Im a lodge rat

there are only a few times i would go into the lodge and these were mainly living on the east coast growing up skiing everyday at my local hill.

-if it was pouring rain we would go play cards/eat/hang out until the weather rolled by (or go penguin sliding and call it early)

-if there were girls from other surrounding schools to hit on (middle school mostly/ or HS if they were really worth it)

-i would sometimes take a little longer break in the evening if i had been riding all day and stayed to ride at night.

i guess those were really it. i rarely if ever go into the lodge anymore unless i really need hot water for my food, ran out of water in my pack, or have to take a shit.

I'm a fan of going into the lodge for a long lunch personally. I'll either choose to have an early lunch or a late lunch depending on how hungry I am or what I had for breakfast. During lunch I like to sit down and enjoy myself. I'll usually spend 30-ish minutes sitting, eating, talking, and getting ready to go back out.

But I don't see the reason to sit in the lodge for so long! Also, I usually park my car under the park chair at my home mountain, and make a quick trip to the store down the road about a mile to buy a few $1 corndogs instead of a $10 lodge burger, and it's much faster.

i always spend more time skiing. but if its a sunday afternoon and i have a shit ton of HW due monday ill bring the ole laptop hook up to wifi and get HW done. ive even gone on NS while at a ski hill!#@@! haha

or if its super cold but super cold (super cold is -10f, in that range) ill spend time inside warming up.

hmmm of the 6-13 hours i spend on the mountain consistently 6 days a week all winter. I spend a max of 15 minutes a day in the lodge, if i go into the lodge its to grab a burger or other food item to eat on the lift ride up.

I have a feeling that this will be a

not me! damn i'm out there from the moment i get there, grab a sandwich from my mom, eat it on the lift, out til close. can't waste moments like those!

Actually, going in lots at my home mountain isn't that bad because I go there lots and it can get boring some days. It's annoying though when you are at a mountain you drove over an hour to get too.

Hahaha so true.
Sometimes I find myself sitting in the lodge for an extra 20 minutes after lunch, but I always regret it once the day is over.

the most time i spent in the lodge was the time to nuke my tv dinner i brought and eat it, i peel the orange on the lift

only stop by the car to get more beer or hard liquor or to eat a sandwich. if i feel like chilling i go back in the woods or the cave we have

I hate taking breaks. When people need to go to the bathroom I'm like "YOU CAN GO LATER, WE'RE SKIING!"

I'd probably skip eating anything if others didn't want to stop for something. And I' rather just go to my car, leave some lunch in there, eat real quick then get back to the hill anyway.

wtf is wrong with you i drive 3 1/2 hours to snow and im famous to all my friends there for almost never going in. does not matter if it -20 or raining i try to ski all day everyday.

When it's very cold, I admit it i'm kinda like a lodge rat. I can go to the lodge every 5 runs and stay there for at least 20 minutes each time but it's only because I'm cold as fuck.

Other than that I'm always on the hill but I like to stay an hour in the lodge each day to take time to eat and talk with people.

Anyone else ever go in when you are skiing alone in the vain hope that a buddy will be just suiting up in the lodge?

After reading this thread, while nearly dying of skiing withdrawal, I now pledge to ski every waking second I can this winter, pack my own lunches, and bring energy bars just so I never see the warmth of the ski lodge the whole season.

i went into the lodge twice this year. once for lunch/rest after a railjam and once because my friends and i had brought some girls and they were cold.

my crew gets to mountain later after a late breakfast and ride until lifts are closing without any stops

Haha, I like to show up early and leave late, I probably spend about 30 minutes in the lodge a day to warm up and eat (a homemade) lunch.

Depending on what I'm eating, 0-30 minutes for lunch and however long it takes to put on my boots.

not at all

alot of the time i wont even eat lunch so i dont have to waste any of my skiing time... but then again if i could go skiing every day things would definitely be differant

well grouse is pretty notorious for having terrible conditions. on the really bad days I have spent hours and hours in the lodge, but if the weather is anything but terrible I'm active all day, eating my bagged lunch on the chair

Well, if no one is up there and the snow isn't great and the park is the same beat shit, as usual, I may go and hang in the lodge for a little, but not awhile. However, some pow days I eat lunch on the chairlift. I remember when we got 11 feet of snow in five days during the season, I just kept three slices of pizza in my pocket and ate it on the lift- worked out great. I do sit in the lodge when I hurt myself. I had received shin splints and I sat in the lodge for the WHOLE fucking day icing my leg. It was horrible to watch people ski and see tons of people I know walk past me and ask what I was doing.

east coast(mount snow)= tons of lodge time, wake up early, eat a mountain muffin in the lodge, put on boots, go ski for a bit. back inside to eat lunch if its cold, ski for a bit then end the day playing xbox and chillin with homies on the couches

west coast(the canyons)= no lodge time, wake up whenever get to the mountain and start skiing(unless its a pow day). ski for a bit(4-6 hrs usually) and if you ski til at least 3pm you can usually grab whatever is left for food at the sun peak lodge but thats the only time id ever go in the whole time i lived there.

same.

but at the same time, do whatever you want, i choose to ski, you can sit if you like. plus less people crowding the park for the rest of us :)

Living in the Pnw, on days when it rains i find myself spending lots of time at lee's summit grocery. If you ski at snoqualmie you know what i mean

I'm a lodge rat too, only that I only go in the lodge for like 15 minutes around noon to get some food. And then I go back out to the hill.

Only exceptions are if I'm with family, friends, absolutely beat, or injured.

i have to defend myself here.

i live about an 8 minute drive from my local hill. its a tiny shitsplat on the east coast. its not like im driving 3 1/2 hours to keystone after a 10 foot snow dump and then sitting in the lodge the whole time.

also, i know all the people who work there and get free food.

i guess thats not much of a defense. but whatever, im a lazy fuck.

I'll be honest... after like 14 days straight skiing in Japan we were having some long ass lunch breaks... like 3 hours or so, just waltzing into a hotel and sitting in their lounge watching the winter Olympics.
But they had sick night skiing, so we still made 8 hour days out of them...

haha I can vouch for this. I think between all the days I skied with you we spent a total of 15 minutes in the lodge just for water

Who goes in the fucking lodge?

I have only been in the lodge ones this season cause i had a little accident in my pants from overshooting a jump.

Oh peeing and shitting in the woods in the winter is only for real men!

I spend as little time in the lodge as possible. Bathroom, eat. That should be the only reason I go in, unless I'm waiting for night skiing or a rail jam to start.

Ski man! why waste your time sitting around when your on the ski hill?

i always bring a lunch and stop for half an hour. i love skiing too much to just chill in the ghetto ass lodge at my mountain. but i cant ski while im starving

same here when i ski for the whole day i always pack a sanwich and a juicebox in a pocket of my jacket and eat it on the lift

Im not pissed off about people being lodge rats but i dont know how you do it.. The only time Im in there is the start of the day, we grab the food we want and throw it in our pockets and head out. i know ive eatin chicken fingers on the lift about a thousand time just tryin to save ski time
