yes my dad does think the beatles are overrated, and i was explaining that, yeah, i didn't live through it... but i've talked to someone who IN it.

-Lauren

i think rush is really overrated i was reading my guitar magazine and everyoine was raving about alex lifesons guitaring being so special and shit but their music is so fucking annoyign with all the random interludes and fills. i really thinkg theyre waaaaaaaay overrated

in my phone book theres a guy with the name of Harry Surprise.. - Jibvermont

give up? i made my argument. and beyond my opinion which may differ from the majority but that tends to happen a lot--- the beatles are easily outplayed/written by endless musicians of their time and now. and that's just a fact. denying that would make you musically ignorant. and that's the basis my opinion. the ennnnnd

-Lauren

yep. almost all of them. there are a few good ones but not to many.

give some examples of your imginary bands with better written material, more influentual to most other modern bands, and just apparently better.

you got shit. everything you can say are just as disputable as the beatles. actually less. more people think the beatles were the greatest band than the ammount of people you could get to say that for any other band you're thinking of.

Dave Matthews band. If you just take a minute and listen to their songs, the lyrics are shit because it's some guy who can hardly say a word, nevermind with the music. And My Chemical Romance because they are just a bunch of whining, song butchering, tight pant wearing pussies.

I have to add that I think Damian Marley is over rated.

No I'm talking about the 2 disc set Led Zepelin. The Song Remains the Same isn't nearly as good as this.

And for most overrated I'd have to say Dave Matthews, he's decent, but regarded as a god in all the rich white towns like mine

Yes I am actually serious, I personally hate the rolling stones as a band. Also other bands like the animals, mandred mann's earth band, and the yardbirds suck. And to who ever said something about Sabbath, i don't really group them into the british invasion category. The British invasion was basically pop music not hard rock. But I still think that Black Sabbath sucks.

To the people bashing Jimi Hendrix, The Rolling Stones, Led Zepplin, The Beatles, etc. If these bands/artits are overrated, who in you opinion is better?

i actually just looked at this this thread since the last time this was posted.

better than the beatles?

oh well LET'S SEE:

led zeppelin, cream, quicksilver, king crimson, the rolling stones, the grateful dead, the band, pink floyd, the hendrix experience, CSNY, the doors, the yardbirds, the kinks, the animals, jefferson airplane, van morrison.....

-Lauren

skogenjake you keep arguing that! why?! liking/thanking/respecting a band doesn't make them a better band. they're still the same band... if jim morrison jumped off a moving train i assume you would think that was a very good idea too?

-Lauren

i said the beatles. so you should say "if lennon jumped off of...".

and yes, if he was alive i probablly would...

sry i just havent had any NS arguments that dont consist of some kid freaking out about kicking my ass when i live 1000's of miles away. and i thought that defending the beatles as being an "overrated" band was worthy. they were really good. so i guess thats how im going to end it.

i think all those bands you listed are very good, but just cannot compare to the beatles. I like them all very much, but i think when you list those bands all it really comes down to is personal opinion, although if you are talking about talented musicians, well that may change the order around, but then again being a talented musician is completely different then being a talented song writer. By the way to thisangelicrage, you listen to some sweet music

Metallica may be overrated NOW but don't forget about the four INSANE albums they did before the Black Album.

No one with even a remote knowlege of the metal genre should deny that Metallica absolutely ruled and was greatly influential during their prime.

As for their recent albums, yes, they are horrendous. They got old, they lost their edge. They express their feelings in some psyciatrist's office now instead of unleasing their fury in the studio and on stage, which is not a good thing for a metal band.

So: overrated now? YES. Overrated in 1989? Fuck no!

Oh yeah, and how come no one, except Lauren, responded to my question about 10 posts up?

Whoecer said Zeppelin sucks live doesnt appreciate music. Page has the most amazing solos and they are amazing live. Just watch the live release or some bootlegs and you wil hear them tear it up on stage
