McCain's running mate is the Alaskan Governor??!

ugh.....you are exhausting.

That is not the point at all. The point is just this....nothing more...nothing less.

When you are in questionable health, and you are choosing someone to possibly take over your position upon your death, you usually pick someone with more experience than Palin.

That is it. ok?

and yeah, you are not bursting out bubble. Of course you would pick Palin over Obama, so would many others.

it is just funny when you have MaCain saying Obama just doesn't have the experience for the position when someone who could take his place has less experience than the person MaCain is attacking.

But as was stating above, you are missing the point over, and over, and over.

Holy crap, I can't help but laugh at this thread. Then cry. Dear god.

I'm a big fan of McCain. Big fan. Loved him him 2000 against Bush, love the fact that he's a long time senator and was a Captain in the Navy. However this move was pretty dumb. She was chosen for 2 reason. One, she is a women (being good looking is only a bonus). Two, she is relatively unknown, so it is hard to criticize her on what she has or hasn't done. That's it.

You can't possibly think that Governor of Alaska for 2 years (or just under), plus mayor of a small town can compare to 4 years in the Senate, plus 8 years in the state Senate. I don't think Obama has much experience either, but he does have more than Palin. Also, I have to say that being in the National spotlight for the past 4 years does count for something, because every single one of his decisions has been looked at more closely than anything Palin has done. I don't not like Palin, it's just hard to see what she was really done. Mitt Romney would have been a much, much, much better choice. Generally speaking, I think being Governor (except for states like Wyoming, Alaska, Montana, Rhode Island, etc, just cause they are so damn small) provides better experience than the Senate. Obviously Massachusetts is not one of these.

Speaking of the the Senate though, you americans have got to wake up kick these people in the ass. The house too. What does this congress have, like a 9% approval rating? Less bills passed into law than any other congress ever? Not that President isn't important, but there is more than one man running the show.

aspen why do bother posting in topics where smart people are talking, you just make an ass of your self.

he speaks the truth

and if mcain got elected then that would mean i had been to the vice presidents house and know her kids! I bet bristol would go over great with tabloids/the public or whatever

If you lived in AK you'd see what she did. (I know we're small). But Me, My friends, and my family most all vote democrat.. The vast majority of my community votes democrat. But we all have come to like what Palin is doing. She's really turned the state around from the Murkowski era. I really don't know what the hell she could do on a national level but she certainly held her own going from 7,000 people to 600,000 people. And its not like other presidents have had any foreign policy experience either. What governor has? not Clinton.. not Reagan..

haha I'm a dem trying to convince a republican that his VP candidate is a good one. lol.

DEAR GOD!

NO!

People are just trying to make the fucking point that who your VP candidate is, is part of what you consider when you are voting for a President. In a case such as this, where you the 2nd oldest candidate in history (even putting health issues aside), this decision counts a little more than usual.

When the Presidential candidate has serious reoccurring health problems then YES the VP plays a serious role.

so what happens if mccain wins?

do we get screwed out of governor?

or does her like lieutenant governor or whatever take over? and who is he?

word

I just asked this in AK cult.. but seriously I don't want to loose her as governor. What happens? do we have a short notice election?

Alrighty then, I thought so. I still think that if it came down to it then she would make a great president. Stop trying to change people minds.

Agreed!

I WANT A FUCKING CHANGED GOVERNMENT.

Everyone vote for the pretty face like they voted for the actor. We will be fine. Turst me. Change is good and everything is fucked up in the US voting in any long standing career politician will not bring about change.

VOTE FOR THE PRETTY FACE IF YOU WANT SOMETHING TO REALLY CHANGE!

ha! obama and his change this and change that..... bleh....

JD is right McCain is likely to croak, vote for change, vote for someone radically different, vote for the hottie from ALaska!

the guy threatened to kill 2 government officials and tazered his own 11 year old stepson. do you think he should have been fired? he was suspened and then the union shortened his suspension. i cant imagine anyone advocating that he should keep his job as police man.

i cant wait to see what she does. shes young, very conservative, and she'll really mix things up i feel like.

in small 1 on 1 settings like the debates McCain is going to own obama. did u see the interviews with the preacher? obamas great at speeched but gets all confused in a smaller setting

wait.. but McCain can hold up on the spot? I really don't think he's going to do well in the debates..

