Legit Ski Store?

So i need to buy some bindings and get them put on my skis.... Any one know a legit ski store in Calgary or in Banff? +KKK for help.... Cheers

The KKK scares me, please don't bring it upon me...

shop at sport-chek

by far the best selection and the workers there are so knowledgeable

hahah i wouldnt call fresh legit but ya im sure they would have bindings for you just like ski cellar, or any other ski shop in calgary.

What makes them not legit?

do you think they are a money laundering front for the mafia?

theyre a ski and boardshort shop, how much more legit can you be?

george clooney is the biggest douchebag of all time. i refuse to inflate his ego any further.

ski cellar...all I have to say is "Don" He knows what he is doing. The moustache holds knowledge and expertise. Don't let andy mount them though...hes a dick!

haha fresh is just like any other store in calgary. If you want to mount stuff I would seriously consider going to skiwest or ski cellar like wes said.
I dont know whats with all the hype about fresh being the "best" store in calgary.
YES, they do carry twin tips like every other store and sell them for retail like, every other store.
Nothing about fresh seperates them from other shops, other that they throw on freshtival every year and im sure they make a ton of money doing it.
I still think its funny how source, mission and every boardshop in calgary can sponser ams and help them out, yet fresh is so legit that they have random pros on there team (sarah burke, mike douglas?) instead of promoting the calgary scene and hooking up some kids from calgary with gear. I guess there too core for that.
Not to hate on fresh, but they are pretty much a ski cellar with the exception that they only carry twin tips.
Nothing makes the store more legit than any other regular ski store in Calgary.
So. ski stores in alberta step it up and put on rail jams like mission and source! please?

Hey Guys,I thought I'd clear up a few things,

Our Sponsored Pro Team is Eric Hjorliefson (Canmore), Chris Rubens (Calgary), Rory Bushfield (Balzac), Mike Henetiuk (Calgary). Our Sponsored Am Team is Megan Gunning (Calgary), Noah Bowman (Calgary), Janina Kuzma (Fernie), Andrew Taylor (Red Deer). Our Supported Team is Luke Cary (Calgary), Carter McMillan (Calgary), Austin Hunter (Calgary), Justin Francis (Canmore), Steve Hjorliefson (Canmore), Scott Morton (Calgary). MD and Burke haven't been on the team in 5 years.

We put on Freshtival because we were originally asked to by the movie makers and most of the proceeds got to sponsoring the local events at the local hills (Louise, Fernie, Sunshine, etc). As well, its a fun time for us and we love seeing the movies. True we sell boardshorts and summerwear, but skis and boots are the only things we sell all year round. I am sure you can understand that we need to pay the rent somehow in the summer. As soon as Calgary gets winter all year round we'll change immediately. We focus on skis and nothing else (ie Bikes, Snowboards, Skateboards, etc). and the staff at Fresh are all dedicated skiers only and are excited about skiing and try to be involved in the local ski scene.

Its true some of the stuff we sell is available at other stores, but I like to think we have the most complete selection of what you guys are looking for and the knowledge about it. Simply having it on the wall doesn't necessarily mean you are knowlegeable about it.

As far as where to get your bindings mounted, I would recommend somewhere with experienced techs working, but more importantly where you feel most confortable buying your skis and bindings.

Though I don't check the forums too often, I like to listen what you have to say, so please feel free to give me suggestions in person or by email.

Being sponsored by Fresh ranges from discounted product, free ski work and free Fresh gear to free ski gear, being connected with the right people, help with contracts and travel money.

One example, since Megan Gunning joined the Fresh Team, she has since been picked up by Oakley and Salomon, both at the national level. AND she gets free Fresh poles!

If you want free stuff from me, prove to me that you are worth giving free stuff to. Sponsoring someone is a business decision, I am essentially hiring that skier as a billboard. Being sponsored is like a job, albeit a fun one. Its not about just being the best, you are a spokesperson/faceman for the brand and have certain expectations.

Feel free to ask any of our team members if they like what Fresh does for them, if they didn't I am sure they wouldn't want to be associated with us.

Hope it snows and snows

Ben Gerwing should be 100% fresh team. Ben kills it and if billboard is what you want all the kiddies love Ben. im sure hes selling fresh product right now without even trying.

id sponsor someone for their individual riding style or something that makes then unique and sets them apart from others.. being stoked on their riding, not cause they are the best, not selling an image.

