What kind of job are out there in the ski industry. I'm trying to get ideas to look into. There is ski instructing, or being a pro, but what are some mroe realistic jobs. Branch off into any tangent, I wanna hear anything and everything you can do with skiing.

Well, you could work at a ski shop! But, jeez, that might be tough, cuz you know, there aren't too many ski shops around anymore, cuz skiing just isn't cool anymore. Maybe you should take up snowboarding.

when I say jobs, I mean more like carrers that you can persue in the industry, not an after school job at your ski shop.

theres not many careers in the ski market, id say be a lift operator and work your way up, or go into real eastate or mountain designing, work at a ski shop and work your way up to maybe owning it or manager, or own a restaurant

i cant describe the vibe i get when i drive by 6 people and 5 i hit

Not true I have friends that are designers at k2 (Art Degree)

Public Relations, Accounting, Marketing, Human Resources, Product Testing, Management, Shop work (not at a ski shop).

Remember a ski company is a 'company' they need designers, tester, accounting, etc.

You can work in a shop or a resort, but most of the time that is just season work.

You can also rep, but that is HARD to get into, they let go reps like its going out of style, so the good ones change companies. Or get corporate jobs with in there company.

Plus check out things related to skiing. I.e. Oakley, they have a few good jobs (IT, Marketing, Accounting) on there website.

Good luck...

jigalo... take aspens gay and lesbian ski week for example, just a few hours of hard pounding of your tender rear door by the quivering love shafts of several flagrantly homosexual men could put you in the clear money wise, and as an added bonus you could make money off testing experimental drugs on all the stds that you are bound to recieve

If you have a 1380 SAT and a 86.71 GPA... what does everyone say? Not good job, not 'O wow, thats awesome!' No, they say things like 'You are an underachiever'

i'm planning to major in resort mangement/ marketing.....there's alot of california state schools that specialize in recerational mangement

I think you need a basic level fo EMS training and then Avie courses for a patroller. But you seem to be looking for something year-round so that might not be it.

Try Colorado Mountain College, they've got a Ski Resort Management program. I know they used to and check that school in Michigan too. Ha, Michigan...I used to ride there, then I went to Whistler for spring break and never came back. Sorry, just reminiscing.

I know that alot of the company websites have job listings posted on there (k2 I know had merchandising positions avail.), if anything just submit your resume to the company via the website. Just follow up on it and be proactive about getting a job with them.....and use power words like 'proactive'....can you tell I just got my first job out of college a few months ago?

I'm an office guy at Whistler Blackcomb - its year round, and I do pretty good for days on hill: 22 so far this year and counting. I've been doing this job for 4 years now, but I had 5 years before that slugging it out in Ski School until I found something better. No matter where you go mind you, if you are looking for a career-style job (marketing, management, whatever...) chances are you are going to need an education first - a Bachelor's degree or the like.

I know ski patrol is seasonal but wouldnt being a mountain bike patroller or whatever they call them extend your season? Since so many resorts have mountain biking now it might not be a bad idea.
