but here is the cool thing, when i was at a basin i rode up with a natonal ski team coach and he said there only going to be doing that heel for 1 year, the old heel is supposed to be back next year because this year all the racers that used the new binding hated it for a multitude of reasons.
so victory is had
i just think it still looks like someone pooped an ugly binding.
I'm done with Salomon's. The pair of s912's I bought from them just feel like complete plastic, and are loose as shit, so matter how much the shop messes with them. Everyone is saying that the quality is getting better, but I'm not so sure yet. Besides, I'll be dealing with a ski thats over 125 at the waist. I need something burly.
well 916s are different from other sollys, being all metal with no toe wings to get loose, but the 816s are a good binding, are mostly mmetal and are both lighter and cheaper than most racestocks.
Yeah, so I've heard. I've actually held and examined some deadbolts before, and have been hearing a lot of good feedback on them... heavy, but bombproof.
a lot of that is just hype. i skied the 816s a lot of this year, and i was not happy with them. my px12s are better. of course, i like my FKS120s the most (best park binding out there in my opinion).
i had the 14 din vists, and i liked them for what i skied them, which was almost all pow, cliffs and trees, with a few jumps mixed in late season when my park skis snapped.
i pretty much only skied park on them. [this isn't claim] hitting the big booters at mammoth, they prereleased on me multiple times, landing switch and normal. even when i landed almost perfectly, they would sometimes just pop off.
that;s wierd, mine never prereleased and i took them off some 40 footers, along with the big jumpline in freeway late season (50, 65, 75), and im not small either at 5'10" 180lbs. though mine are the original nordica version, though i don't think that makes a difference. it does sound like your bindings were mounted incorrectly though, which would explain the prereleasing.
eh, it sounds like yours werent set correctly or mounted properly. i rode my 614s over 75 times this year in full park days, almost never leaving it and i never had a prerelease. im not gonna get into the argument but ive ridden pivots and theyve worked too but the brakes are too flimsy for me and i just feel better on deadbolts. and to rown i think, there really not that heavy. there lighter then my rossi axial 120 pivot heels and there lighter then the px series...
