MF DOOM Appreciation Thread.

ive noticed this with DOOM the more you listen to his songs and understand them the better they get.
 
Honestly doom is good but way overhyped. Operation doomsday and madvillainy are good but far from great. And most other stuff he's done is generally not good. People like doom too much for no reason
 
Ghost face, j dilla, Raekwon, red man, Bronson, fat Joe, big l, all of pro era, method man... And the lift goes on and on before I get to doom
 
They're all good as well can't argue with that I listen to all of them, but no one can touch DOOM's lyrics/verses/flow/etc

mainly what i'm trying to say is that that madvillainy isnt good because of doom, its good because of madlib.

give me your list of top rap albums and i can easily prove why madvillainy shouldnt be on the list by providing you with an album that is better.
 
That was one of the dumbest things I have ever read. Music is subjective, and though there are objectively bad songs or albums Madvillian is not one of them. And your list sucks. Out of curiosity what are your top ten albums, cause I'm sure I could name an album there that isn't as good as Madvilliany or some other album I like more...

1999 - Joey bada$$ (I know I may get hate for this but fuck you it's better than madvillainy)

Donuts - jdilla (I don't care that there is norapping it also is definitely better than madvillainy)

Illmatic - nas

Reachin - dig able planets

I never said doom was a overhyped producer. I said he was overhyped rapper. I think the reason I like Joey so much is because he raps like doom on some songs but does it better. He like does all of the good shit doom does but none of the not so good shit
 
Alright, so using your own logic on yourself, where you were saying you could pick an album that was better than Madvilliany on my top ten lists I can pick dozens of albums that are better than half the albums on your list. Know why? Because it's my opinion... You really don't get this whole "music is subjective" thing do you.
 
sounds like someone giving up. I slightly understand where you're coming from, the first time I heard D00M I was put off by his sometimes off beat way of babbling over the beat. However, he choses to do this in order to create something different and once you listen to it enough and you get a feel for what he's doing his flow begins to make much more sense. Considering you have a very good taste in rap music I'm sure you've given Doom a good chance but I'd suggest doing it again. The songs you liked from Madvillainy were the ones where he rapped in the most classic way, let your pre determined of flow disapear and listen to MM Food, King Geedorah, Operation Doomsday, or Madvillainy all the way through and be astonished. No he's not the next Nas or Andre 3000 but there's already Kendrick and Em to fill those roles, let DOOM do his thing and give him the listens he deserves. if you still don't dig it.... to each his own I suppose