I just wanted to add that I have had skis mounted at fresh and steve did a really good job and I had no problems. I also know that steve has done a lot to promote our sport in Alberta and made money doing so. I applaud him for that. When I was younger I was a total dick to the whole Fresh sports image but over time and realizing that his shop has helped Alberta skiing and grass routes skiers, I am now pro fresh. I only deal with the cellar because I get free tuning and mounts/repairs. www.gnarstars.com

come to sports experts in canmore, i'll take care of yeah. ask for jonny, all the markers, sth 12's and 16's, tons of rossi, all the way up to the composite 10-18 binding, and get your skis mounted by me, been skiing since i could walk, park to big mountain, if you tell me core center i know what it is, i've heard/ seen some horror stories. also if you talk to me specifcally in the shop i'll hook you a reduced rate on tunes if you mention you saw this on NS. oh yeah if your looking for skis we got hellbents, obsethed, kung fujas extreme's,czars, suspects, threats, rossi S1 S3,S6's,volkyl gottamas, prophet 130's, 100's, blends, moships, lizzies.

oh yeah, i forgot to mention, i've been to fresh a few times and they have a sick setup, good store with good people. and have heard nothing but good things from people.

errr how so?

Skiing is big business, get over it.

skiing is also fun, and being a pro skier or being used as a jump off for corporate promotion is fun too. Im sure you can understand that living in a free market society.

Try to imagine how expensive your kit would be if there was no advertising or corporate support, and how hard it would be for your favorite local skier to be recognized without that support.

Dont be a dirty communist, or a socialist bitch hippy, money = happiness and happiness = more days skiiing and more days skiing potentially = money in your pockets if youre good enough. think about it!

I dont really agree with either of you, but your reply is straight up retarded. There is so much wrong with all of that.

I second this. Sports experts might have bad rep elsewhere, but I'm going to go to sports experts to get my skis mounted until jonny stops working there. Legit dude. Mounted my ehp's.

Maybe i'm not a very creative thinker, but I can't imagine how no advertising would drive the price of skis up. And what do you mean by corporate support?

Thanks

Less advertising=less knowledge about product=less people buying=less profit--->higher prices to profit same amount.

Convenient connection to make. But you're making it on your own... If Firefly started mass advertising, would that sway many people to purchase their skis?

Using your statement: Firefly would create more knowledge about their product = more people buying = more profit = lower prices to profit same amount?

doesn't make sense.

Firefly could never bring in a pro team. Product is too shitty. And I could definitely be wrong, but that's the way I see it working. I won't debate over this because I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to economics.

Well I am...

In this instance, the first thing firefly would do would be to go to their parent company. Whoever that is, and ask for an increase in budget, through the use of advertising and better merchandising they would be able to attract a reputable pro team, who would be seen by the young generation as the ones to emulate, ergo increasing product sales for firefly, etc etc

see it all comes down to dollars and cents. (I almost wrote sense, which in this case would be more fitting) You didnt buy your salomons over atomic or k2 because you like the brand better, or you didnt buy the 'core' brand because youre super cool and better than everyone else, no, you bought whatever you bought through conditioning. Marketing baby, you wont leave home without it, you dream about it, you cum to it, oh ya.

YOu might think youre above it, but youre not. no one is.

^ur the only one jerking off to your new jacket buddy
just stop posting, it will make you look better.

what you wrote has nothing to do with economics. thats comming from an economics major student in my 4th year.

iNice claim, ok maybe marketing, not economics, but since one feeds the whole process of the other... whatever.

oh and why would I jerk off on a new jacket and stain it? Stroke it on the old one son.

UNLEGIT SKI STORE
I ended up only spending 1 day in calgary and couldn't find fresh or ski cellar... So i figured I would buy some bindings in Banff.... What a stupid idea! I went to Mountain Magic in Banff and bought some Marker Freeride 14 bindings. I waited around in the store for an hour in hope that they would be mounted in time to get up the hill. They didn't get mounted in time so I went home and picked the skis up at 2. When I went back to pick them up the skis were in the bag. When I got home I found that instead of Marker Freeride bindings I had been given 2006 Atomic 6:14 bindings... WHATTT THE FUCKK!!! When I went back to the store the guy said that he was doing me a favour by putting these bindings on again... WHATTT THE FUCK, he went on to say that they are only bindings and don't really matter.... WHATTT THE FUCK....
Anyway I managed to get the same skis back and the money for the bindings and mounting back and I took my business elsewhere.

that sucks man..you should have looked up fresh or ski cellars addresses and then printed off a map from google maps or something... the internet has amazing powers hahaha

the guys at couloir ski and bike in canmore have always been super reliable for me and the staff are nice. no pretentious assholes working there, everybody is stoked about the snow all the time. its a pretty core shop, no sport chek skis there, just twin tips and big mountain sticks

Wipeout in red deer is so legit. bit of a drive if your coming from calgary or edmonton, but definetly worth it for all your backcounrty, park, and biking needs. they have a legit line up of products.

they deal: line, nordica, k2, armada, movement, salomon for skis

armada outerwear, oakley, sessions, spyder for clothing

smith, poc and oakley goggles

they have hestra, poc, joystick, and awhole bunch of other brands!
