To the op, go ride 27 or 38, Duthie only has two good things

You are correct. Vail is fun, cheaper than winterpark key or solvista, and there is some fun to be had there. Definitely a good choice for someone looking for a mellow day or someone getting into it - unfortunate that they closed their DH course (at least last season) but it's still badass

i would ride there solely for the wide open single track fun. super good mountain to burn and coast all day.

I do a lot of xc mountain biking during the summer. I've always wanted to do some DH but I don't have money for another bike, theres nowhere locally I can do it, and I don't have the balls to do it haha.

i have the same exact bike. it's bomb proof for sure compared to how bikes used to be... here's me shredding in green river with it.

btw highland is incredible. i got to work on the trails there when they first opened and after returning this past summer... gotta say mark is slaying and its probably the best thing to happen to the east free riding scene since... ever. nice little fact about highland is that it was one of the first mountains to ever have a halfpipe... which you now ride through on threshold i believe is the trail. what trails are you able to rip on with your slayer?

My mountain is opening a bike park this summer so I'm planning on getting back into DH. It's been two years or so for me. I definitely want to get out to Mammoth or Northstar for some riding, too.

The greens are really just fast, turny XC, so they're easy. I can cruise all the blues pretty comfortably, never really got around to trying any of the blacks this year. Definitely gonna try Maiden Voyage and Hemlock when I get the chance this year, although I dunno if I'll have much time in the five weeks of summer that I'll be limited to.

Just got my first decent mountain bike a couple weeks ago, and I'm loving it so far. I love getting into a new sport. Still have no idea what to think about components and even basic maintenance and stuff, but I'll learn. There are so many awesome aspects to progress in, and I don't even have to get in my car to ride some fun trails.

Loving the bike stoke in here! This thread pops up every spring more or less. We have an NS MTB cult, but it never seemed to take off really.

I ride, a LOT. 3-4x a week if the weather is decent. XC/AM type riding basically. Once or twice a year I'll run the lifts at Killington for some downhill on a borrowed bike.

Older bike, 2005 Cannondale Jekyll with a new fork as of last spring. Manitou Minute Super 140mm. Not the lightest, but she can handle the type of riding I do with ease and has been reliable for me. Bought it used for $600 with the hairs still on the tires. It was essentially brand new still.

Trail work day this Saturday too!

i had a 26" singlespeed and then my dad got a carver 96'er (26" rear wheel, 29" front) and i rode that a little and then like 2 years ago i picked up the vassago off ebay for dirt cheap

Word. I always get bored at Duthie so when I go there I usually just bring my camera and shoot. Trails at 38 are a little rough right now after winter, but 27 is pretty solid. There are a few new trails up at 27 now, so it's not just like Gem State, Oregon, B-Line and the Pro Line.
My bike is an 08 Stinky with MTX31's laced to Hope Pro II's, Saint shifter and deraileur, 2010 888 Evo's, Gravity Flat Bars, SRS+ chainguide, Atlas chainring, and then everything else is pretty much stock.

im saving up for a new mountain bike this summer... ive narrowed it down to the transition covert and the turner 5 spot.. anyone ridden either or got any advice?? i know the 5 spot is a bit more, but this will be my bike for the next like 5 years or so, so im willing to spend more for the best i can get.

sorry dub post. but yeah i love fogelsodes. to bad he hurt his ____ (im not sure, i saw him at sea otter on crutches).
is anyone else on here also a member of pinkbike?

depends on what components each has... if you post up a pic of each then you can really get good advice... i mean both are pretty similar as is.

Mountain biking is so cool, I've only done it on a trip to Moab a while ago, but I loved it (even though I was terrible. It's way harder than it looks). Reallllyyy fun though. I'd love to get more into it, but the cost and the fact that my only friend who did it regularly moved to Europe are major deterrents. I dunno.

Riding in the UK a while back. This is a trail near my house, and in no way representative of the actual standard of UK DH. For reference, the booters at the end are 7ft, 10ft and 15ft

If 5 hours is your determination of "ain't too far".

Unfortunately, resorts in WNY see no profit to be made from offering lift accessed biking.

go up I street and park next to the church. you'll probably see other cars there and its a short walk from there to the area. its larger than you think so walk everywhere. its def. a neat area.

Mountain Biking is what I do when I'm not skiing. I almost love it just as much when I get really into it in summer/autumn. I do mainly freeride and some downhill.

Best places I've been to are Whistler and Morzine. Whistler is AMAZING.

Riding in Scotland is pretty good to be honest, alot of XC and short DH tracks that are pretty damn gnarly.

I have a Giant Reign X1 full susser and a Cube hardtail.

I'd get some pics up but really can't be assed...
