I hear so many people say we need to keep skiing away from rollerblading or inline or whatever you call it. What do you think Urban rails are? Thats pretty much rollerblading because it sure as hell isnt skiing. Sliding rails took me about 2 minutes to learn and it's just stupid, theres no point.

I know this might offend a lot of you, but look at the big picture, if you're not turning and you're not on snow, you arn't really skiing. Hitting a rail in your backyard does not count as skiing, sorry. If you want to jib trees or rocks as a part of a creative line or whatever I'm all for it, but standing around the park sliding metal rails with your hands by your sides trying to look as cool as possible is just stupid

I agree with jibbing is dumb. I like hitting the occasional rail or tree in the backcountry, but when I hear people say "lets go jibbing" they sound like fags

 
why should it matter that its "technically not skiing cuz ur not on the snow", its still fun. so does that mean when u go off a jump its dumb cuz its not really skiing cuz ur not touching the snow??

fist of all who the fuck ses lets go jibing second of all it is skiing because skiing dosnt have to be on snow and your even ustilizing the snow to do the rail you ski up to them and ski away from them. just because your not touching snow that dosnt mean its not skiing when you hit a jump its skiing and your not touching the snow. skiing is anything you do with skis on your feet. rails are just another cool aspect of the whole big picture.

haha i dunno if skiing is anything you do with skis on your feet, cause i could go to class or something with skis on and i would't be skiing. jibbing is cool, you just can't restrict yourself to just that. ski all over the mountain.

i agree and disagree. i personaly not a fan of rales, and would rather be skiing all mtn stuff. but i also think guys that own rales are crazy and deserve mad props

Dont misunderstand me, people who can gap 30 feet 270 on a rail do all kinds of crazy variations is impressive, it takes a lot of balance and talent to do, but then again so does professional "Razor" scooter riders

i like rails most of the people that say they dotn like rails cant do them or suck at them then when they try and get good they find it fun

 
its because we dont have enough snow carve or hit up some pow. ill take skiing groomers over skiing park any day. when u live in connecticut it gets a little boring so fuck off dude. anyone on this site would take powder over jibbing

rails are a part of skiing, but i'd MUCH rather be skiing powder than park. if it's a powder day i won't touch the park at all.

well heres a question... when snowboarders hit rails and shit is THAT snowboarding or is that them leaning towards skateboarding???? its basically the same thing as skiers hitting rails....its just a progression of the sport. snowboarding has just been doing it for longer

 
I just started doing rails and I think theyre alot of fun but if you dont like them just dont do them. Keep an open mind and dont complain.

 
Yeah rails prematurely ends the life of your skis. Just like what skateboarding does with your shoes. That is why I hate X-TREME SPORTS. Unless I had t3h munniez then I'm all over them.

who cares whether its technically skiing or not. You may think its stupid but the great majority of people dont. Its a personal preferance whether you want to or not. Just because you hate it dont rag on other people and say that jibbing is gay, people have there reasons for doing it or not. So just leave it alone and let people ski, jib and jump whatever they want to.

Whe you hate your job you dont strike. you just go in everyday and do it reeaally half-assed. its the American way!

Id rather jib natural obsticles at the hill. I love jibbin, but I think rails belong on the street not the hill. I prefer jibbin handrails in their environment THE STREET not at the hill. but since snowboarders brought rails to the hill ill slide them there too.

When you have skis attached to your feet you are skiing neverless what you are doing. It could be hitting a rail, a jump or clipping into your skis with Rastafarian Ipath shoes and walking around the house quacking like Duck Man because you're stoned off your ass, it's all skiing.

hahahahaha thats like telling a little kid santas not real, hes prob crying in his room. rails are lots of fun it adds a new technicality that cant be acheived on jumps or in big mtn. trust me I'll take a powder day over a perfect park anyday! but I live eastcoast and parks all we have most of the time. I ski park cause its fun not to keep my hands by my side and look cool. Ive seen vids of myself 80% of the time I look like an ass but I dont care its fun.

I hate faggets that fail to see the talent, creativity, and dopeness from something, and therefore disrespect something, just because it doesn't quite fall into their mindset towards "what" the sport is.

Big mountain confined skiers (some) seem to have a disrespectable regard to "park rats" and "jibbers", and choose to disregard their "antics" as a low-skilled waste of time, because its not where nature intended it to be done when skiing was invented. Progressision can't be confined ... except skarachuting.

wow, bad thing to say. This is Newschoolers website. Rails are a big part to this. Not only is it a good addition to skiing, it's plain fun. I just started and I can't get enough of challenging myself on kinks and disasters. So fun.

 
I was half joking. Yes, I realize i'm still being hyprocritical, but a line has to be drawn.

You can look at the same situation in big mtn. skiing (I don't neccesarily support this argument, it just came to mind); the huge, balls-to-the-walls cliff hucking, with the landing gear being your back/ hip, followed by the skier/stuntman standing back up, and reume skiing their line. Some woudn't consider an unstomped landing (with their skis, not body) to be a success.

Again, I'm not supporting this.
