learn your history before you come talking big about hip hop. you are talking new age hip hop that you think is sooo legit cause its underground, when it really isnt even that anymore.

go listen to some pre 2003 stuff from any of those artists then shut your mouth. you are talking shit about some of the people that created rap and hip hop.

and Minneapolis deserves to be on a list for sure i just thought it didnt really belong on the original.
 
most "mainstream" rappers are better than all the cool underground ones you ignorant kids who knowing nothing about rap culture seem to think are the best.
 
Seattle shouldn't be on this list.

Sure its been blowing up with the scholars/market, but if your going to take the whole hip-hop movement into mind, there are so many more cities with so much more contribution than Seattle.

Same thing with minniapolis, and all the canadian cities named. They have done nothing for rap looking at the bigger picture.
 
Tupac didn't live in LA til he was famous. he actually grew up mostly on the east coast. first nyc then Baltimore. Then he moved to Oakland in his later teen years.

How about the '90s?Your just looking at its recent contributions, and although they're some of my favorite artists as well, you can't even compare it's contribution to the overall hip-hop movement to any of the classic cities repeatedly posted in this thread.

old outkast is on point flow with great beats, we arent talking mrs. jackson here...try atliens or two dope boys for a start.

and same with jay z, you are a smart kid from what i have seen, so do some research...jay z has some incredible music out there if you look around. it isnt all "big pimpin"...

lupe is ok, he can hang, but yeah him and common are kinda out there for that list....and kid cudi..cmon.
