In the process of enlisting into the Army

how is it ironic? I played college lacrosse and knew it would get people fired up on this site cuz your against everything that isnt thug or hipster.
 
it doesn't have oil ... but it has pretty much the highest poppy production in the world = legal and illegal drugs : morphine, codeine, etc. and heroine, opium, etc.
 
But it does have some of the most untapped minerals and resources in all of the world - lithium, copper ..etc don't kid yourself we have more interest in the middle east than just "freedom".
 
Ur right, which is why we have already sucked dry their 1 trillion dollar mineral deposit....o wait, we havent. Or havent even taken oil from iraq. But this isnt what this thread is for, i wanted to speak with other Soldiers. Either way the military is kicking ass and killing people that would not think twice about cutting your head off simple because your western.
 
True but when I see a 20 year old army guy that has a mouth full of chew and a john feet hat, I don't really respect them. My base is crawling with them.
 
Why do i owe it to the people who already died for liberty to take a huge risk with my life? They already died for liberty why should more men die in a pointless war? Yes i understand how great living in the US is and will be for about another 10 years. We will default on our loans and fall to being a 3rd world country. Its starting now the US is pretty much Sweden's Mexico when it comes to labor right now. I respect you for staying on the sinking ship trying to plug the holes but i am peacing out.
 
You know, this used to be a thread about a guy who was starting something extremely difficult and more than a little bit dangerous. Now it's a bullshit poli thread. Gotta love NSG.

America is pretty damn great and anyone who says different can shut the fuck up and leave. This guy is risking his life to serve his country and some of you are giving him shit about this being a bad war, fuck you guys. Thanks for serving man and I wish you the best of luck.
 
i support the military, but:

by looking at our recent history, it would be ill advised to sign up. One of the reasons i respect American soldiers so much is that they are often risking their lives for their country, even when their country has terrible judgment.

Now, some of you are going to say "well the Iraq war crippled Al Qaeda, and took down a ruthless military leader."

Well we did take down Sadam, but he was in no way a threat to America. Their attempts at making nuclear weapons ended in the 1990s, and there were no WMDs. As for Al Qaeda, they were not in Iraq until after we invaded. Even though Bush told us that we were invading Iraq in retaliation of 9/11 and because Sadam was a threat to America, he said "Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11" two years after the invasion.

The war in Afghanistan could have had a greater, and quicker negative impact on Al Qaeda, however the US's attention was on Iraq, where originally a more traditional war was being fought between two armies (for two weeks).

One of my aspirations is to fly FA-18 Hornets, but unless some major changes happen in how the United States decides whether or not to kill people, i will never join the military.
 
... because how can you start taking their resources and establishing a commercial relationship when the country is not stable and still in war ?

I respect you for your courage. As much as i absolutely hate the military, I respect soldiers.

The people sending you there and recruiting you are the real monsters.
 
I am currently in the Special Forces Qualification Course. Phase 3. Fort Bragg North Carolina.
 
How was Selection? My recruiter wants me to go 18x but after talking to some people they almost always fail and get sent to a leg unit.
 
Well thanks for your service man, appreciate it. But you should have gone blue man! I'm current;y stationed at Sheppard AFB here in TX for my tech school. And in roughly a month I will be shipped out to Spangdahlem AB is Germany for the next two years for my first duty station. If you say you still have not signed and you're looking to kinda go special forces look into the Air Force man. We have some BAD ASS groups. There is SERE, TAC-P, PARARESCUE, COMBAT CONTROLLER. All special forces that you never hear about but any Army/Marine group going on on a mission for the day would call you crazy if you told them one of the Air Force guys could not come along. The Air Force is very much into the war as much as all the other branches. No more calling us the chair force, we are out on the streets of Iraq, and in the mountains of Afghanistan as much as everyone else these days. Sorry to get a little off topic there man, but check it out if you say it's not too late. It's a bid decision and the Air Force takes care of you like no other. There is one Ssgt. here that was prior Army and he was telling me that once he was TDY, and the army was sleeping in tents and poopin in holes, and he looked across the street at the hotel that the Air Force was staying in. He said screw this and in so many words walked across and signed to the Air Force. You're gonna get treated like shit in the Army man no matter what rank you are, Air Force is way different and you will get the respect you earn from your superiors and will be proud of it. I was looking into being a PJ but i want more direct action mission focus, but ill agree the PJ's are Special Operations version of Special Forces haha.
 
With my end goal of being a Ranger, I actually do more thinking for myself on one mission than you will in your entire life, but thanks for the assumption.
 
Thats a pretty large assumption on your part as well. You will still go where you are told, do what you are told to do and answer to the guy above you, always. You may have to make decisions here and there but you will be making those decisions to follow the orders given to you.

Enjoy your life of servitude, it takes a certain type of person to take orders for the rest of your life (or at least your military life)

Me, I'll enjoy making my own goals, attempting to complete those goals and If I decide I want a change, I can have that change.
 
Never assumed, said with an end goal. An assumption would have been "Im going to be a Ranger." And I would never make that assumption, it disrespects those who wear the Scroll.
 
i love how most of your posts are just slamming someone using a political ideology, when in reality there are probably like 10 members who actually officially subscribe to a political party, or even care what group you lump them into.

 
hahahaha and the worlds gonna end in 2012 too huh? The US will default, as will many other countries, and it really will not do all that much for the average american. Have fun jumping ship, I will be riding it out for another 5 years until the economy turns, then will be making bank. This happens in every single recession/depression, people say it will never come back, but it always does
 
that is a legitimate statement but at the same time as a citizen of this country we deserve some level of knowledge. We shouldnt be told that we are going to war for one reason, then two years later have our president completely switch his reasoning and act like its ok. Also to your comment about how our armed forces are killing people who wouldnt hesitate to "cut our heads off", maybe thats because we invade their country and kill thousands of innocent civilians and throw their country into turmoil all for our own profit. I would be pretty upset too. Im not saying our armed forces are bad and i definitely think they are a necessity in this day in age, but we need to make smarter decisions with how we use them. We need to come more into align with what the rest of the world wants as well, not just do our own thing and say fuck everyone else. We cannot and should not police the world. Its not our place to tell people how to live.
 
Learn the lesson now. If your in the military don't argue with people. Its futile and ultimately will get you nowhere. Just move on.
 
the last time we fought for "liberty" was the civil war. WWI and WWII had their own reason that were legit but after that every war has been fucking pointless and a huge waste of american lives and taxpayers money.
