Honestly its been pissing me off lately because i suck at park skiing compared to most people. Is it because where i ski? no extremly good riders or good park? Or is it because i dont push myself hard enough? Because theres those kids that pick up skis there first day and they can already kill it and stuff... If there is some secret please let me in... sorry for the rant, needed to let it out...

ski with kids better than you or kids you like to ski with, try new stuff, ski for fun, and ski as much as you can.

ok heres the secret, make a concoction of ketchup, cheese, onions, salt, sugar, and beets, blend it and shotgun that shit!!! afterward you will be throwin dub corks like nobodys buisness!!......................Jk there is no secret

tall tees and fulltilts make you better.............................

nope its all about practicing as much as you can and having fun, also if you practice on tramps, it will get you more comfortable in the air.

just like anything else practice leads to progression also like stated above try and link up with some dudes who are better then you maybe get some advice while skiing with them and try an push yourself to improve based upon how comfortable you get with new tricks...

Ski with two other people: one on your level, and one that's much better than both of you. The really good one will show you how stuff is done, and the guy at your level will learn with you. Everything he does, you will want to 1up, and it'll become a crashfest. But you might learn something.

Yeah i just decided that rhis summer for mtb and rolling... I wish i would have decided that in winter

Ski every day, be willing to hike for ridiculously long periods of time to get a trick.Just do shit, don't think about it that much. The more instinctual it is, the better it will often go. This obviously doesn't go for tricks that you haven't done on tramps/diving boards.Ski with people who are better than you.Huck your tricks off of everything. If you can do a switch three, do it off a cliff. Then do it off a bigger cliff(really impressive btw, and ridiculously easy). If you can do tap 180 in the park, do it somewhere on the mountain. If there is a random roller that nobody is tricking off of, then trick off it.Be dedicated, remember that the only reason the pros are pro is because they wanted it more than everybody else. You have to ask yourself if there is someone who is willing to work harder than you. If you find the answer is yes, then make it no.Compete, no matter how badly you get owned. Getting destroyed in a comp is one of the best motivators in skiing.Push yourself. Hit bigger jumps, do your tricks off bigger jumps. If you can hit it comfortably, chances are you're ready to start throwing tricks off it.Don't skip features. If you see a rail that you think is a bit too gnarly, try it anyways. The worst that could happen is you fall off it. Obviously there are exceptions, but don't ever skip something you know you could probably do.

if there is i definitely dont know it, but someone throw up that allen iverson video for emphasis on practice and that should be pretty accurate

TRY TYPING IN CAPS, I DONNO IF IT WORKS BUT I HEARD TANNER HALL TYPES IN ALL CAPS, SO THAT MUST BE WHY HE SLAYS SUPER HARD. IF YOU DONT START TYPING IN CAPS, ILL LET YOU KNOW IF I GET BETTER AT SKIING BECAUSE OF THIS POST!

hes got it. spin off everything you see...tail tap revert 270 signs and trees. any little bump can be used to spin off of...event he ground...practice skiing switch everywhere...and have fun!!! practice practice practice!!!!!

i know it can be frustrating when people get stuff right away. i must have spent at least a good 20 hours hiking a flat box this year before i got 270 off solid. everyone else i ski with would go take laps or id meet up with them later...and i would hike all day to get it right. but it payed off in the end!

I dont know man, Id say smoke a lil herb, head up into the bc on a powder day with some bros, and build a booter with a powder landing. Between the soft landing, the intoxication, and the big mountain bro-fest, your bound to get goodvideotaping yourself is great too, because you can see exactly what you did wrong. You get good at interpretting your falls and your stomps, and knowing this is part of your air awareness, which always is good

I rewrote my earlier post because everybody seemed to like it.
The ten commandments to successful park skiing:1. Ski every day and be willing to hike for ridiculously long periods of time to get a trick.2. Just do shit, don't think about it that much. The more instinctual it is, the better it will often go. This obviously doesn't go for tricks that you haven't done on tramps/diving boards.3. Ski with people who are better than you.4. Huck your tricks off of everything. If you can do a switch three, do it off a cliff. Then do it off a bigger cliff(really impressive btw, and ridiculously easy). If you can do tap 180 in the park, do it somewhere on the mountain. If there is a random roller that nobody is tricking off of, then trick off it.5. Be dedicated, remember that the only reason the pros are pro is because they wanted it more than everybody else. You have to ask yourself if there is someone who is willing to work harder than you. If you find the answer is yes, then make it no.6. Compete, no matter how badly you get owned. Getting destroyed in a comp is one of the best motivators in skiing.7. Push yourself. Hit bigger jumps, do your tricks off bigger jumps. If you can hit it comfortably, chances are you're ready to start throwing tricks off it.8. Don't skip features. If you see a rail that you think is a bit too gnarly, try it anyways. The worst that could happen is you fall off it. Obviously there are exceptions, but don't ever skip something you know you could probably do.9. Learn lots of tricks. The more rightside and leftside stuff you do, switch and forward, off axis, inverted stuff you do the better you'll get at everything. Do it all.10. Be diverse. Learn rail tricks, box tricks, hip tricks, jump tricks, pipe tricks, silly tricks like hand drags and butters, and generally just try to be as good as you can be at everything. This will not only make you look good, but allow you to progress your skiing no matter the conditions, whether windy or sunny, slushy or icy, hard or soft, jumps or no jumps.

