I'm not trying to be a dick, maybe its just me cause my parents both work for the forest service, but has anyone seen a forest fire before? It's like they don't exist until they're close to where you live. Much bigger fires have burned, for example yellowstone 1988, to name one very many bad fires in the past 50 years. But these new fires COULD be that bad, but aren't even close yet. People seem to forget that every summer the entire western area of the country burns like a mother fucker. This time, its just close to homes, now everyones like OMG fires.
Again, not trying to be a dick, but i think its just the "pray for *insert state name*" pictures on facebook that are setting me off the most. People are acting like this has never happened before and i saw someone say global warming (whether they were serious or not) but thats another bullshit piece of propaganda im sure we'll get real sick of seeing on the news.
It sucks there are such bad fires right now, but thats the reality of the season. Winter was dry, most of the western part of the country is in a drought, there is a fraction of the snowpack from last year, which believe it or not makes a huge difference. We are going to have some record fires this year and unfortunately, some peoples houses/buildings/maybe even entire towns are gonna be effected. This shit happens every year, i dont get why people are freaking out more than they normally do, its not like people houses didn't burn down last year...
