I'm lying in a bed for 10 days. Here's my story.

You may have a seen an earlier thread on this asking if it was really worth it, so for those who didnt I'm too lazy to type exactly what I'm doing so direct your attention here: https://newschoolers.com/web/forums/readthread/thread_id/236565/

Basically, I'm participating in a medical study at the University of Colorado Hospital that is testing a new drug to decrease muscle atrophy for astronauts. It's a 19 day thing total, and Ive been here for 5 already. 10 of the days I have to lay flat in a bed. I start the lying down part tomorrow so I figured to help pass some time I'll make a thread on it. Why? you ask, well they are paying me $4,225 for this and I need it for rent on an apartment in Breckenridge. So that's about it really. I just finished a muscle biopsy and that was weird as hell and I'm just anxious to start this whole lying down thing. If you have any questions just post them here because I'll answer them since i really have nothing else better to do. I'll also post on this every day until I'm done with the lying down part of it all. word.
 
is there any garauntee that you get the money? haha that would suck if you end up not getting paid
 
Miniclip will get u thru about a day, but other than that stay on NS. oh...and what do u do whn u hav to take a shit or hav to piss?
 
well thats my summer already, sleep, watch tv, surf NS, and eat and shit. Bring a guitar if you play. I usually end up playing in my bed for hours cause my guitar is right next to me.
 
Yes the money is certanily guaranteed otherwise i wouldnt be doing this. And as far as going to the bathroom, I pee in a fucking jug thing and then they have this thing thats basically a portable toilet and they roll it up to your bed and thats the only time i get to sit up straight
 
Get some movies via torrents, or games for that matter. Max Payne 2 kept me entertained for a while, also Sim City 4 is sick (dont let anyone tell you otherwise. And make sure to get the rush hour add on!)
 
I am completely flat starting tomorrow. They have this thing for the laptop that mounts it so i can still use the computer while lying flat. And I've got my xbox too so that'll keep me occupied so i can master ever game known to man. And yea i would bring my guitar but i have a roomate and i dont want to bug him really.
 
yea no worries on that its legit. and sadly none of the nurses but one is hot which sucks, but we get 2 showers during the 10 day period and the rest of the time they give you a washcloth to clean with and thats it i guess. But i do get a massage therapist every other day, and she's pretty cute

wow you are going to want to stand up SOOOO bad. and if the drug dosent work that well your gonna be sooo sore when u do eventually get up. but my advice, sleep as much as you can. sleeping will be so good for your body. no one ever gets enough. but yeah if you have a laptop and xbox, it should be manageable. and if you get a hot nurse to sponge bathe you, sweet talk her into giving you a sponge bath happy ending.
 
dammit if you would read where i already posted that you would have the answer now! they have this like portable toilet thing and thats the only time i can sit up straight
 
My dad did the same kind of thing, he volountered though and didnt get paid. Some medical study of the human mind.

Anyway good luck, alot of cash just to play video games for 10 days
 
i think you should get some audio books or something to learn another language, or maybe some special intrest books just to like learn something new. i don't know what it would be, but you could just search for a subject that intrests you and just learn everything possible about it.
 
4k for lying down on a bed for 10 days? I'm sorry but... unless you're filthy stinkin rich... that is the best deal I have EVER heard.
 
seriously, that's not that big a deal - i sit on a computer like 18 hrs a day which is pretty much the same thing.

of course i don't get $4000 for doing it. is there any info you can send me on making this kind of money? i'm very interested.
 
haha i know thats basically what i would be doing anyways so why not get paid for it. hell i'll test out anew drug for 4 grand. I found out about it by an advertisment in the newspaper, they post them all the time for random shit. its easy ways to make quick cash
 
seriously dude, use this time to learn something new on paper... If i were you, i would get a bunch of books on the stock market and just read them, trying to learn as much about it, and how it works, and how it can make you money. Im trying to learn as much as I can, but work and socilizing and sleep and everything just takes so long, its hard to read alot... i only ever get 30 pages done in a day... Or read about other cultures or get some books full of pictures of the world and do some exploring from your bed. If someone gave me 10 days of paid doing nothing, i would use ever second of it to expand my mind and learn something new.

Plays. Get some plays and read them. They can transport you to other places in ways that books and movies never could.

How did you get set up with this study anyways?

19 days? nothing? 4,225 dollars?

go work hard somewhere north or secluded for a month and make more money, and have more fun than lying on your back?

and, are you allowed to lie on your side?
 
I'd rather lay on my back for 19 days and make 4 grand instead of work my ass off for 19 days and make 4 grand.
 
yea i needed the money fast. and no other job really around here can give me this much money in such a little time. And yea i can roll around and stuff im not required to jsut lie on my back, i just have to be lying down.
 
they think they're not gonna hang out with him until he takes like five showers when he's done.

o yea and i forgot to ask, can you change clothes? i think i know the answer is yes, but idk
 
DAY 1

Ok, so I just got my first dose of the " study drug. Basically i just had four needles in my abdomin. It wasnt exactly pleasent to say the least, but now i have officially started the lying down for 10 days straight, and no, i cannot get up. Yes I can change if i need to but i probably wont too often. And my friends think its kinda cool, a little weird but they would do it too if they all werent headed off to college. SO now im lying here flat with this laptop above my head and i've started the 10 days of "bed rest." word up.
