The point of a defensive army, is to... Defend.
Hence the name. So if the defensive army is doing its job, why would we need to retalliate? The point of an offensive army is to fight somebody whos declared war on us. I don't recall Iraq openly declaring war on us, or any of our allies (except maybe Israel).
And a lot of soldiers are innocent. Like my brother. Haha he's just retarded and decided to join the marines, after 19 years of video games and anime.
He's just lucky he's smart and scored well on the military test thing they take, and got a military computer desk job away from the front line.
The soldiers are basically sitting ducks over there so long as the insurgents remain hidden, and just sneak attack the soldiers. I read an article recently stating that soldiers used to bring candy to give to the children, but now they are training young boys and arming them, so its now dangerous to even feed them. This isn't a traditional war, and doesn't deserve a traditional army to fight it. If you want soldiers over there maintaining order, protect them better somehow at least!