So say Palin goes to DC.. and Parnell gets elected to Senate or House or whatever.. then I'm really confused on who our governor is.

I'm not sure how to feel about this...

On one hand, it's an obvious pitch to try and get attention/votes because she is a woman. Not to mention the fact that McCain criticizes Obama's lack of experience and then chooses a VP with even less experience than Obama. Although, Obama is running for President, so experience matters a little more than if he were a VP candidate. And it's politics, so hypocrisy is to be expected. Regardless, the fact is McCain is 72. His dad died at 70 (I know it's not any kind indicator of how long he will live, but it does put some perspective on his age), and McCain has had some health problems. Palin would not be good for this country as the president, as she lacks national experience, especially in the area of foreign policy.

On the other hand, she's someone who has backbone and does what she believes in, which is very respectable. Other than the investigation into her abuse of power, she seems to have a pretty good record. And, as some of the people who live in AK have said, she is well liked by the public - both democrats and republicans.

I think in the end, I dislike her because of where she stands on the issues. However, I do see her as a somewhat respectable choice for VP. If I was a republican, I might be alright with the choice, even more so if McCain was younger.

Dude, the stereotype of a "Washington insider" has nothing to do with whether or not you commute to work. I think it's more about being a career politician.

As for his racist comments, I'm not saying the guy attends KKK meetings when no one's looking, but those are pretty major slip-ups. Yeah, if you're talking in front of people all the time, you're gonna make mistakes, but saying you understand Indian-Americans because you frequent 7-11 is just a ridiculous statement to make while campaigning for the Presidency of the United States.

I wasn't comparing Biden to Bush other than to say having experience in something doesn't make you the foremost expert on it.

The three-state or three-region solution, however you want to slice it, would have resulted in one of two things: three separate, independent attempts at genocide or years and years of US/NATO peacekeepers preventing that. As it stands, we're on the verge of an agreement that will have US combat forces out of Iraq in the next 3 years and it looks like the country has a damn good shot at some semblance of stability. This is a direct result of the surge which Biden opposed.

And I know for most people, foreign policy in Africa is not an issue at all, but that's something that really interests and concerns me. And Biden's discussion of Darfur in the Democratic debates before the primary showed a severe lack of knowledge of what's going on there. For one thing, saying a no-fly zone could be enforced by a "handful of planes" (which was almost his exact wording IIRC) is asinine. For another, saying that a no-fly zone over Darfur would do ANYTHING in 2008 (besides probably cut off humanitarian aid to 2 million people in refugee camps) is even more ridiculous.

Are you joking? Clinton has been the only Democratic presidential candidate with any substance in the last 30 years. Lets see...we had Jimmy Carter who is arguably the worst president in history, Walter Mondale who was so terrible that Regan crushed him by a very comfortable margin, Dukakis who was simply the least bad in a field that included Al Gore and Jessie Jackson, Gore himself proved to be a very arrogant yet painfully bland individual, John Kerry who is an embodiment of platform ambiguity, and finally we have Obama who presents us with an extremely vague idea of what "Change" is...apart from anti-capitalism bordering on gross socialism.

She hunts, eats moose, hamburger, ice fishes, rides snowmobiles, has run a marathon, and owns a float plane.[16][79] Palin holds a lifetime membership with the National Rifle Association. She admits that she used marijuana

at a time when the state had legalized possession of small amounts

(though possession was still illegal under federal law). She says that

she did not like it and does not smoke it now.[13] In December 2007, Palin posed for a photo spread in Vogue.

