Its kept us in business. We didn't sell enough product 5 years ago to continue without an other companies resources. Kind of like how most large ski company sells snowboards, rollerblades, shoes, scooters, etc. to finance their smaller segements. Well the skis we sell aren't nearly enough to keep us innovating, marketing, running like you all want. Its enough to get you started but you need more backing if you're going to last.
 
what company do you think is closest to you in terms of inovation? K2 because of the whole cheap park ski thing?
 
I like Bin Laden's style. My best trick is I guess a 5 these days, not much but plenty fun for me.
 
it was cool, I went because they had a free bus that went to the mtn every night. Kb and holiday were fun as hell then. I always got my ticket ripped for skiiing in the park, it was snowboard only then. I was on 204's since thats all that existed, it drove me to start Line and change things.
 
One that doesn't want to shell out $20,000 in hospital bills, loose weeks of missed work or just not want to spend their winter with a blown knee
 
this might be better suited for a shop guy, but since i'm the shop guy and i don't know i'll ask you...do you think invaders are too a) small b) soft for bigger guys? i'm pretty tall and right around 190 and it's tough to find a good park ski that won't wash out...an opinions? thanks for taking time to answer all these questions for people too...it really speaks volumes about your company.
 
I never thought because they're all about natural terrain, have no snowmaking and one of only 3 resorts in the country that don't even allow snowboarding so I don't think of them as very open minded enough to build a park.
 
new technoligies faciliate change. What new technologies are you most excited about this year, adn what ones can we expect in the future?
 
Sorry if I came off like a total prick, I just want to get an answer about the future of Line. I have no doubt you guys will do amazing, I just wanted to hear it from you.
 
for my style of riding it works for me, quick agile, light, perfect length, perfect width. I keep wanting to ride a different model but each year I like it still.
 
I went there because I didn't like school but I liked creating stuff and there was a major for design graphic and product so I enjoyed it. School is good for learning how to learn.
 
sounds like the reactor would be more successful if marketed towards rentals and older folks, then targeting kids in the park that need a binding that won't release or break. I know a few kids that broke a couple pairs of reactors each, skiing them in the park. Seems like that would be a good way to expand your "so called genre"
 
Elan, because they're the furthest from core in FREESTYLE 7 FREERIDE and it would be a fun challenge to see what I could do with it. Kneissel would be another. I already am running a core company so running a different one wouldn't be any fun, they're just doing the same thing that I've been doing.
 
Have you guys attempted to make the whole "4 hole pattern" mounting system an industry standard?

What's been harder: Revolutionizing/redefining the sport of skiing, or dealing with the behind the scenes business shit with dirty euros and old guys who can't handle skiing not just being racing and groomers?

everything you said about your cap construction and why you use it goes for sandwich, you cant fool anyone on that. and you hide behind your bindings like they are amazing.........but they arent all that great. alot of people are being really honest with you. be honest with us.
 
Does it bother you when people have a 4frnt sticker on a line ski? Is it OK to support multiple companies?
 
Our factory is in china so no job there. interns check our messsage board. email me with your contact info and I'll give you a slave job this week packing boxes with us one day. Pollard is the most progressive minded free thinker, cool guy, hard worker, sick skier, with a passion for the sport like he just got his first pair. His ideas have made so much sense and are so progressive that we have to use them, if we didn't the industry wouldn't be where it is. Eric rides Line because we respect each others vision and passion for skiing.
 
Every person is different, and so we need different skis. We offer a large selection of diff skis with diff specs to fit diff people. If the invaders aren't for you, I'm sure another pair are. The invaders are quite a bit diff in flex, geometry, etc. then the 1260

The krypton is a great design, I use it, no shin bang. we didn't get enough support from shops to continue making our version of the boots cause we're not known for boots. Its all good at least someone is making it.
 
to be seen, they couldn't commit to a solid plan for the park when we spoke with them next week. We'll post on our news if we hear otherwise
