MSU crew in fall 2013

Ok sorry for so many questions but I am trying to get as much info as possible before I leave...

I met a guy on a chairlift who lived in Bozeman and he said Bridger would be really shitty for snowboarding because it's a lot of traversing? But I'm trying to ride some terrain and not just park or tree runs and shit so I feel like riding at Bridger is a good idea?
 
I think im getting a pass to bridger when i move out there and i snowboard... Im sure there is good shit without traversing, i kind of want a splitboard though.
 
Do you know anything about splitboarding there?! Because I demoed one this season and loved it and would love to do it out there.
 
got my dorm assignment I'm in roskie. driving up from tahoe in my jeep sometime around orientation time. cant wait to get out of california. anyone who needs a ride to bridger is welcome in my car too
 
there's a ton of reasons, but i've always thought MSU's insanely easy to get accepted into... yet a respectable and competitive school in many departments.

people also don't feel rushed. take me, for example. i'm on a 5 (maybe more) year plan and am saving money by spending a year establishing residency. because of this, essentially, year off school, i get to do fun things... like ski, bike, ski, bike, work, get my EMT, travel to chile, and do ski patrol. hardly a bad deal, even though i'm no longer a part of 4 year graduation class.

 
you'll meet tons of kids who shred up here. especially at the beginning of the season when swifty park isn't open yet so everyone just hikes swifty 2.0. Very fun group of people up here and everyone is nice, radical and down to shred with others
 
There is plenty of shit that you don't have to traverse to that is burly at both Big Sky and Moonlight. You have the whole headwaters area at Moonlight which range from your basic steep chute to gnarly cliffs and tight, intriguing lines. Big Sky has the tram which is too much fun, the A-Z chutes (right on the other side of the moonlight headwaters), challenger, the south face etc. etc. If you actually look, there are plenty of things to get gnarly on at places other than Bridger, and many of which will be a hell of a lot better on a snowboard than Bridger will be.

Just dont get a bridger pass in general in my opinion. Bridger is an awesome mountain and if tons of fun, Big Sky just has more to ski and is just better all around.

Yeah you can't beat how close Bridger is, but just work your classes so you can get the most skiing possible and with the bus being $3 round trip there's no reason why you shouldnt get a Big Sky pass over a Bridger one.

I am also spoiled because of all Big Sky's express lifts, and the fact that at Big Sky you don't have to hike to get to gnarly stuff.

And the fact that its not a total disaster on pow days. 2 hour slushmans lines? No thanks.

Bridger has some incredible terrain, but some big drawbacks too.
 
snowboarding isnt bad at bridger, but theres definitely stuff youll want to avoid. the pod works really well in my experience, all of my closest friends are in my pod or floor
 
just waiting on the letter. sent my app in after i visited a few weeks ago. Do most msu students ski bridger or big sky?
 
nevermind about Big Sky, I skied Moonlight today and bought a college pass, couldn't be more stoked to ski there next season. Who else is skiing there? I saw many NS stickerrs, and it's got great vibes and the shortest lift lines...

and on Monday I'm going to commit to MSU, and hopefully confirm a room in Roskie, is anyone down to room when someone who wants to ski Moonlight as much as possible? PM me
 
What's up with Moonlight?! Can anyone legititimatet drop some info on pass prices for big Sky and Moonlight? And what you thin the better option is.??
 
Moonlight passes are $319 until April 30th and Big Sky passes are most likely going to cost a fair amount more. Moonlight has literally no lines and an unreal vibe but the good terrain requires a hike and there's not as much of it. The park at Moonlight is sick in my opinion but there were only 3 jumps last time I was there. Big Sky is similar but more expensive and there's more sick terrain and the park is a little larger. If you can afford it, I would say definitely go Big Sky. You also can't go wrong with Moonlight though.
 
go with Moonlight man, $319 pass, I literally skied onto every lift and the park was cool, but I don't feel like I'll be skiing much park next season haha
 
I'll have both a Big Sky and Moonlight pass next year, imo if you have to choose between the 2 Big Sky is well worth the extra bucks, there is just so much more to ski, but the deal at Moonlight is banger. Both are ridiculously not crowded and both mountains have a lot to offer. Big Sky just has more gnarly stuff that you don't have to hike to, and just all around more terrain. But either are better than Bridger ;]
 
I think im still going wity a bridger pass, is the ridge pretty accessible for snowboarders? Or is it all traversing?
 
everyone I've talked to has said Moonlight is the best. It was really fun today, but I haven't been anywhere else so I can't compare

The lifts serving the parks a both Big Sky and Moonlight are the main lifts so you just ski on some groomers for a little bit to get to the park.
 
the six pack at Moonlight has some really fun skiing above the park, either a steep section or some tree skiing, but after the park it's a short flat run to the lift, it's not that bad and it's awesome that the lift goes above the park
