Also don't see the brilliance, I just see a flaw on Rokinon's part because a lot of older glass with bulbous elements easily accepts filters on the rear. It's been done for years. Taping in a piece of filter hardly constitutes as a hack imo.

Hell even the Nikon 10,5mm DX has a better way:

Which is exactly why I don't understand why people waste their money on the Lumix 7-14mm f4.

80-200 f2.8. Do it.

After fumbling with scattered gear at Beartooth this past weekend, I finally broke down and ordered an Fstop Satori pack. Hopefully me not having to unroll a camping bag and slide out an ICU from the top EVERY time I want to take my camera out will result in me not missing half of my shots anymore #amateurhour

probably cause it's the only UWA zoom (with a full frame equivalent of 14-28) on the market besides the olympus one that costs 500$ more and is harder to find.

The Olympus 7-14mm f/2.8 is coming out soon though

I'm stoked I've got everything I need though! my kit is complete + learning to shoot photos and videos is a ton of fun.

I've been trying to figure out which bag I would get if I were to buy an f-stop and I figure this is the best time to ask. I would only have the money for one bag, why'd you choose the satori? I feel like it would be too big for most of my adventures, so a tilopa would probably be best, anyone have experience with it?

I have a small shallow ICU, and I also need to fit my Sachtler head, avy gear, and food. The head will probably take up 80% of the space alone. Also if/when I rent bigger cameras (fsx00, RED) I will need the space.

As far as I can tell they're all solid though. The Tilopa seems like the best size to me; if I didn't have to carry that massive tripod I would have gone with that.

Yeah I think Tilopa would be best choice for me. Loka seems dope and way more low key, but realistically I would use/need the Tilopa more. Thanks

As someone who's had the Loka and Tilopa and is getting the Satori, I'd say the Tilopa is the most versatile one.

The Loka is a day pack.

The Tilopa is perfect size (for me, but I'm 6'5). Paired with a Small ICU, you can pack a weeks worth of clothes and other stuff you might need in there. The Tilopa is the same height/width as the Loka is, it's just 4 inches deeper, allowing you to store stuff behind your ICU. If you're not using the space, it cinches down really well and you can effectively make it the size of the Loka. Also: the compartments on the Tilopa are much better laid out than on the Loka I think. Padding on the Tilopa is also much better than on the Loka.

I'm getting the Satori for biggers trips; backpacking, hiking and camping trips, stuff like that.

Unless you're *NEVER* going to take your bag on an overnight trip, take the Loka, otherwise the Tilopa is a no-brainer.

For skiing/mountainbiking the Tilopa is great too. If you use a shallow ICU (or medium sloped) and cinch it down, it extends as far from your back as a Loka would. When I had to decide between the Loka and Tilopa that was quite important for me. I was afraid the Tilopa would throw me off balance too much, but if you don't stuff the pack and cinch it down, they're equally good.

One thing to note about F-Stop packs, I find that if you max out the ICU capacity the bag becomes slightly unbalanced and obviously lacks room for other gear. I run a Loka with 2x Small Pros, if I use both (effectively a L pro) its too much for the pack. I have two purely for convenience and storage, one is my digital setup while the other is film, I can easily swap out depending on the day. If you plan on using a L+ ICU I would really suggest the Tilopa, for S/M the Loka is perfect.

Operation (proper) darkroom initiated.

Phase 1: buy as much stuff for as little as possible.

So...

To be fair those Durst enlargers are roughly the size of Northamptonshire and weight more than the tower of London, combined with an absolutely minimal market, most shops usually just throw them in the bin or hand them over to interior decorators. ;)

Sweet find regardless.

Well, if that's the size of Northamptonshire then some of the other enlargers (ones for 10x8's) the guy was selling had their own moons...

After my last couple shoots run and gun style, I thought it was about time I picked up a zoom rather than having to change lenses so often.

canon 17-55 2.8, pretty stoked on it

I won the tokina on the 10th. It was shipping from Japan and got here TODAY. Holy shit. Unfortunately I wasn't home and need to pick it up from holding tomorrow. Woo hoo though!

Taschen sale again! Picked up a book of Blossfeldt and Helmut Newton, as well as a Jodidio book, because it was cheap.

Also: I was at my uncles a couple weeks ago and apparently he collects photo books too. He's rich as fuck (and I mean really rich) and is mainly a 17th century Dutch masters art collector, but he told me he had the 10.000€ Sumo by Newton too. Upon asking him where it was he led me to his hallway, where it was stowed in its cardboard box under a table far out of sight. Then he asked me if he should buy the 10.000€ Genesis Sumo book by Salgado. I honestly doubt he's ever even opened Newton's book...

This sale seems to be very similar to the one in february, pretty much the same books really.

Couldn't be there today, spend my day washing the elderly, might pick up a few FUSE´s as gifts.

Was the Jodido Himmelb(l)au? I see that on the website for 25 quid, bargain really to be able to masterubate over Wolf Prix's matchimetical architectural prowess. Was it sealed and boxed?

Ah well the Newton book is really more of an investment really, it's unwieldy and the moment you unbox it the value plummets. If he got it for the original launch price of 1K he did good. I know a guy who bought five of them when they were 2K, pretty darn good investment.

I don't think the big ass Genesis will go up that much in value since it has started so high already.

For the same price he could have got an M6, Voightlander 50mm, Plustek scanner, Heliopan dark red filter and dozens of rolls of Tri-X to create much #Artz with.

Also glass > bodies.

It wasn't funny the first time, and it isn't funny the next 10,000 times...even though I agree. Damn you.

I'm all about using shitty glass on my GH2 (just ask Tomas). Keeps everything looking moist.

It's my 21st birthday! woo!

Anyone know any good photo/tech gifts to ask for? iPad mini retina? fstop satori for overnighting? I'm STUMPED

I've sold pretty much all my camera's, lenses and systems I wasn't using. Yey!

Maybe my Mamiya 645 system has to go too now that I've got a Hass and I probably won't be using it anymore.

After being accepted through the photography gate at MSU my parents offered to use their credit line so i could work on paying it off this summer before ski season. I got a 6D because I am confident with a camera and will want a full frame by the end of the the program, if not before that. This will make the photo checkout, where they have a large selection of lenses, more beneficial. I see myself using this camera for paid gigs eventually.. and the 24-105L was recommended to me as a "workhorse" lens that will be a good backup once I pick up some primes.

Hows that for an answer?

Dude, I realize this is M&A stoke and I don't want to drop too much anti-stoke but every hipster girl that buys a cheap DSLR goes through exactly this same process. It is awesome that you are getting into photography but don't become a pretentious jerk already. I up voted that bear tooth shot, but it wasn't because of the photography, it was because it looked like you were having fun in a cool place. Right now you seem to be doing a fine job of using the camera to capture what's around you, that's not a good reason to get all official and get a Facebook page and get all huffy on NS. Right now you are taking pictures, not making photographs. The shots you are getting now, believe me, you will look back at them some day and laugh at your past self, you are going to grow so much as a photographer in the next year, why hobble your reputation right at the start by posting a bunch of crap?

I see wayyyyyy to many people do this, I probably have 10 friends with "Photography" pages all of them but one are hipster posers making themselves look like idiots.

Sorry, End rant, I just got home form a party with 4 kids with overpriced DSLR's their parents bought them taking out of focus sun flare shots and calling it art, You have potential to be a great photog, don't ruin it already.
