McCain's running mate is the Alaskan Governor??!

i dont know about the rest of you, but i for one take allot of stock in a leader that can do just that, LEAD.

now we should make a comparison on LEADERS.

disclaimer, i am going to be decidedly pro McCain, Palin. in this post.....

MCCain, led in NAM... he has also LED, in many different forms of legislation, going against BOTH parties.

Palin led, at both the local level, city console, mayor, Governor.

for those of you who dont know as much about local politics, go attend a City console meeting, go and meet your Mayor...

I am on a first name basis with my Mayor, and even though i come from Small Town America, He is a remarkable leader.... right now he is in the process of fighting Hennepin county(drew knows what i am talking about when i say "Fighting hennepin county" it is no small task) the county is trying to rip up our main road through our town, and take out street parking, and possibly destroying buiseness's.

you can also tell allot about a person by the decision they have made in their past, and i for one trust McCain's decision making many times over Obama's.....

now lets move onto Palin, she took on the establishment, she beat the republican govenor in a primary, and eventualy won the govenorship. she took on both sides of the isle, she was / is a mavrick, much like Mccain. she is not afraid to take on the establishment, and fights for what SHE believes in.

(o BTW, i know a state senator, and i would count my Mayor, to be just as good a leader)

now i want someone to make the case for the community organizer, turned state ^ senator, turned senator, who now has roughly 150 working days in the senate.... is chairman of a comity that has never met, votes "present" on bills of legislation. (is that a fear to lead? i want a leader, not someone who votes "present" ) how long has Barack been running for president based on what idea? change, change. it has a ring to it, but unfortunetly change is rather vauge, and when ever Barack gets nailed down on an issue, and doesnt resort to "change" i find myself coming down in stark disagreement....

(o BTW, i know a state senator, and i would count my Mayor, to be just as good a leader)

wow, i got started, and i just couldnt stop....

if anyone acctually reads this whole thing, let me know what you think, even if its "i hate you" atleast i know you read this far.. ha

I HATE YOU...jk, haha

it's hard to tell how someone will react when the pressure is on, to be president is certainly a new level that none of the candidates have experience with. i see your point, but in the same way Obama doesn't have the track record of being a "leader" Palin is an unproven commodity in terms of decision making at a national level, and has not shown her views on issues that would lead one to question this. leader is a pretty undefined term, so i actually would like a little more detail on your view of what being a leader entails, though i will make a point to say that part of leading is having that charisma to gain people's trust and get them to back you (bill clinton was good at this, they didn't call him slick willy for nothing) and Barack has exhibited some of this quality.

II realize that I'm not going to be able to convince you or change your mind (which is why political threads are dumb, everyone has their mind made up and they just stubbornly defend their opinion). However I would like to point out that comparing a city in Hennepin county to one in rural Alaska is like comparing apples and oranges. I'm not sure which town you're from, but you're in the same county as the biggest city in MN. Would you agree that your mayor is going to have to deal with a lot more issues than some tiny town in the Iron Range? Same thing applies here. Wasilla had a population of 5,500 at the time when she was mayor. Ask someone in a town that small if they think their mayor would be qualified for being Vice-President in 2 years. I can almost guarauntee you they will say no. Sure she has 2 years experience as governor of a small state (population-wise), but she is still the more inexperienced VP selection since 1908.

Now, I know you're going to come back with a shot at Obama's experience, but I don't care. I'm just saying you can't say that she has more experience/more valuble experience than him. His state senate district has more people than the entire state of Alaska. And he has spent 4 years in the US senate. Just being "present" to hear daily debates on national issues makes him more qualified than Palin (at least on a national scale. If this was a race for governor of alaska, Palin would have relevant experience)

And to address your faith in McCain's decision making: As one of the oldest Presidential candidates in history, he picks one of the most inexperienced Vice-Presidential candidates in history. Just hearing that screams bad decision to me. I realize that you don't think he is going to die, but when it comes to a position where your main job is taking over for the President if he becomes incapacitated, I'd like to think he'd have the leadership capabilities to realize that he should probably pick someone who would be able to take over effectively. Palin would be in way over her head if she had to become President. Compare this to Obama, who picked a experienced Senator who was strong in areas Obama has been called weak in. Not only did he pick someone who would be capable should something happen, he picked someone who can help him on issues where his lack of experience would come into play. In this regard, I'll take Obama's decision making over McCain's.

