A lot of the companies people "volunteer" with these days are like 800+ a week.

Idk. Imo either volunteer or take a vacation. The volunteering programs aren't a sick vacation from the looks, and people aren't bringing anything to the table so aren't really volunteering.

People can spend money on whatever but it just seems scammy.

Yeah I agree. I got an email from work peeps to go volunteer in South America, and I was like sure how much (for flight and hotel and transport)? $3k they say... LOL. It doesn't cost that much no thanks.
