Most Overated bands of all time

40ozKid made the thread about the most underated bands, and while reading it, I got the idea to make a thread about the oppposite. so what do you think the most overated bands are?

I'd have to say rolling stones.

Black eyed peas because they suck so much. Their lyrics suck, and they don't deserve a record deal. The smae goes to all those crappy pop groups(N sync and back street boys...they all suck)

Imagine the ns outcry if u(lateralis) were banned. There would be countless threads and petitions to bring u back, it would be like when treadway got banned from whistler. Someone would probably make and sell 'Free Lateralis' stickers and shit. -j

the fucking rolling stones?!? are you kidding me. wow. you may not like them but you can't for a second say that they haven't deserved all the attention that they have. most definately among the most influential bands ever, and listed by many as not one of the the best but, THE best band in history. i personally am not the biggest marley or dylan fan, but i'd be a complete moron to say that they are overrated.

i personally don't think jay z is that amazing, but i don't know enough about the extent of his influence to really value even my own opinion on the matter

the beatles. i like the beatles but they really didn't invent rock and roll at all. that happened a few years before the beatles came around. and they didn't start the pyschedelic movement either, they just butchered it.

thats like the latest of there old stuff... before that they were really thrash metal and the guy diddnt have the deap strong voice that he uses it was more raw and rugged and not so low.

i would bet $100 that all of these shitheads hate metallica because of Lars Ulrich and the napster thing. maybe if you guys listened to some of their music (pre black album) you would gain some respect and quit bitching about napster. you still get your free shit from kazaa and whatever other ones there are.

 
^i give them a chance ever time "when metallica ruled the world" or "when metal ruled the world" is on vh1 but all of their shit sucks and i get so pissed at them. then the whole napster thing make the guy more of a tool

i have to say that i like hendrix, the stones, and metallica. sure sometimes i hate some of metallica's stuff, but you have to respect a band for how long they've lasted. when i think of a over-rated band i think of a lot of one hit wonders. but none of these bands are one hit wonders. i personally can't stand maroon 5 or hoobastink. they're whack.

right but i don't think any of those bands are that well rated, they're just popular. however, some bands are so proliferated that of course they're going to be highly influential.

And on that note, fuck anybody who thinks that the Beatles are better than the stones. The Beatles never really did anything groundbreaking!!! WAKE UP! They came over here as pop sensations and rode that wave through every stage of rock. They didnt start the whole craze of writing songs on acid. They werent some innovator in the peace process. Not that i can complain that they tried to do humanitarian work but they just seemed very trendy to me.

I have heard every beatles song recorded and distributed. in fact i love the beatles and have spent over 100$ on a single record of their's. they're good and I enjoy their music but what makes them the best band of all time??? as i pointed out before they really DIDN'T progress music that much. they brought rock into the mainstream, they didn't invent it. and frankly, i could care less if rock and roll were mainstream or not. they are all decent musicians, but the best? i wouldn't say so. I can think of better song writers, and better musicians. saying they are OVERRATED doesn't mean they aren't good.

as I stated in my previous post........ being overrated doesn't mean they aren't good. they are good, they just aren't the greatest band of all time- which is what they are known to most as. which in my opinion makes them overrated.

beatles aren't famous for being the best band. they started a revolution called the british invasion which pretty much, music wouldn't be where it is without it. so yeah they are known for being that, not so much the best band.
