You can't change the meaning of the slur or say McCain didn't mean it that way. What if he had at some time in his life been victimized by African-Americans? Would he be justified in saying, "I hate niggers"?

barack did say 57 states and that one really is a verbal slip, and a funny one at that...

i have made the case before, and I WONT make the case again, about how barack displayed poor judgment on the whole wright situation............. IMO....
 
Yeah, I have very little tolerance for racism. And the fact that the Republican party ignores it as a problem is just one more of the many things I, as a conservative, have against them.

no its not a reference to all asians it was a term used for one group of people not the entire asian race. The meaning of the word today may be different to some people but to him and many people his age it mean something else. But yeah its dumb and he should have know better but everyone has said something dumb that they dont mean.

A quick search of the google using the internet machine reveals that the term "gook" has been used against Filipinos, Koreans, the Vietnamese, Pacific Islanders in general, Southeast Asians in general, and Asians in general. It is not and never has been specifically a reference to VC or NVA fighters.

i have to break with the party on this, (spending) just like i have on many other issues, (i am sure you know that), i am far from a McCain fanboy... but IMO he is all we have left... and this is why i do my best to make as compelling a case as i can, but at the heart of my argument is CONSERVATISM, and i do my best to defend that.....

again, conservative first! republican second.....

and when the republican party takes that Que, you will see the uprising of a beast!

That's why I WON'T vote for McCain. I'd rather throw my vote away with a ridiculous write-in and contribute to breaking the Republican party than help elect someone who really doesn't represent my beliefs.

And I think Obama could be enough of a disaster as President that we might get a REAL conservative candidate next time around.

If you want to post a photoshop of Joe Biden kneeling before a crowd of lobbyists or Obama adorning himself with a crown of thorns and a set of tusks leading a big crowd of oysters... go ahead. That would be what one might refer to as a photoshop political comic.

What am I stereotyping? All republicans love guns? This particular one actually DOES love guns. Also, I'm not sure that given the recent discussion on that issue, that loving guns would pose any significant problem for people who intend to vote for her anyway.

In any case, if you really want to revert back to that gun thread I'll give you my two cents on that picture. It demonstrates a pair of people handling guns in an irresponsible way. Seeing as how there is absolutely no reason to have rifles next to a swimming pool or to have your finger on the trigger just to pose for a photograph. Indeed that such behavior can be attributed many gun owners, no less than the governor of a state...is a stretch. That is not saying such that you specifically would have such feelings, but the intent of the photoshoper seems fairly obvious.

But in hindsight it probably was not worth commenting on and is trivial.

It's so funny to me to see these liberals/Democrats trying to smeer and trash (ie: photoshoped picture, untrue stories about her faking her pregancy) whatever they can about Palin. they look sooo desperate and afraid of this women its comical. They know she is going to kick their trash. Just watch her spech tonight, she will bring it!
 
Before being a Republican, she was a member (partial founder I believe) of a party that wanted Alaska to recede from the United States... so she has stood for something. Funny that John picked a woman...
