M&A stoke

Of course you can still take pictures with it, just be aware of it's limitations, how hard is it to go out and shoot? But spending some lunch money on crap glass to put in front of it isn't worth it imho. For web 5mp is often more then enough.

alright, thanks for the help +k

Oh wait, you mean one of these? I was really confused and thought you just meant an old film Maxxum 7000 or 7i or something... This could shoot freaking video?! That thing's like 10+ years old!

The camera's ancient. If it actually shoots video, I'd figure it would shoot in 4:3 interlaced files, and would drain batteries in about 3 seconds flat. I wouldn't even bother, personally. Besides, 28mm is plenty wide for most applications. Why you'd want to get all fisheyed on that... eh...

Apparently the thing can do timelapses though? look into that... might be an alright plug-in daytime timelapser.

ye i heard that it drains battery pretty fast, still foing to see what some of the footage will look like

also timelapses seem pretty cool and will definitely look into it

thanks

Magazine submissions are finally done, tagged, and organized! 95 total photos that I'm stoked on this year, which beats my 17 photo submission from last season. Fingers crossed the 2 published to 17 submitted ratio applies again :D

Honestly, how does one go about submitting their photos? Do mags contact you? Do you reach out to them?

I don't know what it is, but the colour rendition of the D810 is just... wow.

I never thought I'd get carried away with resolution or anything, but my god... the colours have this... I don't know.. they just 'pop' or something in a way that makes other cameras cower in it's wake.

For studio work, it really is a pretty ridiculous camera... no doubt.

I'm sure people here remember Alex Horner - he hasn't been on or posted in a while, but I just watched his newest demo reel and HOLY SHIT it was incredible.

Fuck that was so good. FUCK! I don't make movies anymore, I kinda left that part of my life behind. Sometimes, though I wonder what it'd been like if I hadn't...stuff like this brings back the feelings I used to get doing it.

God damn, that was so sick! And I can't believe he was the guy behind the RB Stadium video, fuck yes Horner, if you're out there, so stoked to see you doing big things.

I love seeing names like Horner and Chip Kalback, who used to both contribute actively here in M&A, popping up all over the place now. I know Chip had a big cover of Road & Track or one of the big car mags, did some stuff for GQ and Rolling Stone, and gets some cool portraits for Powder.

True that!

I realized what I like so much about it - obviously the shots are stunning and the subjects are awesome, but the music is what really ties it together! Watching it again, the music is so dynamic, and goes through some smooth but really distinct changes throughout the video that really are in line with the pace and content. Watching that is a pretty wholesome experience, actually. Because of the way it all fits together, even with just short clips of stuff you can feel what he conveys. Fucking a, that's sick.

Little late but the polaroid 180 that I won on eBay for $50 Canadian just got it's shutter rebuilt and is now fully working. This is one of the fully mechanical ones and the cost of repair plus my eBay price is still way under the $600 usd they usually go for. It takes immensely better pics that my auto 250 and is actually sharp, STOKED!

Two awesome zooms. Together cost me 200$ for both and cover everything from 28-200 at ~f4 while being extremely light and sharp.

Will be so nice being able to reserve the combined 2500 or so grams of 70-200 f2.8 and the especially the 28-70 f2.8D for gigs-only from now on... I'll be able to carry around like half the weight and still get great image quality while traveling or packing in.

Sony A6000 came today, and the water housing for it comes tomorrow. Boomshakalaka, time to get my Matt Clark on.

Have fun with it, interface takes a little getting used to, but such a solid little camera.

Dude, so easy...

the 28-85 is CONSISTANTLY only about 60ish on ebay. I've seen the earlier samples go for 50$. I got mine for 63 shipped.

The 70-210 typically goes for around 150-200 for a good copy. One I got has a few cosmetic scratches on it, and the filter threads have a ding that doesn't completely impede putting a filter on, but other than that the glass looks pretty clean.

If you shoot only video, you can get these two lenses for even cheaper if you buy the manual-focus lenses. The 28-85 ais, and the 70-210 series E share the same optics. Nikon just put them in an AF body in the late 1980's.

the 28-85 isn't the best for video because varifocal, but there's the 35-70 f3.5 which is awesome and pairs nicely with the 70-210, or an 80-200.

Indeed it does. I'm just using this as an underwater/fuck around camera but pretty impressed with it so far.

Yeah. those are awesome lenses for video...

Honestly, if I shot only video, i'd probably stick to a 35-70 f3.5, an 80-200 f4, and some kinda wide-35 zoom, and call it a day...

And a fisheye DUH

I mean a 7.5 on the gh3 is dope.

for what you film lol.

I'm really not into filming snowsports I guess. I'd much rather take sports photos than video. I'm not against it or anything, I just know it doesn't play to my strengths, and I don't exactly have a 'crew' of any riders worth fliming lol.

I never use a fisheye for work, except when I filmed skateboarding last weekend.

I've only used a fisheye while on the job during one wedding where the groom specifically asked for a few shots with one... I incorporated it alright, but it was sorta random compared to there rest of the wedding... I wasn't about to use it during the ceremony.. just the guys getting ready and some of the reception.
