what the hell where they thinking when they invented the machine gun, the atomic bomb, land mines, and agent orange? you would think the great minds would see the bigger picture. that shit makes me really fucking sick for sure. they werent smart they were fools blinded by greed. everyone of them should be lined up and shot. why the fuck didnt they say fuck you, im going to build something to actually help people? god damn i so pissed off right now. people suck!

ohh and another thing you know the bomb we dropped on japan? u know the one that killed thousands, and left generations of mutated souls? well yeah we didnt need to drop the bitch cause the war was over and the asians were beat to shit. the bomb was just a big show to scare the fucking commies. if  i was the pilot i would drop the bitch in the sea, flip off my officers and tell everyone that america fucking blows a big dick. people fucking suck and politicians are dirty rats, and mormons suck and conformity sucks and capitalism sucks and skiing rules!!!!!!!!!!!!

Based on the casualties from the invasions of Japanese heald Islands in the pacific, and how the japanese would fight harder on their home islands, estimates of the amount of American deaths in taking over Japan were upwards of 300,000. How the fuck would Truman tell 300,000 mothers that their sons lifes could have been spared while still raching the same goal. In war someone is going to lose and better them then us. Is war a good thing. No it is horrible. But they started it. and we were in it like it or not, so we might as well win.
 
True. I did a report on that subject and it is true, many lives, both Japanese and Americans were actually saved because of the bomb.

srry for posting this shit really. i just get freaked out when i think of war. my friend got back from iraq, locked himself in the closet and shot himself. why did he die? for what cause? i will never get my friend back. when will we have a  country that makes me proud to wave its flag?

Here is a true story from when american soldiers took over one of the smaller islands: They were having the local towns people surrender to them, and checking for weapons. one lady age 60-70 pulled out a hand grenade from her clothing and threw it at a group of soldiers. She killed three soldiers just like that. She knew she would be killed for doing it. but she still did it. basicaly incidents like that would have happend all over japan (they did on the smaller islands) 
 
Dude, condolences for your friend, I doubt anyone here has any idea what you are going through right now. I know you feel completely shitty now, but I think this is just you being angry because of his death. Instead of blaming a power structure or government, I think you should probably step back and just deal with what happened. Blaming someone is not going to help, and with NS, you're more than likely to get into an argument with someone when you bring up the US, which, lets face it, wont be good for you or anyone else. Give this some time, and if your questions still remain in a week, lets talk.

that sucks about your friend, one of my friends, friends that lived in whistler joined the army at 17, was in a house threw a grenade it bounced back and blew up in his face.

simply put, the advancement of weapons is always to better the methods of killing when being attack or defending. If we didn't have weapons, then we would suffer at the hand of those with them. Remember weapons were used for hunting at first, to help feed people, and then they were used instead of rocks at battles. The most destructive bombs we have, were reverse engineered to provide power to our cities that doesn't hurt the environment. What came from the atomic bomb, nuclear power, radiology, and chemotherapy.
 
Yah and not only that, but if you look at total war deaths worldwide from like the year 1700 or so up until now, they go up steadily to their peak around 1945...I think they topped out at like 15 or 20 million or something outrageous like that, but after the atom bomb they've dropped down to less than a million per year and it has stayed that way ever since.

So you wish people didn't invent better methods of defense? I don't know about you but I don't see any problem with a country or person defending themselves with weapons. The only problem is the jackasses who decided to use the weapons to attack rather than defend.

japan had yet to surrender. they were still a threat, although yes it was more of an act to show exactly what the us was capable of. Honestly man, if you sided with the nazis in ww2 you deserved to be nuked.

sorry to hear about your friend i really am but you need to remember that he knew what he was getting himself into when he joined the military.

know thats harsh and i feel for you and his family i really do but

being in the military myself their is no need for it....We dont have a

draft he signed up on his own, if he didnt know what war is all about

then he must have been blind....Regardless of what your job is in the

service(whether its infantry or cook) it supports one mission WAR. Im

not going to sit here and defending us being in Iraq or tell you its a

good thing but having been there its no where near as bad compared to

many other wars we have been in. WAR sucks it always has it always will

no one over in IRAQ is excited but they all know its something they

willingly chose to do!! There are other ways to cope than ending your

life!!

Its no ones fault but his that you wont get ur friend back. And if your not proud of your country thats ok, but the fact that they drop bombs and fight in wars sounds like a silly reason to hate it. Not going to find many countries out their that dont fight wars!
 
You do realize that most inventions weren't built specifically for military use, but were later appropriated them.  Many inventions that were designed by the military are now used much more by civilians, like microwaves.  Also, if the US didn't  designate so much money to defense R&D, tthen there wouldn't be as many of those inventions.  Blame the government, not the inventor who is just going on contracts and pursuit of knowledge.
 
i was trying to make a bad joke since there have been so many threads lately where canadians have been saying that the u.s is violent super power, trying to invade every little country we see, and implying that canada is a peaceful country.
