Ideal mounting position for a touring setup

For shreditor 112s i would go with -2 from center on the logic that those skis ride much better closer to center than at traditional in my opinion.

If I remember right, there's a few lines on the Shreditor.

How much are you planning to tour vs inbounds on the setup?

There isn't really much point in mounting further back for skinning efficiency when the ski's got a fairly generous twin rocker profile.

Best advice going right here. Quoting for emphasis.

Be sure to calibrate your thinking about "how you ski" to the terrain and situations where you're planning to use the setup. For example, I don't ever worry about trying to center mount with tech bindings, because I'm not interested in skiing switch on them.

agreed. The shreditor 112 is a great ski, but a really shitty touring ski. No reason to try an put lipstick on a pig by messing with mount locations for the sake of touring when you are really getting this to ski down.

Agreed, keep in mind that mounting for how you ski really has to do with where your center of mass is -- you want it over the point where the ski wants to flex from. Since there isnt much hardpack in the backcountry, you tend to lean a little further back. Mount the skis at -2 and you can ride them a little more relaxed since the binding mount is adjusting your weight for you. Its a pretty playful ski... so maybe dont go much farther back than 2.5.

BTW, if you hate your mount, you can shim your toe piece to give you the effect of moving the binding forward...seems counter intuitive, but it works. In ski racing we call it the gas pedal.

I'm on the 112's with Gaurdians mounted 2.5 back and they've been great

So coming back to this thread, I'm going to be using these skis as much if not more inbound's than out of bounds/touring skiing. Would I still be able to ski bigger lines comfortably if I mounted these skis at center? The reason why I am wondering this is because I will also be using them for a lot of booter sesh's, skiing switch, and jibbing, and I can't afford another pair of pow skis at the moment

Maybe not--there's at least a shred of reason for having a quiver of skis. Some skis and mounting options are better for some conditions.

That said, mount for the majority, and deal with it the rest of the time.

People used to ski so much with 212s--you can pull it off on a more center mounted ski.

Some food for thought on this to consider - is steep terrain...how much do you see yourself skiing steep couloirs and chutes? I like to be more centered over my skis on steeper terrain so I can kick turn easier if need be or slip the run easier. Its also more stable for charging out too. I have always despised being too far back especially on long tours.

This... If you doing a lot of big technical approaches in firm conditions I'd go with the mounting line. If your skiing more deep pow, I'd mount where you feel the most comfortable.

For a reference, I mounted 192 JJ's 1cm from true center. I love the way the ski, but I occasionally do have issues with stepping on my tails when doing a kickturn in steep terrain. I mounted my 192 rocker 2's 2.5 cm back (still bout 1.5 cm forward from recommended) and I have much less issue.