I love it. You can totally tell she used to smoke weed. She acts like most all of your cool moms. No joke.

no seriously, I am changin my stance on things, I agree with Obama now, we need change, but his life is way to political, we need a fresh new thinker to bring about new serious changes. Vote for the MILF!

no but he should take that stuff into account when he picks a vp and with mccain the vp is even more important

I think a conservative woman in high office could be a good change. She has great family values, and I believe that it could be a great step in the right direction. A majority of democratic female voters loved Hillary. I didn't like Hillary though just because of her views, and there was too much testosterone in all the wrong areas aka Bill is her bitch.

so you like her because she has good family values, and not because of her political views? and how would a woman be better then a man? a good decision is a good decision regardless of sex.

Don't be so closeminded. I love her politics. I would love her to be my governor. I bet she would be really pushing drilling off the coast of FL.

I don't care on the sex of a person, but women think and act differently than men - it's a proven fact.

yes they think more with there emotions i.e. they get caught up in the moment and make irrational decisions, where as men think more intellectually i.e. think things out.

Obama received help from a crook to buy his Chicago house for a special deal. A crook who used money that came from the Saddam oil for food scandal. Obama supported this same crook named Rezner who received millions of dollars from the government to fix low income housing, housing that was never repaired or repaired very poorly. All the while Rezner still had money to contribute to Obama campaigns (makes sense if you want to keep receiving government funds). Obama got a special deal on his house because Rezner bought out the adjoining lot using money funneled to him from by Saddam's cousin in the UK, money that was made in the oil for food scandal. All the while people living in the low income housing that Rezner was supposed to repair suffered severely cold winter conditions due to very poor heating systems that were never repaired. Obama is great at "helping" the people he "cares" about when it comes to serving his own political ends isn't he? Or maybe he's just the best pupil of Saul Alinsky the world has seen. Anyone who doesn't believe me read "Rules for Radicals" it basically defines Obama's playbook.

Biden on the other hand is a plagiarist, a moron who cannot even come up with his own speeches. A moron who's doesn't even have his speeches written for him by his aides but rather steals from the British Labor Party thinking no one will be smart enough to figure it out.

Seems more important to me than firing a state trooper.

haha yeah i know im torn too. she really has exceeded my expectations.....especially since her only platform when running was "i am not murkowski"...i think she sincere about anti-corruption but i feel like she has a hard time dealing with oil companies and the gas line. i really want to see something done with that but it just keeps getting postponed....i dont know enough about the subject to blame it all on her..but i feel like she isnt really doing as much as she could.

REGARDLESS....she has done a lot and our PFD is gonna be like $3000 this year which is twice as much as it was under murkowski! yay!

its a really smart choice for mccain....and someone deserves a pay raise for deciding that should happen..

what does that have to do with the way the diffrent sex's act? do you have a boyfriend? does he get tired of you trying to sound smarter then you are (kinda like fox news).

hahaha...this is the only quality post you've had.....

i just read an article that said this morning before the announcment someone went in a revamped palin's wikipedia page and deleted all the miss alaska pagaent stuff and the part about her being under investigation. They also reworded a lot of things to make her sound more grandiose...haha...i just thought it was funny....

also on her main website they deleted her statements saying that she supported obama's energy plan and wants to impliment it in AK....

i think joe said earlier: obama-palin 08

Palin is very conservative. She would never run with a wacko like Obama, y'all wish.

It does still say she is under investigation, which is ridiculous. They are doing it because of union complaints probably. The guy tasered his 11 year old step son and threatened to kill two government officials. Do you think he should keep his job as a POLICEMAN?

I'm going to give you a thumbs up on the cockblock you just gave yourself.

My boyfriend is liberal. We just don't talk politics. Except for today - he stepped over the line. Bad boy. He knows how smart I am. I'm an intelligent person. Just because I talk slow doesn't mean I'm stupid.

since a "wacko" is someone that wants all people to have an equal chance at getting quality healthcare and education regardless of the economic status they're born into....and to close the gap between the rich and poor....and to really support the troops by bring them home form a country that doesn't want them anymore....and palin actually supports obamas energy plan which is really important for alaska...

i didnt give my opinion on the investigation...i just think its interesting that someone would take the time to go in a revamp her wikipedia page....
