Minidisc or MP3?

get the lyra i forgot to add taht you can expand up to four gigs of memory and your player is the size of a box of matchs

~never be bought. never be sold~

i got the rca lyra 1071 for 210 bucks with a 2 year warranty. remember this is canadian funds

~never be bought. never be sold~

id go with mp3. MDs are nice and all but i wouldnt be able to trust its durability with the hits one will take skiing. i know last year i took some diggers that would easily break somthn in my pocket. MD playas are too heavy to put in a breast pocket and i think thats the only place an electronic device would be safe when im actully skiing hard in the park.

mp3.. with a mini disk it can break alot easier than an mp3 and with mp3s if u get one with alot of storage u wont have to change disks every time u wanna listen to something different

*NORTHEAST CULT*

i think im gonna ask for a mp3 now

MD players are really the best way to go

You can fit like 6 CDs on one Minidisk they are small compact too.

sounds quality is mint aswell.

I have had mine for ever fell many times and still had no issues!

* I had just launched myself 50feet in the air Off a boother when both my skiis pop off. So I think to myself What would Jared do?*

Mp3 players are kickass. Make sure to have one with exandable memory though. I have a couple different ones. for skiing i use a silly Irock 520, it has 64mb built in but i put in a 128mb on top of that. It is cheap on ebay and i dont care if i break it. Really easy to use too with fat glove fingers. The guy username i bought from on ebay was deal-monger. Crazy fast shipping and super coo to deal with. I bought a few things from him and he combine the auction's shipping.

mmmmmm snow goood

how do you expand the memory?

Mp3 players are the way to go. I've worked with minidiscs and all kinds of mp3 players, and mp3 players shut the competition down.

I got an mp3 player for $200 bucks, and it can hold up to 20 gigs of music on it. That's relatively 5,000 songs. All at my fingertips. It's durable, lightweight, small (it is bigger than a minidisc player, but not nearly as large as a cd player). You can also use it like a portable hard drive and throw all your pictures and other files onto it.

Eat. Sleep. Breathe. Ski.

Where did you find a MP3 player witha 20gig storage capacity for 200bucks?

* I had just launched myself 50feet in the air Off a boother when both my skiis pop off. So I think to myself What would Jared do?*

creative makes good small mp3 playas with like 20 gigs of storage they are the poo. as to which is better, minidisc or mp3, I got to go with mp3. no moving parts, impossible to skip, no money wasted on buying disks.

Always remember. . .Pray for snow

Right mp3 players are alright, but minidiscs can do everything an mp3 player can do and more. Generally the quality of a minidisc is better, if you are recording from CD or DVD. You can record mp3's onto minidisc too, but with both mp3 players and minidisc players you've got to make sure you download good quality songs or it'l sound crap. Plus if you wanted to you can record from the radio on minidisc, or from other analogue and digital sources (cassette, video, vinyl, dvd, radio, computer, tv, anything with a sound output). yYou cannot do this with mp3 players (to my knowledge) as you can only transfer files from your computer to the player in mp3 format. Imagine a mini disc as a cassette, with perfect digital quality, compact size, able to record from any source imaginable and relatively cheap, with tonnes of feature. Go for minidisc i'd say. Plus the arguement about mechanical parts breaking is stupid, they'l only break if you drop it, and an mp3 player would break if you dropped it to.

Yeah concept_dude, if you get one with a decent anti-shock system it should'nt be a problem. Mine doesn't have an antishock system, and its full of dents and has only just started to skip when i jump. They won't break through skiing, especially if you keep them in a padding pocket in your jacket or in your bag, but they may skip if the anti-shock system isn't good enough.

what kind of MD's have a good anti shock?

with an MP3 player there aren't any moving parts, so it has a lot less stuff that can break. unless you get it wet, it would be alright. even a pretty direct hit won't hurt a lyra (i accidentally dropped mine from a 8 foot ladder onto a cement floor and it just kept playing.)

i think soney net md's had a 'trac' deal on there md's. its where you have to use there program to record music from your pc to your md and they tag the music when it transfers so you cant just put something in the md and upload it into your friends computer or something...i forgot its been awhile so ya...i would get like a sharp net md if you do get a net md.

just ignore this paragraph if it thosent make sense...

man hands down minidisc. specially for riding.

Mp2s are too expensive, or u will have like 20 songs and really thats nothing to 5 hours when your out for a whole day, pus the minidiscs are cheap and can carry 4 to literally listen all day long. only cons is downloading music isnt as fast, ohwell and possibly more prone to failure but both are, MInidisc all the way man

Have a lok around if you want to find one with good anti shock, or speak to someone in a shop.

MD for sure. I have a Sony Net MD and it is awesome, MDs are so cheap and buy a six pack and you have over 36 hours of music recording capability. Ive never had it skip cos the antishock is so good, and they are alot cheaper than mp3 players.

also if you dont like the openMG software then just use Real player
