Marker Bindings

I have a couple pairs, I havn't used them yet, but they seem pretty solid. I'm also glad that they're light, big plus for me.

i have the same, i havent ridden them yet but they havent broken sitting in my room so, so far so good

Markers bindings are not as good as the competitions for freeskiing. Flatout its a fact, the toepiece is a horrible design that gives the binding a very low elasticity. If you want light go with salomons, if you want reliable go with look/rossi. Unless you have a plate that requires mounting a marker binding i see no reason to do so above other brands.

Bad bad bad bad bad. BAD

Turning up the DIN on your bindings shouldn't need to be done. Proper binding design SHOULD eliminate this problem. If you're running a binding, like the Marker, that REQUIRES you to turn your DIN up from the recommended DIN, so that it holds you in properly, you're running the wrong binding for you.

Marker bindings are absolute crap for any kind of skiing that isn't recreational or racing. You can get away with a 20+ DIN in racing, but it shouldn't be an option in freeskiing, where there are situations in which your skis coming is CRITICAL to the survival of both your knees, and yourself.

On top of that, Marker+Freeskiing=major binding retention issues. And don't start with "it's the person mounting them". Bullshit. I've seen more pairs of pulled Markers than any other bindings. All sorts of different skis, mounted by all sorts of great techs, including the fine folks at Vancouver Ski and Board Services, who deal with binding warranties for Salomon and others. The scariest thing was seeing Markers pulling out of Volkl Gotamas, as they're both owned by the same parent company and supposedly designed to "work together". I've seen Markers come out of Karmas, Gotamas, skis made by Salomon, 4frnt, you name it, Markers have pulled out of it.

Lastly, Marker has the highest return rate in the industry. Yes, higher than Line's. Most binding companies are at between 1-2% return rate, with Tyrolia and Marker being much higher (the numbers escape me). That, right there, should tell you all you need to know.

Tyrolias higher end bindings are as good as anything though. Its their lower end stuff that hurts the return percentage.

I had a pair of m1200 tis mounted on some original fujatives. Rode those for about two months as my park ski.

I that period, I broke or ripped out those bindings 4 different times

I will never buy marker again

Nor will I sell them to anyone again

I also had some marker mrr1500s that ripped out of my ski and sent me flying into a tree and almost broke my fucking back.

Why the fuck would you say that when you don't even have a fucking clue who mounted them? maybe the fact that the Mrr only has 3 screws in a tight hole pattern has something to do with it.

Why did I shatter the toe piece on my m1200s? why did the metal slider plate bend on the new ones they gave me?

The shop manager of Sturtevant's in Bellevue WA mounted both those skis.

I'm inclined to think he knew what he was doing.

i love your points i will personally never buy markers for the reasons you stated above which i've read on here a long time ago and because my friends pre released on him and he was going very fast and fractured his back.

^^I use markers (but that is because of professional relationships)

They do have ski retention problems and the metal heel piece on the Free 14's tends to crack...

they have great boot retention, very safe and well designed release and generally ski awesome

They are great about warrenties...and it is not just markers that blow up...I have destroyed as many Salomons and Look bindings...

Think about it....if you ski 100-days in a season, you are skiing in one year what the AVERAGE skier does in six!!! of course your gear is gonna break down faster

All skis/bindings/boots/poles etc...will break down after 100-days of hard riding

MARKER binding are great bindings with solid performance for all mountian application but for park the really have no travel in them. so ejection from the binding when you want to stay in is common, there are alot better bindings out there for park apps

We get your point...but why would we go with something that is proven inferior (by even yourself). I would rather trust my knees (and releases) to Look for 100 days than Marker for 80...just figure it out. I don't care about "professional relations" either...if my dad was a racer and gave me free spandex one-piece suits, I wouldn't wear them. Do it for yourself.
