McCain's running mate is the Alaskan Governor??!

http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/09/01/palin.daughter/?iref=mpstoryview

ummm its not really alleged anymore. the story just broke on CNN this morning that shes pregnant NOW in her third trimester actually and the father is a senior aide to john mcCain and bristol will keep the baby and marry the father.

looks like someone follows her mothers "abstainence is the best sex education" policy....but for her that really sucks....plus its all over national news which is really unfortuante. I feel pretty bad for her.

yeah but they say the reason they broke the story about her being pregnant now is to dispell the rumors about her being Trigs mother....
but her parents are making her marry the father to show good christian values...which really sucks for her

It didnt say if her parents were making her marry the dad or if the 2 kids wanted to but that would be pretty fucked up to make her marry him if they didn't love each other.

Which now means that Palin did, in fact, fly all the way from Texas to Alaska to give birth in a shoddy little hospital when the water broke prematurely, endangering already fragile child, a stupid and excessively risky move. Good judgment on her part.

maybe i missed it, but i doubt that...

where do you see who the father is? let alone it saying that the father is a "senior McCain aide".

unless you are referring to another story, because i saw no such report in the CNN article...

Look, I'm probably not going to vote on the Republican ticket this year, and I sincerely disagree with many of her stances on issues... but this criticism is over the line for me. Shes a mom, and we all know how much control parents have over their children nowadays. So her kids dont listen to her - I'm sure you listen and agree with everything your parents do too. Her family should be kept out of this, this is a vote for her as vice president, not as a mother figure.

Personally, I could care less if her daughter is actually pregnant. Sure it shows that kids need better sex-education than the "abstinence-only" approach Palin supports, but I don't see that as a big issue in this election.

This race is still between McCain and Obama. The VP selection is looked upon as the first major decision of the campaign, one that shows they can make strong decisions. Many people already think McCain made a poor decision in choosing Palin. You don't need to go digging into her personal life or, even worse, her children's personal lives to try and blow up some scandal when McCain's selection of her is already looked upon as a bad choice.

And hell, if anything, they should have saved this as an "october surprise." If you're going to try and expose a family's flaws in the national spotlight, at least do it at a decisive time.

I agree with Rowen, this is more tabloid politics. I could not give less of a fuck whether or not her daughter got herself knocked up. I do hope that she's making her own decisions in keeping the baby and marrying the father, and not doing so because the alternatives would sink the GOP ticket. THAT would be heinous. But if this is really what the girl wants, that's none of anybody's business. There are plenty of real, substantial reasons not to like what Palin represents, so wasting time on gossip column garbage doesn't help anyone.

haha dude, i dont understand how people can be sticking up for wright still. the guy was a nut and obama was a family friend, his 'spiritual advisor' on his website, hes been a member for like 12 years or something, and more than half of his donations go to the church. i cant believe you'd call it a vague connection.

I would like to echo Rowen and JD's sentiments towards this so called "scandal". It really is the same kind of irrelevant pulp reserved for the trash of people who actually care about celebrity gossip. Unless it has some relevance to an actual issue of the public concern, it's not an issue at all.

speaking of C-span, yesterday at "civic fest" i found out that they are funded by the cable industry...

that mobile studio was AWESOME!

if you saw it on TV you would be hard pressed to tell the difference between the bus, and the real studio...

Hah! this finally got out! She was going to get an abortion in May but I guess that would NOT have looked good..

well this is page 10, so hmmm, you can probably do this one on your fingers...or toes if you prefer the piggies.

if anyone is watching t.v. right now, on cnn that dude that's really good at debating in old school is ripping into this dumbass lady congresswoman from minnesota. she's dropping the same bullshit arguments that i've been reading in this thread. she claims that one of the reasons she is qualified to be vp among a few other insignificant acts she's done while governor, is because she sold the state's airplane.

it's not that hard considering you've posted on everypage, but your brain stopped functioning by the end of the second page, yet you continued to type for 8 more pages with any signs of intelligence just like poultry continues to run around after decapitated.

Intelligence for what? The fact that she has more executive experience than Mr. Obama? I believe I really got into the whole Executive, Legislative and Judicial branches of government my senior year of high school. I think it was called "American Government".

18 months in one of the most obscure and least populous states in the nation is hardly something to brag about against someone with experience in washington in the senate (twice as much as her experience in a lead office), which does deal with many issue that will come up in this next presidency. im not bashing palin, just showing...again, how weak your argument is. i frankly dont give a damn what classes you took in high school, nor what you read in the papers, it's the inability to form your own opinion that isn't based off media and other skewed sources that shows a lack of free thinking and intelligence for someone of your age.

President/VP - Executive

Governor - Executive

Senator - Legislative

I don't care if the state has a small population. She still has more executive experience than Obama.

She's ONLY running for VP, not president. Don't start with McCain's health (that equal weaksauce).

Four years in the US Senate, and two years (?) in the state senate. If you're in the state senate then you mind as well be a mayor.

"Yea or Nay, Obama?"

"Oh, I'll go with...hmmm...Nay. Wait, I'll go with Yea."

McCain was NEVER on my ticket because he leans left of right, but I don't want a socialist government. You already have Congress which has control over spending and other things. Lets even it out.

ok, i didn't bring up mccain's health, you just did. obama had 8 years in the Illinois senate, and to say that compares to being a mayor is pure idiocy (im detecting a pattern). he has spent more time at both levels (federal and state) of government, and considering that our current president has made many questionable decisions and has had an economic decline during his presidency, to go along with ruining our image abroad, it does not bode well for her. (i am well aware that clinton was a Governor prior to presidency, but people voted for bush after economic decline, so im led to believe the average voter has short term memory on the subject). also your argument is nullified by the fact that all mccain's significant experience has been legislative. do i think obama is the next messiah? no, he's not even the next clinton, but i do feel he gives a better chance changing our current recession for the better.

State Senator (from a district with a population of almost 800,000) > Mayor of 6000 person town

And no matter how much you say McCain's health shouldn't matter, even he has said that his VP pick should be the best qualified to take over the presidency should something happen to him. Then he turns and picks someone who is more inexperienced than any VP pick in the last century. This decision shows McCain is more concerned about winning the election than the future of this country.

Also, for the record, calling someone stupid is not the way to win an argument. I'm not saying I agree with aspen, but don't go around insulting people just because you can't convince them.
