Before I go into this subject, I must get this off of my chest. Iraq is going to be a mess for the next 20 years at least. If you support what is going on over there, you can go down to your local recruiter, sign up, strap up, and ship off to the sand box. I know for a fact that there are hundreds or thousands of sons, husbands, brothers, uncles, and friends who would love to come back home rather than be over there. If you feel so goddamn strong about action in Iraq, you need to be a little proactive about it.
...now that I'm done with that... I totally agree that a puppet government is being installed over there in the sand box. More terrorists operate out of iraq NOW than before US occupation began! Essentially we have created a magnet and attracted this violence to us.
I don't know why the average moron here in America thinks that everyone around the world behaves in the same way we do. Over there Islam is king. Most of these people will do anything for their religion. At some point you can't stop them with an M-16. They hate the US so much they will kill themselves in attemp to stop us. They hate the US so much that they teach their children to kill themselves in attemp to stop us. This is a "war" than cannot be won. I know it's a terrible thing to say... but Iraq actually needs a dictator to run properly. This whole thing of democracy doesn't mix well into their culture. Because over there, it's not about republican and democrat, it's about religion. The "I'm going to heaven, you're going to hell" attitude. To these people, if a vote doesn't go the way the sunnis want it, someone may very well suicide bomb their Parliment... that doesn't happen here in the US.
Maybe i can put it this way... how would you like it, if an extremely powerful middleastern country invaided the US, overthrew our government because they said they could run it better. Their soldiers walked the streets day and night, their helicopters could be heard constantly, and they acted arrogent and made you feel inferior. I know it doesn't make sense because we know these people are better off now. But they know that we have other motives.
It is inevitable that there is going to be a major energy crisis in the next 50 years. Iraq is going to be a major foothold. Energy wars are coming.
Saddam was a terrible man, don't get me wrong, but this is a losing battle guys. Most of Europe was smart and stayed out of the mess. It cannot be won. Sadly, we have no choice but to stay now.
