now if this isnt to complicated for you guys i will try and look at this from a biznaz point of view.
yes line did start off as a skiboarding company, but when ski boards first came out line thought they were gonna go big, and began to mass prodcue skiboards. when ski boarding fell hard on its ass, line dropped the boards and began to solely make twin tips.
now you see when you first start a company (exspecially out of your garage) you tend to not have alot of cash for the fancy stuff such as machines needed to make certain things on skis. This is why most compants start off with a 90* sidewall on the skis, because they dont own a monoque capping machine.
i believe live did this for their first 3 years of making skis, and as we all know, 90* sidewalls make the ski strong, but they chip and delam like a mofo. hence the falling apart of many line skis.
so anywho as line went on to sell many more skis they can now afford to monoque cap skis. starting in the 2001 season all line skis were a 360* construction and have sold in fahken crazy amounts. so sure they did fall apart, but they sure dont anymore.
so now if you were sitting on the top of a successfull ski company such as line, would you make lets say $5 million in a company just selling twin tips? or would you try and push it to say $7.5 million by trying to appeal to more skiers by producing skis such as the darkside?
exactly
see line is a company that is still in the process of learning, and when learning you are either dead on, or dead wrong. i think for the amount of years in they have been in the game they are doing a awesome job. sure they branced from ski boarding, but as of today they are making some of the sickest twintips out there.
lets think about it this way, when the first 1080 came out everyone thought it was the shit and shelled out $1000 to own a pair, now compared to the new skis on the market we realize that those 1080s were heavy, stiff as shit, and had a craptastic core.
my point being sure line may have made some shit skis at start, but for their frist go at making a ski, and where they are today, they are well on their way to being one of the top companies.
