FYI, $1600 for a pass is with P2P, it's $1533 (w/tax) without. It's what I'll be paying this year, unfortunately. Oh, and those are early bird prices. With regards to the spirit pass, I thought person in Whistler was eligible provided they have proof of employment and residence in Whistler, though I could be wrong. Never done it myself. I only live in Whistler on weekends.
Nesters has great panini's at their deli for about $6 that are quite large, filling, and very delicious.
That sweet deal at Merlin's ends mid-November (just before Blackcomb opens), they had the same deal last year. So take advantage while you can.
And personally I really like Garfs, almost always have a good time there. I don't care much for Maxx Fish, perhaps I'm too old for that place. 80's night at Tommys is awesome, and Bills is also good. GLC can be a good time too.
Sounds like the search for a place to live is worse than ever this year. That sucks for all you guys up there. Not sure what availability is like in the Alpin/Emerald area, but the bus isn't really that bad. It really only sucks in the evening/night, which could be a problem if that is your work schedule. My cousin lived in Emerald last year (cheap too, $475ish) and worked at the Dublin Gate. He seemed to be able to make it work.