Haha, and with that I will quote what you said at the end of your post, because it also applies to me: "wow, i got started, and i just couldnt stop....

if anyone acctually reads this whole thing, let me know what you think, even if its "i hate you" atleast i know you read this far.. ha"

Meanwhile on topic,

let's talk about PALIN and her foreign policy acomplishments, I mean come on you heard Cindy McCain, Alaska is close to Russia. BINGO. Don't you guys get it?

Also what's up with Palin and her war on Polar bears?

and why was she a member of the AIP, WOW. HOW un-patriotic. just can't believe it, what an un-patriotic moron! where is her love of this COUNTRY? the only reason I can come up with is she must be a...that's right, that's right, TERRORIST..........

Don't tell me well Obama this, but Obama that, Biden, McCain, blahbahBLAHHHH, I don't want to read it, there are plenty of those threads.

I await your republican answers.

Hey she got more money from the oil companies. I wish the stupid fucking politions around here could get some extra taxes hell all they've done recently is lower their tax rate (dems run local gov)

ok, i have about 3 long posts i need to make, so if i miss something you brought up, feel free to let me know, because i know i will miss something..

the easiest way i can sum it up is, i am not voting for palin to be president, i am voting for "John MCcain" palin is the bottom of the ticket, Barack is the top of the ticket....

dont BS me and say "biden, is the guy with the foriegn policy experience" because they are/ were polar oposites on the war,

(supposedly Obama's forgien policy triumph, and the only reason he beat "hilldwag")

again, when i vote, i am voting for the man, or women, who will be entrusted to LEAD the free world for the next 4 years, John MCCain has a track record of leadership, so does Palin, only not as great a record yet, but she is off to a great start...

what has Barack led on?

when i say lead, i mean fight, fight an up hill battle, fight your own party, because its what you believe in, fight against the establishment, make judgment calls, not vote present over a hundred times...

i want a leader, and i dont see one in barack, i see someone who has been the guy that stands on the sidelines and goes "good job" but not the guy that is ready to roll up his sleves, and get dirty, fighting for what he believes in....

what has Barack "CHANGED"

where has barack showed the tenacity to go agianst the establishment?

name one important thing he has LED on in the senate.

o yeah, govenors dont have the luxery of voting "present" (and getting away with it) they lead. (atleast the good ones do)

again, super long post, and if i missed anything, let me know.

someone tell me "i hate you" i need to know you made it this far... haha

good post, i appreciate the candidness...

leadership, is just that, leading.... and Sarah Palin, has displayed leadership... maybe not on huge levels yet... although one cane make a very compelling case, that even though alaska is a relatively small state (not much smaller than deleware though) that she has been a leader. i leader who fights for what she believes in.... plus its not like alaska is this little utopia, go look at what she has to deal with.... she runs a state where "eskimos" other native tribes, oil company's, enviromentalists, and the list could go on... are all locked in a struggle, a struggle over land, resourses, who can be on that land, and how to use it...

i dont know about you, but i can definitly see being a govenor of a different state being much easier.....

i really dont see how the whole experince card gets played by the left.... our lady is running for the number 2 spot, your unqulified leader is running for top dog...would i vote Palin for prez? nope, and im not....

read my other post in this thread, i adressed many of the issues you brought up in this post, haha and really dont feel like re writing it... my homework isnt going to do itself.. lol....

but my biggest point would have to be, "why do you trust Obama's decision making over MCCAins? where has obama displayed good decision making, and taken the leader roll... because MCain is arguably one of the most qualified LEADERS this country has ever seen.... maybe not leading on issues you agree with, but give the man credit for leading.... he has a proven track record of leading....

I couldn't read any farther.

Check Obama's Senate voting record on issues. He votes present more often than nay or yay. What has obama really done other than prove he can get people to register to vote?

interesting, but its just that interesting......

really though, what is so bad about the AIP? if anything it is a very conservative ideal...