I rewrote this so I could post it on the wall in my room(lol), if anyone else wants to do the same then go ahead. Didn't really get a chance to do this due to coaching most of the time this past season, but I aim to take my skiing in this direction next season.

SUSPENDERS man....i sware to fucking god, they are the key. you can sag at any level you desire without a dam belt restricting your shit.

there is in fact a deep dark secret to being good. if you were not told, then you were not chosen and, you will in fact NEVER progress. so basically......your fucked.

mat ur not gonna get any better at park at mission, we just dont have the park for it. get a pass to stevens if you wanna ride park, or open ur eyes and see park is not real skiing and go destroy the whole mountian! why do you think i can only hike a box like 4 times before getting bored

aite, heres my 2 cents:a lot of the advice given, and i really like the way people are thinking. most people have said practice, but i would say that you have to at least match your practice with how ballsy you are to move onto the next trick. its a fine line, you cant just practice the same trick and get it steeze but them puss out of every other trick, but you also cant try everything and give up on each one that you don't land. about skiing with friends, make sure that the person wont make fun of you for being worse, that sucks pretty bad. lastly, about not being scared to get hurt, there are 2 things that help me with that. first, watch the news or think about someone you know who has died in a car crash. might make you sad, but might also realize how much better it is getting hurt trying a new flip that getting hit by a drunk. second, you just kinda gotta accept that everyone goes through that kinda hurt on their way to being a good skier. hope this wil help a little (at least) and just have fun shredding man!

sack up and commit!

haha truest statement i've ever heard. i'm a little vag and need to sack up to shit. I gotta get over being scared of stuff.

the secret is that you already know the answer. there is no secret. you are basically asking a rhetorical question here. just like anything else, its all about hard work. some have natural talent and some dont, but its those he keep trying over and over again are those who are successful. you have to think that you will get it eventually. Just because u see pros sticking everything doesnt mean they are! they are falling too! Sure many learn quicker then others but overall it all comes down to hard work and pushing yourself. Pretty much everyone has said this already, therefore, proving my point that there is no secret.

lol, awesome thread. Im gonna tell you a story alright, its kinda relevant.

So im chilling with my cousin drinking beer a couple years ago. Hes one of those crazy ass meatheads. You know he rides freestyle motocross, did a backflip his first day one a snowboard, one of those fearless fucker. So were sitting there and im talking about skiing and shit and he says " you know dude i really thought that you had some potential to go far in skiing, but you just dont have it dude" So i replay "the fuck dude, whats that mean". He says "well dude like today on the river you wouldnt try wakeboarding". "So what does that have to do with skiing" i reply. "you were too afraid dude (i was like 13 and terrified of water, ive had some bad experiences). He went on to say that extreme sports are not just a lifestyle, but a state of mind. Well i was really insulted that he said that, and really after that day i changed. Im not saying that im all that good, but i crossed over that line of being a wanna be, and really started to try. Its all about looking at it and thinking " if someone else can do it, i can to" or " think its possible, im going to try it". Its like everyone says on here, you have to commit, but it applies everywhere everyday. Extreme sports really are a way of life, you want to get better test yourself in everyway. Not sure that girls into, fuck it try it anyway make the first move. You know wakeboardings not my thing, im not gonna try, fuck it do it anyway. Your playing bal with your friends but you suck so you half ass it anyway, fuck that throw down as hard as you can. So douchebag on the street says something disrespectful, fuck it hes bigger than you call him out anyway. I could go on for ever. But really if your looking for someway to get rid of that fear in the park this summer, think about this next time your afraid to do something.

Sparknotes: Quit being a pussy, you know you are one most of us are compared to the pros. Be hardcore in everything you do and youll be hardcore on the slope
