M&A stoke

Found a roll of 620 ektachrome that expired in 1958. I have an old Voigtlander Bessa that shoots 620, so this aught to be interesting... I should be able to find a lab to develop 620, yeah?

I'm mostly kinda stoked because now I have two spools so I can respool some 120 and fux around a bit.

New player Konost is developing a full frame M mount digital camera which has a digital rangefinder. Pretty cool to see somebody trying this, it's bold and I applaud them for that. Pretty niche though and impending lawsuit with Leica for ripping the design off the Leica T.

Looks a bit bullshity, also how is the range finder mechanism going to work when it apparently crosses the sensor, look at the window placement, unless they add a shit-ton of prisms.

Indeed the T's ugly bastard brother it never wanted to have.

The big thing they're pushing about it is that it is a fully digital rangefinder. As in the rangefinder is not mechanical but rather controlled by a digital sensor.

Then it's not actually a rangefinder, I give a rats ass if they call it that, why don't any of the people in the photos actually have a finger on the focusing tab? How are they using the rangefinder? It's juist a mere 3D printed mockup for a product that will most likely never come to fruition.

It's vaporware.

I don't really care what their cringy videos show the "actors" doing with their mockup nore do I care wether this camera comes to be; but, I don't see why it isn't a rangefinder if they use digital rangefinder tech. There are digital rangefinders on the market used for hunting, why is it that you put that tech into a camera it's no longer a rangefinder?

I agree. Check out their vid if you fancy a laugh.

Anti stoke, the focus ring on my fisheye broke. I now have three options:

A: Grow out of my fisheye love and be a "real' photographer

B:Buy a new fisheye for $150

C: Attempt lens surgery, take that thing apart and glue it at F8 focused on infinity.

Currently leaning toward C, and if unsuccessful B

This will probably beat any Canon if tested by DxO mark.

LOLOLOLOLOLLOLOLOLOL NO WAYYYYYYYYYY WHATTTTTTT YOU SO FUNNY OMNI

You're such a jilted lover, you and Canon should work things out.

You should film your lens surgery in a very melodramatic/ satirical horror movie style, then put it on the internetz, make a kickstarter, hope for virality and other people will pay for your new fisheye.

This probably won't work, but it'll be fun...

Genius!

Also I found a pretty clean K-mount Vivitar 35mm f2.5 for $15 at a camera shop that usually marks up the shit of everything, for example they wanted like $100 for a grimy OM Zuiko 50mm f1.8. Don't know if the Viv is any good yet, but I finally have a 35mm and I love shooting with it so far

Haha It cracks me up when Thrift stores THINK they have something worth something and mark it up like crazy.

There's a thrift shop nearby that was selling a cheaper Konica SLR with some crappy tokina zoom lens for 280$ bucks.

I'm interested in trying to shoot film, and my dad gave me his old film SLR for me to play with along with an 80-200 lens, and I'm really excited to start shooting with it. I know it's a 35mm film camera, but apart from that I have no idea where to start. I have substantial experience with a DSLR so I do have a decent amount of knowledge about cameras already. Anyone have any advice? Thanks.

It's very similar to a DSLR in almost every way. Check youtube for any tutorials on the camera itself.

^ update on last post, I just shipped out 6 rolls of 120, 1 35mm, and 2 4x5. I'm stoked to see some scans and share them with you guys!

So, basically for my final project before I graduate, in a class with the best teacher I've had in college, I have to do a final video project. It has to be a scripted short narrative film. I made mine and showed her the rough cut last week and it was fine, it was technically good and fulfilled all the requirements but I wasn't happy. I told her I didn't want to tell that kind of story and she told me "Ok, go make it something you are proud of" so instead of cleaning up my narrative I went on a banzai trip up mount saint Hellens and shot a Cassey Neistat style pseudo doc. It's not as well produced or nice looking but it is way more true and carries a lot more stoke so I am actually turning in something I care about.

Sorry for the long story, I just haven't been stoked about a video project like this for a hot minute

That's so awesome that she actually is kinda letting you do whatever you feel...

My favorite thing about my program in college was the leniency as far as what you could do for your video projects. It was so nice to just go and fuck around and not get shat on for it.

Yeah. She's a sick teacher because she's super hard on everyone's work but if you can prove yourself she'll give you freedom. I'm pretty sure she just gives out final grades based on what she thinks you deserved too haha. Wish more of college was like this class

I ordered some film when drunk, a gross seemed like a proper amount at the time.

Christ on a bike... When I ordered like 40 or 50 rolls it was a lot, but not this much. You're keeping Kodak in business, man.

Antistoke: So far I have developed 4 rolls of film on my own for school and each one has been fucked up in some way.

1st roll, Dead battery for probably half the roll, I was oblivious to this until about the last 4 frames when I realized that the exposure times bight be funky.

2nd and 3rd roll, I had to leave a loaded canister in a cabinet because I ran out of time in class, I came back the next day and find the canister with a sticky note that says "Sorry, accidentally opened in the light"

4th roll, I developed TMax and HP5 together and doubled the fixing time because of the TMax, the HP5 came out blank with very faint remnants of my images.

And ruining my bankaccount at the same time.

Fun fact I ordered it from Switzerland and it came in a lead lined box with giant warnings, which was nice.

So stoked for my dad right now. He has been talking about getting a new camera/lens almost every day for so long and today he got home with a huge smile and a new Canon 7Dmk2 and the Canon 100-400mm mk2 lens.

This also means I get his old 100-400 lens since he cant really sell it anyways so I'm stoked to have a solid lens to start taking some windsurfing photos this summer and his old beat to shit 7d will still work nice as a backup camera for both of us.

Not needed with a one day courier service, which was not complementary but the only option available, greedy mountain goats.

Snuck into the RIT photo lab yesterday with Nick Ventura and spent the entire day in the dark room. Finally learned how to develop my bw film and got to make a couple contact sheets and did a print of my own. I'm hooked. Can't wait to get my own place and start sealing off a room.
