What do you plan on riding? XC trails, light DH, dirtjumping, street, drops, stair gaps?

MRSP: $610.00 US

Seriously, if you aren't dirtjumping, hitting drops or stairgaps - the bikes specs certainly look respectable.

I'm going to warn you though, the bikes' parts with not withstand abuse. So as long as you are sure you will only be doing XC and riding it down the street, I'd say check it out for sure. Make sure you jump on it and take it for a spin first.

From reading some of the reviews that I linked, most everyone who owns one likes it alot for light riding. Make sure the type of riding they do matches your style of riding too.

I am not saying 'buy it' but rather 'check it out.'

The only downside is, it is on the heavy side from what I've read.

Hey man, it all depends on how and what your planning on riding. Living in BC, riding the rockhoper on anything more than the tamest xc it would get thrashed.

Live to ride..Ski to die

A Snipes or Evil (hell the imperial costs more than the entire bike he's looking at), isn't the kind of frame/bike the guy is looking for.

He just wants a bike for XC and riding around. Not everyone is going to put down a couple g's on a custom hardtail.

i live in NJ, nowhere near the same terrian as BC (i was there last summer and it was some awsome stuff out there to ride) im not jsut gonna ride this bike down the street, i will br droppin some pretty good stuff maybe like.. 4-6 feet but i will still be usin it to go down the street, XC almost everyweekend, and really using it and not just letting it sit in my garage and collect dust

its all about the 609

now, i was lookin on the Haro site at really lookin at the Escape series. How would they be for the type of riding im planning on doing?

its all about the 609

yah i will deffinatley agree that they would be the wrong kinda of bike, specially since it does cost to build up a full bike...and thats not reasonable if you just want to ride xc

but elementals are localy made in victoria BC man..i know the guys who build them

Live to ride..Ski to die

haro deffinatlely makes some good bikes...and it all depends on how smooth a rider you are...like the trials riders, ryan leech they can do like 15plus drops on rigid bike np...

Live to ride..Ski to die

Well then you maybe want to do some more looking around, cause that bike will probably not survive 6 foot drops on a reg. basis.

Remember what you give up in weight you lose in strength... so your probably not looking at a weight weenie XC bike.

The following is a short list of bikes that may interest you (including links to manufacturers websites); they are definatley not XC race worthy bikes.. but you can easily still ride them on XC trails while at the same time they are able to withstand abuse.

- Specialized P2 ($770)

- Kona Stuff ($899 US)

- Norco 125 ($1350 CAN)

I'm building up a Banshee Morphine. It's gonna be so fucking phat. Putting Z150 fork on it. When I get it built I'll post a pic

get a kona shred or a hardrock pro those are pretty much all-around bikes and theyre not too expensive.

I hit a 14fter on my old kona nunu, my forks snapped at the stantions and i broke my collarbone, but the frame was fine. Look at the kona dude. Go and try some bikes out.

the p2's are not good xc bikes though. If you know you will be riding for years to come, Just by a bike that is great at one area of riding. If you XC a lot, get a good xc bike. Then sell some plasma and work and extra job, and build up a urban/freeride bike. An urban bike is cheaper to build usually and you will go through more stuff. I ride a fuel 98 for my xc bike and i have a P2 for urban and dirtjumping.

mmmmmm snow goood

Check out a Surly Instigator - beefy frame, decent price for a complete setup.

Hippies - they want to save the world, but all they do is smoke pot and smell bad.