Based on this quote, I think McCain has a strong disliking for the gooks. I think it might have something to do with Vietnam, I heard he was there.

(I thought I'd act like one of those people who think they're being all intelligent and insightful when they make comments like, "McCain? More like McSame!" or "I think they just chose Palin to try to steal votes from Hillary.")

not very through reporting on somebody's part.....

what was the money for?

it just says, 27 million for 9,000 people, or 3,000$ for every man, woman, and child....

if we are going to get on the subject of "vice presidents not agreeing with the presidential candidate"...

i have some doosy's with obama biden.... "the presidency doesnt lend itself to on the job training"... WHAT?! WHAT?! haha

coming from my cold bastard heart...... big deal? verbal mishap? he was tortured and experienced hardships that NO ONE on NS can even begin to comprehend...

do you know why you never see McCain with his hands in the air? (above his shoulders) he cant physically lift them that high...

"typical white person"

"cling to guns, religion, and antipathy, of people who are different"

"57 states"

"did i mention, hes black"

are we still keeping score?

Don't Alaskans get some kind of dividend-esque thing based on the state's oil production? In that case this is more like a tax cut than government spending.

yep, off the top of my head, i think it equates to about 1,500-2,000 $$ for every man women child...

i hope the reporter does a better job next time, because i want to know what the money is for...

Some of those are kind of bad but none of them compare with what McCain said. McCain endured some awful stuff and conducted himself in a very respectable manner during it, but that gives him war hero status (which no intelligent person should attempt to deny), not a license for racism.

And you really don't want to go down the path of "your candidate says dumber stuff by accident." You won't go far before you run into some Sunni/Shiite issues...and then you lose.

If I understand it correctly, it's literally a check the Alaskan government writes to the people, just like a tax return. Any Alaskans that can explain this more?

yeah, that is what i understand it to be......

the part you quoted is what i was saying about 27 million for 9,000 people... i want to know what "that" money is for....

u gun happy fucks on the christian right scare the shit out of me. palin talkin about God and Iraq?

that woman fucking scares me. people need to get a grip. excerpt ahead.

all the while im listening to this asshole thompson talk more and more about john mccain being a POW, WHO CARES. how does that trump ANY other presidential talking point. hes been going on for like 10 minutes now, and i havent heard a SINGLE thing about anything he plans on doing for this country. ugh. im going to bed.

While describing her family, Palin told students about her oldest son, 19-year-old Track, who is set to be deployed to Iraq this month with the U.S. Army. She urged students to pray “that our leaders -- that our national leaders -- are sending [soldiers] out on a task that is from God.”

thanks for that, you really offered insite equal to no other....

so thanks, we need more of this, you are really contributing to thoughtful, logical, and civil discussion...

so here's to you.

Cheers.jpg

where did i "blindly accept" negative press? those are HIS WORDS...

ok, ill say it, MCCain shouldnt have said that... it was wrong, It was insensitive, he made a closed minded, verbal slip.....

but can we agree, he has good reason to hate "those kooks" ? after what they did to him... he should have by no means made that remark, and he should have used more racially sensitive words...

but really, if obama gets the "get out of jail free card" now its mcains time...

so which one do you want off the list? see short list below... lol

typical white person,

did i mention, hes black

clings to guns, religion, and antipathy towards people who are different

No! No we fucking can't! He may have good reason to hate the people who tortured him, he may have good reason to hate the military or the government behind them, but he does not have good reason to hate Asian people.

This is fucking ridiculous. You can be a good Republican without defending your candidate's blatant racism, which is what this is. A mind-blowingly stupid, racially-tinged "slip" would be saying something about Obama being a "colored gentlemen"; saying "I hate gooks" is racism, there is absolutely NO WAY AROUND THAT.

The gooks is a reference to the fighters/gurrilas who tourtured him.

Gook is not a reference to all Vietnamise people only to the fighters/gurrilas.

He even made it clear after he said the comment that he hated and alway will hate the people who tourtered him and other POW and that he doesnt hate people from vietnam
