Yeah it’s kinda ironic a lot of these people are protesting in cluster fucks but they also preach safety during quarantine. Definitely not just liberals doing this though, most people these days understand brutality is a thing and don’t fuck with it, but there’s also the racist side of the country who probably back some cops actions. Just had the big SLC news chopper fly over my house, my friend is at all the madness just watching it still so assuming they don’t have much grip on this legit curfew/lockdown thing. Still considering taking a bike ride on the back streets to check it out.

Maybe this is all because 70+ years of peaceful protests have only led to increased police brutality, and decreased accountability for their actions. Maybe it's payback for decades of public lynchings and aggressive racist actions. I don't condone arson, but FUCK COPS.

1) maybe because they feel this is a greater threat to their health and future than some mysterious virus they've never encountered? Idk

2) it is interesting though as minorities have a disproportionately higher morbidity and mortality outcomes from covid. Interesting because these protests are likely to fuel a spike within those populations. Very vicious cycle.

3) low healthcare literacy- the average American has a healthcare literacy of a 7th grader.

So yea bro so hesh but everyone says fuck the cops until they roll up to the car accident you are in and block off traffic and allow the EMT's to save your life. Just had a friend who works in a restaurant in downtown Grand Rapids say the place was looted. Pisses me off since there was a large, peaceful, and productive protest this afternoon. Now that effort is lost in the minds of the media and the public.

Have state or local governments commented on the multiple video and eyewitness reports of media becoming victims of non lethal deterrants? Lots of really disturbing videos of media and innocent bystanders being assaulted by police. You wanna disperse violent crowds? OK. You wanna arrest disorderly people? Fine. But shooting pepper balls, spraying fox 5.3, shooting rubber and wood bullets, and arresting media and nonviolent people during noncurfew hours is absolutely idiotic. Police departments are seriously digging themselves into holes they won't be able to get out of.

I'm not condoning the violence by people, but I also clearly have seen too many examples of police overstepping the line. Stressed? Sure, but if you can't control your emotions, you shouldn't be a cop.

I would imagine that in a riot situation it is difficult to determine who is and is not peaceful. And frankly if you are walking around a city late at night during a riot odds are you are part of it. Clearing the streets is about the only option.

hmm idk about that. Here's a case study: Justine diamond was killed in similar circumstances. Southside Mpls. She was white and the cop who killed her was black. It was all over the news for months and officer was sentenced to 12.5 yrs in prison and city settled with her family for $20 mill.
