Lady blew a stop sign and I ended up in the ER. Sick.

So, tonight I was riding back from working on my website at the coffee shop and when I got to all of 4 blocks from home, some lady completely blows a stop sign and smashed me right in the hip, sending me through the air ragdoll status.

I luckily rolled out of it mostly and didn't have a serious concussion, but the damage elsewhere was done. Both knees are swollen, my wrist is sprained, my face is all scraped up and I have a hematoma on my hip so massive that it would be hard to do the same falling hard on a handrail in the park... I got fucking rocked...

After 5 1/2 hours in the hospital, I finally got sent home, but it's going to at least a few weeks till I can do anything, and that pretty much ends my ski season then and there.

Fucking horse dildos...

Sucks man. I think about something like that happening every time I hop on the bike, people in cars just don't think about cyclists.

for real though, that sucks dude. as much as I'm sure you don't want to be one of "those people", you need to lawyer up. the hospital bills are going to be expensive...not sure what your insurance status is, but you could easily be looking at several thousand dollars.

hope you heal up well, man.
 
Vibes buddy, hope you make a fast recovery, bitch needs to learn how to use a stop sign, send her the hospital bills and then some and she might just think about learning a thing or two about how to drive!
 
If its proven already she ran the stop sign...get a lawyer. Medical bills are going to be expensive. Plus you can definitely get compensation for missed time from work, etc. Thats just idiotic driving on her part. Wouldnt be surprised if she was on her cell phone or distracted.
 
Vibes...I was hit before but wasn't really injured...hope you have a speedy recovery man and get some compensation for the nut sack that is your hip.

Did you stop at the sign? I've had people blow through stop signs when I'm on my fixie and usually if I stop and look both ways I can at least see em coming and try to save my ass. Plus if I've stopped and start again, I'm not moving at full speed for several seconds so I can avoid a car more easily.

Not tryna put any blame on you though man, that's a shitty situation. Hope you heal up quickly!
 
Haha. I'm hoping I don't have to actually sue her and I can just settle with her insurance company at an adequate amount.

I have healthcare as far as I know, so all of this should be covered. I've already tallied up nearly 8500-10 grand in property damages and time missed from work/ rent payments/expenses. Not to mention the damages occurred from my pain/suffering and healthcare expenses...

I'm probably not going to get as much as I'd be claiming, but if I get something back here it would be a lot of help. I'm already having to cancel job opportunities because I'm not going to be 100% for at least two months. I mean, I can't even walk or put even the slightest amount of pressure on my right leg without having taken a couple norcos.
 
Same thing happened to me on a longboard. And I was wearing shorts so I had road rash over my entire ass cheek and leg. And bruised. And then they drove off.

I'm sorry man, people suck

Oh, I'm well aware of that... If I don't receive adequate compensation in settlement, I'm definitely taking this further... or at least threatening to take it further.

i just recently finished a lawsuit with State Farm's auto division so feel free to hit em up if you have any questions. I was the one sued, so might be able to tell you what to expect.
 
no offense, but i was expecting "i got rocked" and a trip to the hospital to show a little more than a couple tiny scrapes and a bump. looks like you fell off a bike.
