In Australia the Medicare levy is 2.5% of your taxable income. So as apposed to paying 100k for ACL surgery, you pay next to nothing. Plus we have subsidised drugs and we can visit a doctor or GP when ever we want.

And the long wait times? You have long wait times in America as well.

Seriously, how can you people be against universal health care? It's clearly the better option. Remember John Q the movie? Shit like that doesn't happen in Australia or Canada.

If the United States enacted a single payer system similar to Australia or Canada and decided to play fast and loose with medical patents in the same manner, neither Canada nor Australia would be able to afford a single payer system... Nor would any medical development be remotly profitable.

So I guess the companies are more important than giving healthcare to those who need it but cannot afford it? Right then

I live in the UK, yeah the NHS isn't run great but at least if I get some horrific illness I don't have to pay for my right to healthcare, at least i don't have to pay because I contracted an illness that wasn't my fucking fault

Why does America deny healthcare to the poor? Are they lesser people simply because they have less money? Fuck I'm pissed off i'm gonna stop
