Finally finished a video that I have had no time to work on and has been sitting on my hard drive since august. Here it is if you wanna check it out. +k for solid critiques if you wanna

Pretty sweet establishing shots, but after that it becomes pretty repetitive. I would try throwing in some different shots that correlate with the scene you set in the beginning

Thanks for the feedback! I know it was kind of repetitive and if I was behind the camera I would have done it a bit differently with some slider shots and more but I was on the kneeboard and I put my friend who had never filmed before behind the camera. Considering he had never touched a DSLR let alone exposure, focusing, tripod work, audio and more I am very surprised with the results he came out with.

i liked the vibe and the shots you had. i think some b-roll in between the action would break it up nicely. overall pretty solid

Had to replace the shutter of my 1DX back in September (had 226k on it, meh). Then I got an Error 20 about 3 weeks ago and rushed the camera over to CPS. They replaced the shutter mechanism (again), the drive and mirror assemblies, and put in a new focus screen. All for free! Camera is as good as new know. Bring on the season.

Man I need to get out and shoot more. Put together a little clip from a line we setup a few weeks ago. Pretty fun shooting hand held and not taking everything so seriously.

Damn man, you had to call CPS? Thats not good... On a more serious note, 1DC>1DX ;)

I'm a CPS goldmember and it's awesome for the peace of mind. Free clean and checks, 2 day turn around on repairs and free overnight return shipping, and 20 or 30% discount on repairs if you ever have to get one.

Honestly if I stuck with canon this would have been the main reason.

So stoked that I finally finished (at least I'm finished for now) writing the narration for Session Cinema's next ski film! Hope it turns out great!

What did you end up with?

A7II.

I think I may have just cut the size and weight of my touring/mountaineering camera kit in half which makes me very very happy. Gonna get out and actually shoot with it tomorrow morning, and then we'll really see.

Just picked up a SmallHD DP4 monitor which I'm pretty pumped about- any suggestions on how to mount it along with Rode VideoMic pro and still keep it fairly low profile?

doope, i'd say through one of these bracketed mounts on there.

I haven't had any experience with monitor/mic combos, but this looks like a pretty convenient and inexpensive option you could for sure check it out.

As far as my m&a stoke Im really hyped to have all my gear settled as far as an on-snow set-up and a buddy and I are currently beginning production on our senior project, just a 20 minute ski flick which will have a small scale premiere around April/May and will be up online for free shortly after. Again, sooo hyped for this.

7Dmkii- mostly skiing on either glidecam or tripod

The v-mount someone else posted would definitely work but it's not the most solid option. depending on how much you want to spend you could probably find a low profile cage which would also give you room to expand if you eventually wanted to add a light or audio recorder.

I haven't ever used a glidecam so I can't comment on how the different attachments would affect balance but that's something to keep in mind

M&A Anti-Stoke: Dropped and broke the kit 16-50mm sony kit lens. Concrete and lens are not a good combo. Anyone have any experience fixing lenses? I could probably get a used new one for ~140 anyway...

M&A Stoke: Bought a 12mm Rokinon f/2.0! wanted something wider anyway, figured now was a good time

In love with my new 16-35 II and 70-200 II. Also stoked on some of the shots I got in alberta!

25 2.8, 35 f2, 50 1.4, 85 1.4

Pretty much the cheapest possible set. I love it though. Originally started building a Contax set, but I didn't like the warm/low contrast look as much as I thought I would. And the ninja star aperture wasn't my thing.

I recently pulled focus on a short using only the 35 f2, and good god it was sharp. We even had to put a softening filter on it. Granted, that fact that we were shooting 6K might have had something to do with it...

Nice! A more complete set of zeiss than I've got! I'm almost there...
