Mormons Gone Wild!

dont feel bad for him.

i understand him actually.

i've been exposed to some mormons out here in canada and just that alone stirs me up.

they can believe whatever they want but it's another story when my colleagues at work start telling me im going to hell because im not a mormon.

and has anyone watched the show big love? its an HBO series...its about polygamist mormons...really good show but completely disturbs me.

that show does not depict a mormon or how mormons are. there is no such thing as a paligamist mormon. anybody that practices polygomy is not in the mormon church.

Dude, you have a massive agenda. Get over it. Its people like you that are perpetuating hate crimes... You act like you are on some quest to "bring the REAL truth about the Mormons to the world". Go burn a cross in somebody's front yard if that will help you get your angst out.

mormons/LDS are very often confused with another group that split from them back when there prophet/forseer/revelator was martyred. so basically two groups came from that. FLDS -fundamentalists Latter Day Saints that is who the book Under the Banner of Heaven is written about. so dont base your beliefs of mormons off that book. and last i checked im pretty sure you can call any church a cult.

bunch of cult definitions

*The followers of such a religion or sect.

*A system or community of religious worship and ritual.

*The formal means of expressing religious reverence; religious ceremony and ritual.

*A usually nonscientific method or regimen claimed by its originator to have exclusive or exceptional power in curing a particular disease.

*An exclusive group of persons sharing an esoteric, usually artistic or intellectual interest.

i know that silly.

but they are polygomists..and they are mormon..i was not saying that mormons all pratice polygamy nor do they exclusively tie in together.

and btw polygomy was part of the mormon church until 1890 and then was banned. ;)

oh and i did not say that it accurately reflects the culture of the mormon people in any way..i was just saying i enjoy the show..but mormons freak me out.. i've worked with a bunch..we have a considerably large mormon community here actually, but of course not as prominant as that of UT's.

ive watched this thread survive for too long to not make a comment. actually, id like to share something that ive learned from people like that chris420 dude and the girl that posted above me.

as it has been said from times of old,

haters gonna hate.

nothing you can do about it.

they are polygomists.. and they are NOT mormon.. they may say they are but as you said yourself polygamy in the mormon church was banned. any person who practices polygomy is excommunicated.

ah yes, a valid point for sure. i do not disagree in any way...

but i will point out the obvious...the idea of polygamy at all does in fact disturb me and the notion that it was once a part of mormon and many other cultures, also disturbs me. but that is aside from all of this somewhat discomfort with the mormon religion. but i am also a person uncomfortable with any organized religion.

Hey, in my religion (Catholasism), we used to burn people at the stake when they saw fit. Ever hear of The Crusades?

Marrying 9 wives sounds better to me. Although both are ridiculous.

Wrong. Plently of people deserve that. In fact plently of people deserve much worse. Everyone should retrieve the sharp objects lodged in their asses and relax. College kids throwing water balloons at Jehovas witnesses is histerical, not something to take seriously. If it were starving and opressed African infants they were throwing balloons at it would be inappropriate, but this is just funny

i am supposed to be catholic, i was raised catholic, which is probably why i hate catholicism so much...but that is why i pointed out i am not one to conform to organized religions. it's not me. and i don't agree with it. so my opinions are somewhat amplified when it comes to details such as the ones discussed in this thread. so what im saying is..most religions and cultures, etc, have a dark past of their own. it is important for religions to grow with the times in which they are practiced..but then they are no longer based upon tradition. it's a bit of a catch 22 and i for one am not religious anymore but do not condone it either.
