Moment Skis Discussion Thread

Are people at the factory mounting the commander 108 on the line? I get that it's more of a directional ski, but -8 is farther back than I'm used to (guessing probably the case for most on here). Wondering what some of the people that might be more freestyle oriented are doing...

Our more traditional skiers mount it on the line but our more freestyle oriented riders (tcurle) mount at -6 from dead center instead of the -8 recommended.

What’s your guys perspective on mounting the Bibby/tour for more freestyle? -4? Cause -6 is recommended I believe?

All our freestyle oriented athletes mount at -4 from dead center. Any video you see of tcurle on a Bibby / Wildcat is mounted at -4.

Anyone been on the Wildcat Tour 108?

I did some really late spring skiing on a pair of the 190's. Definitely a fun ski that's easy to get up the hill and a breeze on the way down. It's simply a more spring touring version of the 118 Wildcat Tour.

About ready to mount up my new govs did did the sidewall marks get moved up to represent the shift in the mounting point mentioned in the blister reviews or should I mount on the line on the top sheet. Also mount on the line or a little forward?

The OG Governor/Bibby Super Pro had a further back mount point. I'm guessing you do not have that ski from six years ago. The new stamp is accurate to the ski you have. If by some chance you had the old ski the stamp is accurate for that model as well. As for mounting position the stamp is dead on for a direction skier. I usually push my bindings pretty far forward on my skis with tail rocker, but I only go +1 forward of recommended on the Governor with the purpose of trying to spin them a lot. If you're more directional, keep them on the line, if you spin a lot you could be better at +1.

thanks they’re the ones from the reserve so I’ll go with the line

Nice quiver. Real man sizes too unlike my 182-186s lol.

I've got some serious fucking quiver envy there, dude. Ghost Chant and reserve Govy are hands down the best two graphics Moment's ever made.

The bigger question is what do you do for a living? Didn't you buy a shit ton of ON3Ps last year?

I dont make a lot of dough

All those On3ps didnt work for me last year (lost $1000 on On3ps! Yay), so i traded them out for the tried and true moments. I have already skied the Moment shapes, and I prefer them.

Man we are like two peas in a pod? I forgot to get the Bibby tours in the pic.

Any chance you guys will be demoing the 196 gov this year?

We do have a pair of 196's on the demo fleet, stop by the factory once the snow really starts falling and fall in love with being a badass.

How are the Wildcat 108 Tour's measuring? Are they pressing the same length as the Wildcat/Bibby Tour's?

Yes, it's more or less the same shape shrunk down to 108 underfoot. There are slight tweaks to the sidecut to account for the skinnier width, but the overall length, camber, flex and all that good stuff is the same.

Also, here's a picture from our factory scale (take ~ 0.1lbs off for shrink wrap and cardboard spacers between the skis) of a pair of 108 Wildcat Tour 184's:

I saw that too, interested in hearing more. I just mounted up my commander 108s though so the quiver is locked in for the season - please start snowing can't wait any longer.

God dammit Tyler...can't keep anything secret in this factory.

It's something we're tinkering with, and will most likely premiere for the 19/20 season, but that is not the "set in stone" shape as it's our initial mock-up.

Basically, we're looking at building a 118 Commander.

Only 745g a pair? This low weight trend is getting ridiculous!

13957983:hot.pocket said:
7.45 pounds per pair, so approx. 3.4 kg per pair.

I know, I was poking a bit of fun at the use of the imperial system to measure skis. They're really light at 1700ish g each and would be ridiculously light at 745g/pair

Sounds legit. The naming convention is too similar to ON3P's supergoat. Let me offer you some alternatives, none of which you have to pay me for:

1. The Hugh Johnson

2. The Commander Johnson

3. The Commander HG

4. The Fat Commander

5. The Fall Line

I mean, all those names sounds like winners to me. The Super Commander is our in-house name that we're referencing it by, and it'll most likely end up as the 118 Commander.

But who knows? We like to change shit at the last minute all the time.

Wait, didn't they copy Rossi since they have a ski called the Super 7?

Compromise and call it the Moment Commander Super Johnson then.

God's Cock has a nice ring to it too - powerful, holy/spiritual, but still a playful side. But not sure what kind of language restrictions you guys are subject to.

Our Value Menu, www.skiburger.com , has been updated with all of last year's leftover stock. Tons of fun shapes at a discounted price available now.

Josh bibby now rides for Elan. Wildcat name change makes sense now. Does Elan even make a good pow ski?

Ehhhh...wasn't the reason for the change. We were basically looking to do an update to the Bibby, but the last time we changed dimensions / lengths / flex / etc...we were hit with huge backlash from the community. The name change was our way of keeping the ski fresh without ruining it's great design.

Josh's switch to Elan happened well after the decision to change the name.

Got a couple of Chipotle Banana 186's left on the website, first pair just came through at 9.25 lbs / 4.20 kg per pair.

Yooooo hyped on the new line up. My deathwishes might be getting replaced with a commander or meridian next season (still can't decide if I like going fast or playing around). Way to go boys.

PS. Did a skimo race on my Exit World's the other day. Pretty sure I am the first person to skimo race the Exit World, but maybe I am wrong.
