Japan Newschoolers Roll Call

We have a member of our crew who doesn't have epic pass who could use this. I'll PM.

A few other Qs...

When the season gets going, are people riding with a beacon shovel probe inbounds?

Anyone been to onsens with tattoos?

You should have avy gear if you’re going into avalanche terrain. If you don’t know what Avalanche terrain is probably don’t venture too far out of resort. In bounds is definitely fine but if you’re going through the gates avy gear isn’t mandatory (except mizu no sawa) but you should really have it and the know how to use it.

Onsens in the Niseko area are okay with tattoos for the most part but in rural Japan they are very much against them. Usually there will be a sign informing you, but not always. Also don’t bring alcohol inside them.

Is anyone leaving Niseko that is willing to sell me a szn pass lol. Will pay good dollar

Just a warning to all the Niseko folks, if you're using passes that aren't yours, they have a camera at every rfid gate on every lift, and there are people inside the Hirafu gondola building watching and comparing the pictures. So if you want to use someones pass make sure to cover up with a balaclava

Another question: travel insurance.

Did anyone get any sort of insurance for their trip? An ambulance only option seems like it might not be a bad idea...

Heading to Japan Jan 22-Feb 11, starting in Hakuba then heading north. Haven't booked accommodation yet planning to follow the snow and any suggestions. hmu if you wanna meet for on hill or touring or tips. Cheers!

We shot this segment at Kiroro & Shimamaki Snowcats, PM me for info on locations if you're interested, we had a good time at both those spots. Staying in Otaru can be a good call to save some dough and you can even surf while you're there

Anyone in Hakuba at the moment? Heading there early next week and wondering which resorts have been best recently with the current snow situation. I’m making the assumption there’s no tree skiing open yet

Thinking about Hakuba early March. Which resort has the best spring park? Also if people wanna link up brethren let me know

Hakuba 47 has a pretty sizeable park with its own lift. Hakuba 47 shares a mountain with Goryu on the other face. If you're living in Echoland (aussie land) its a 10-15 minute walk to the lifts with a simple river crossing.

I heard Tsugaike has a good build for a park - thats about 30 minutes up the valley by bus.

Great info, thank you! Leaning towards 47 right now so probably gonna find some accommodation near there
