my ipod fucking sucks. its a 20 gb 4th generation. ive had it for 9 months and my battery lasts about 4 hrs not instad of whatever it was supposed to last in the first place. i also went to put mor songs on it and it deleted all my artists except from 50 cent to bob marley (alphabetically). now i have 31 fucking songs and 3-4 hrs of battery life

man, ive baught two, both have cracked the screen, so i basically have two 20 gig shuffles

it says on apples website i think that if you charge it untill it says its full then it wont actually last as long as if you charge it for the recomended time (5 hours i think) try that and see if it works.

because its itunes. it autosynchs-basically makes your ipod do w/e your cvomputer does. so if you mooch a bunch of tracks off a friend then go back to your old computer it deletes all the new songs off your ipod. it also means that you always have to have a copy of every song onm your ipod & your computer. its fucking shit.

did anyone see that shit about the "revolutionary" ipod that plays videos? what a crock of shit!! irivers have been doing this for yearsm, their batteries last longer, theyre plug & play & theyre cheaper, but all the fucking retards out there are still gonna go get ipods.

i have apple care on my ipod so as soon as it doesnt hold a charge....bam its going right back to apple.

what? you mean A$400 for a versatile 40 gig mp3/wma/ogg/jpg/gif/avi player that doesnt fuck up compared to $500 for a 20 gig mp3 only heap of shit?

take your head outta your arse.

ipods are so sick...you just have to learn how to use them right...there is a way to change the auto-update feature on ur itunes..just mess around its not that hard

actully, apple just released new ipods with 2.5" color screen that plays mp3/aac/jpg/gif/mpeg-4/H.264(avc). For 299 you get the 30 GB and for 399 you get 60 GB. The colume (in cubic inches) of the iRiver is 8.64, versus a much more compact 4.23 for the iPod. So basically you need to take your head out of your ass.

And for the guy with the battery problem, if it doesnt last half of the advertised charge time (12 hrs), apple will replace it. I had it done on my 40gb, came back in like a week. Peace

No, if you leave it on after it has a full charge, it acutally goes backwards and starts draining the battery. Hopefully its still under warrenty... Ive had mine replace twice because the batteries just get worn out... As far as losing the music goes, I know there is a way to transfer music from one comp to your iPod to another comp, I think you have to get an addition to iTunes or something... I'll ask my friend about it... That sucks ass though, seriously, I would be lost without my iPod or other means of protable music...

iRivers may have been doing this for years, but battery life on the new iPods is 20 hrs vs iRiver's 16, iPods are cheaper, and i have no fucking idea what you mean by plug&play.

Seriously, though, i know some kids that refuse to use iPods cause its apple...they make up bullshit excuses like these and refuse to see the truth. This fat kid in my history class hauls around a 40 GB toshiba gigabeat ($399 at costco) which is huge (7.6 cubic inches, about 70% larger than iPod) and he swears by it. He also rages about the Macs at school all day, so hes a fucking tool.

For the record, i'd like to quote iPod Battery FAQ- an independent site about iPod batteries.

"Q: Why didn't Apple use better batteries?

A: Apple uses the best lithium ion battery technology available from leading battery manufacturers. This is the best, most cost effective battery technology available given the requirements of the device. The lithium ion batteries that Apple uses are no different than the lithium ion batteries used by any other manufacturer, on products from portable music players, to laptops, to wireless phones. The battery should last most normal users the life of the product (several years)."

So why do iPod users go through their 300-500 charge cycles faster than anyone else? Maybe cause the iPod is enjoyable to use?

Sorry, I just had to rant.

if you mooch songs off your friend, say them to your ipods harddrive. at home transfer them to your files then from there to itunes.

plug and play means you dont need drivers to send the data to the MP3 player. with an ipod you NEED drivers and itunes to send the data to the ipod.

with a dell or something you can just plug it into the usb and send the data to the player. the drivers are included in the players disc space and install when inserted into the USB

this is wierd, my media player has 5000 songs, but i can't get itunes at 1000 to update library, cuz i am getting a 60GB ipod i think

yea this is why im not going to spend mad cash on an ipod...check out like iriver, or samsung even dude..they got good shiiiiiiiiiiiit

bottom line ipod suck nuts... Ive had 4 or 5 friends whos ipods just froze. Another friend of myn dropped his Ipod from a chair and like totally fell apart. Now i have some crappy 128 mb MP3 player and ive dropped it so many times its not funny. IPODS SUCK

you do realize that when you plug your iPod in a prompt comes up and it says "This iPod is linked to another library would you like to link it to this one you will lose all unsaved music" or something like that. And you can turn off auto updating and just drag and drop to the iPod. It's your fault you were too stupid to figure that out, not the iPods.

anyone with 1/2 a brain, or the initiative to look up some instructions can get by that. my friend and i do it all the time...
