Is Tahoe on track to have another horrible season?

Tahoe is on track for a come back. I'll calling 350" before the end of the season.

Y'all can take your negativity and fuck yourselves with Squaw's broken sewage pipeline.

Hahahahahaha, just shit ALL over the white ribbon of death.

Were you there? A buddy that coaches at alpine said it was a shit show, literally.

It was DUMPING on that single run though. Man, I could go on and on.

Fuck man, I bought pow skis last year and have only ridden them twice in one and a half seasons. At least Northstar's park isn't too bad.

No, I honestly haven't even skied Tahoe this season and I have both the Vail and Squaw pass. All 14 of my ski days so far were in Summit County in October and early November.

a base is the part of your skis that you tear to shreds when skiing the sierra mountain range in the '13-'14 "winter"

or base could commonly be referred to as a number less than 20 on a mounain's homepage online also during the current winter

My brother said it's raining (!!!) in Reno right now, so hopefully it's cooled enough in Tahoe so this storm delivers.

I'm not in tahoe, but i'm heading out there in a couple weeks to visit and ski with my buddies so i've been tracking the weather fairly closely. Looks like the it's rain in tahoe right now as well, should switch to snow tonight

squaw says 6 and i believe you that it looks like less at base but there's gonna be a huge difference between base camp and upper mtn, and isn't it supposed to keep going thru today?

oh yeah, i don't doubt 6 at mid mountain. And i guess it is, but the base still looks like its sloppy. Hopefully the upper half can end up with a foot or more.

gonna head out soon and see how lower mountain is fairing at squaw. currently big flakes falling on the valley floor. no upper mtn today :( but tomorrow will probably be raging. will report back, but its good to finally see some snow

skied from 2-4 today at Squaw. straight scraped out bullert proof with a select few good turns. I only skied Red Dog though. uppr mtn is foreseably closed. going to alpine tomorrow in hopes for a few more options. barely snowing right now.

no hate dude but how can you be negative about the conditions when you showed up at 2? im not around tahoe right now but i got plenty of pics from my friends that showed there was lots of fun to be had yesterday

There is no longer a "on track"

Tahoe is having a bad year. Horrible year actually. Probably one of the worst, if not worst, on record. (three years ago was just as bad probably)

At least the water content from this last storm helped (Helped overall...not the snow)

1.5" of rain first with 6" of mank did more harm then good...

youre thinking of 2 years ago, 2012. 2011 was epic

and i was there in 2012, march brought the snowfall up to like 70% of average, translation, march was pretty sick. not saying it makes up for the bad year or saved it but it was a major consideration

pretty much this. I was out pretty early and it was a little better today but it's also more crowded. still not enough snow. typical squaw too, didn't open upper mtn yesterday, claimed new terrain today, then all the opened is gold coast and they're so kindly letting us hike sibo. apparently shirley and sibo will open tomorrow, probably with ridiculous crowds and gapers from the bay. i'm officially a very bitter, very jaded local who is moving very soon.

south lake seems like it got more snow. anyone riding kirkwood or sierra and can update us?

i saw pics that looked mad fun from that today, why wouldn't you do that?? way better than anything else you've had this year, no?

you are jaded! not that i blame you but man

it was really good up top above 8500 at Heavenly the past 2 days but there was a really noticeable drop off the lower you went.

I want being negative. I was giving a description of what our was like while I was there. I skied both Alpine and Squaw today. Alpine is doing a lot better right now. conditions obviously aren't ideal amd the rain didn't help but there's plenty of fun to have out there.

sibo was dope yesterday! hike kept the rest of people away so i didnt mind.but yea, they coulde given us shirly yesterday and not saved it for the public as usual.

Commence an EPIC jinx:

Low pressure will setup in the Gulf of Alaska next weekend sending storms into the West Coast from Canada down to CA. The GFS has now joined the European models for several runs in showing the precip pushing far enough South to bring a decent snow event next weekend. There is colder air associated with this system so the snow levels would be low enough for all snow on the mountains. The concern was the low pressure in the Gulf of Alaska would setup too far West and the ridge off the CA coast would keep the precip just to our North. For now it appears that won't be the case, at least for the start of this pattern next weekend. We won't talk about snowfall amounts until we get with 5 days on Monday, but looking at current model runs it would be measured in feet.

Yup, rode kirkwood Saturday and Heavenly Sunday.

Snowed all day at heav Sunday, surprised they only reported 1", they got a boat load more.

Kirkwood was good but beware, 2 core shots half the size of my pinkie. Kirkwood has the best snow in the basin. If these storms over the next week come to fruition then the wood will be fucking prime.

Sentinel bowl is still pretty hairy.

Skied the fingers/chutes off of skiers right of 6, if you went around the rope, fairly thin, had to be light on your feet, sun exposed, buddy got cliffed out (he's an idiot.)

Dick's drop was skiing really fun and pretty filled in for how little of snow there has been.

Honestly everyone complaining is being a little bitch, be happy we finally got some fucking snow.

Heavenly did only get one inch yesterday. I was sitting in my lift hut watching it snow all day and then measured in an untouched area that had been groomed the previous night and despite it snowing all day.. It really was only an inch.

I probably gave you a peace sign.

It was surprising they only got that much, I guess it's been so fucking long since it snowed I have no idea what heavy and light snowfall looks like :(

i was there saturday as well. the snow was nice at least just wish it was a little deeper off the sides. i was on new skis so i didn't stray off too far just yet. did setinal bowl once and didn't wanna risk it goin back.

also my buddy took a good little channel out of his board. luckily it wasn't quite a core shot so not too terrible but still could use a lot more snow

Skied heavenly on saturday 2/1. It was so much fun. I wasn't expecting the good conditions. Skied untouched powder off of sky and dipper all day. So much fun! And barely any clouds in the sky. FINALLY
