Minidisc or MP3?

I am thinking of buying either a minidisc of mp3 off ebay, i was wondering which ones to lok for aside from the ipod cause im not spending that much monday... any help would be appreciatedq

What the hell were they doing with a car on the moon?... havent they gone far enough?
 
Spending too much monday can be a bad idea. I have an MP3 player with almost unlimited hard drive space, but it wasn't cheap, and I'd recommend a mini disc cause you just have to buy more discs if you want.

i got a mini disc player but i had the headphone jack in and it tweaked out so my right side didnt work, it also happend to my cd player so its not the discs fault, just always have theremote pluged in.

I have a minidisc and it's great! Get a sony MiniDisc.

i have an mp3. Its great. iRiver is the brand. If you want to change your music a lot then I guess mini disc if you are'ng gonna go iPod. If your satisfied with having like 20 songs for the day then get a cheap mp3 player. You can find some cheap old iPods on ebay though.

mini disc risks the possibility of mechanical failure... mp3 has no moving parts so is more durable. go with a kickass mp3 playa over a MD

Go MD, and get a warranty on it... I have a three year warranty at Future Shop....in case I smash it up!

read ur warrenty again it probably says it only covers mechanical problems and stuff, not any physical damage.

Although I LOVE my Sharp MiniDisc, I fucked it up skiing and it doesn't work 100% right anymore.

That's the risk with MD's.But in the end, they are more versatile and way cooler.

i got the nike/phillips 3'' cd player, i can burn fours hours of mp3s on a little disc which is WAY cheaper than a MD, plus it is super durable - been dropped and crashed on many many times, and my dog even tried to use it as a chew toy but it still survived (not the headphones though my dog shat them out a day or two later). was $180 when i bought it but i think the price has gone down since last year

Yeah, regarding my warranty...

It's the Future Shop warranty...I had to pay extra money for it.... covers three years...any problems, off the shelf....

i try and stay away from anything mac related, who the hell needs macs. they are total shit when u ask me. but the ipod seems like a nice product.

i have a sony MD, and its a great system. i did have a bunch of problems with it, but sony is replacing mine with this years MD too. i think mine was just a lemon. but MD's are great.

minidisc beyond a doubt, get one with lp4 and you ahve over 6 cd's of music, and about 50 hour battery time

i think an mp3 player is good if ur just listening to like 50 songs at a time but get an MD player if you like downloading thousands of songs cuz ull need it

Public what are you talking about... MP3 players have capability or organizing by folder which would make a 20GB IPOD way much better than having 20 mini disc's on hand. u can make a folder for the album or different days or anything.

haha first off if space is a problem get the 60GB one and you can put 10,000 songs on it. if you need more songs than that ur are way outta line and need to chill on the downloading. dure u can buy more disc's but that costs money. why not just have a harddrive that is rewritable at any time and has hge capacity.

but a minidisc player thats only 99$ and records in lp-4 (300+ min. per disc) is still gonna be cheaper than your ipod or any other high capacity mp3 player. Mini-discs are rewritable 1,000,000 times before any noticeable sound quality is lost...give up d-loc, your not as supreme as you think you are and you probably dont know nearly as much as you think you do

you also have to record in real time....

my mp3 player (not an ipod) has 128 mb built in and an expansion slot so i can bring it up to 640 mb of storage

@ 128 megs i can hold like 25-30 songs all 192 bitrate.

it also takes me about 2-3 seconds to xfer them from my pc to the player.

mini discs in my opinion were a failed media type... if you could import onto the players like you could with an mp3 player then yes they would be better.

I like my mp3 player.

haha so why is MD a thing of the past? MD came and went in 2 years, i had one like 4 or 5 years ago. yea it was nice, but i took it back cuz its just plain stupid. if i wanted to keep switching cd's i would buy a CD player... DUH. its gone sorta like this tapes, cd's, dvd, MD, mp3. tapes are almost unheard of, cd's are slowly playing them selves outta the business, dvd will go strong for awhile, MD that never took or nor never will, mp3 will be around for awhile until the smaller compression rate becomes more popular. mp3 has so many more features also its unbelievable. im not comparing a MD player to the IPOD... im comparing it to the hundreds of other types of mp3 players available for under 200.

oh and dont call me an idiot, i have been dealing with electronics forever and know about all the latest upgrades. i am a computer engineer and deal with computers day in and day out. my life is electronics

MiniDisc has too many mechanical parts which can be damaged very easily. That's why I use an mp3 player :)

tru dat. the ideal products coming into the market are substantial. which means no moving parts. new camcorders by panasonic are substantial. they operate without any moving parts, which in turn will make them 100 times less vonerable to breaking. so why buy MD, its a thing of the past. stick with new technology cuz you know its gonna last hella longer. MP3 players are substantial, therefor are gonna last alot longer.

^exactly why i use flash drive, and carry around a laptop. since when do i need more than 40-50 songs for one day? I can always change it anytime, anyways. Just plug the sucker in.

i have the rca lyra with 128mb and its great i hae 55 songs on it and now they have a lyra with 256 so you should get a mp3. also people say mindiscs are better because you can get more minidiscs while with mp3 you cna do the same thing with memory cards. my mp3 is a hell of aalot smaller than any mindisc and there is no moving parts which is awesome. my friends have minidisc and they wish they had mp3. hope this helps you out

I love my Ipod. If you don't have or wish to spend the money I would still reccomend a Mp3 player. You can get tiny ones that hold just as much as MD and cost a lot less. Plus they transfer songs a lot faster and you never have to carry extra disks around. I have a lot of friends that swear by their 100 dollar iRivers, hold 30-40 songs, and run a single AA baterry. MP3 is definatly a better buy in my opinion.

Minidiscs are mad easy to use and record on. With new ones you can record alot more hours on one disk, and its better than mp3 cuz you can just make discs instead of downloading and deleting songs all the time.
