Idea=played

i know this thread automatically makes me a heretic on ns but i thought idea felt played. it felt like a snowboard movie from two or three years ago. the park sections were weak, except the barrel in the halfpipe. the no poles in the bc just made them look like wack snowboarders. i know this type of movie had to be made but it felt like they trying to copy snowboarders instead of being the innovative skiers that they are. plus its pace was too slow and made me want to go to sleep. basically, idea is overrated.

I have yet to see it, but the idea of idea (no pun intended) was to set a chill vibe and do some stylie tricks while being different. I don't really mind no poles...it's still dope. But whatever. It's not all no poles, so I think I will like it. But we'll see.

Yeah i agree somehwhat. I'st undoubted that the soundtrack was super original...the park segs were very weak, the backcountry stuff was sick, but agreed the no poles makes it pretty stupid. If they want to snowboard just buy a board and do it...don't get me wrong it's not a bad movie but I don't think progression of our sport requires ditching the poles...

First, if you want a park movie go get Yeah Dude or something, thats not what Idea is striving for. No one promised banger after banger, thats not what Idea or skiing in general is about.

Second, you're right, progression doesn't require ditching the poles, but it sure as fuck opens up the doors. Im sorry that you're still so attached to your crutches...

i didnt like it my first 2 times watching it. but i love it now.

the director commentary is pretty interesting to listen to

It still hasn't come into my shop yet. Why did you get it and think that you were going to see lots of park?

yeah i agree but i think the concept is pretty good even though i didnt really like the movie. it was a lot too mellow for me.

I didn't like the park seggies, or really the BC jumps, but the BC riding was better than anything I've ever seen in my life. Made me want to just jump on my skis and run to the hills.

Definitely not played, but not what It's kinda been hyped up to be.

It's just a good ski movie, not some revolutionary thing that will change the world.

I loved it, the soundtrack was dope, really good, chill vibe. The skiing was amazing.

To the people who are saying the park seggys weren't very good, you guys obviously don't get the point of this movie. This wasn't meant to be your average msp or poorboyz movie, with tons of gnarley park skiing. Idea was about 3 skiers who just did their own thing, and had fun with it.

The first time I watch idea I didn't like it very much but then I watched it again. Now I've watched it around 8 times in the past two days. I'll say that I love it one of my favorite films. I thought that the BC stuff was just amazing , the park stuff was good as well considering it's not a park oriented movie.

Yeah, but that doesn't mean that they were good. Sure it wasn't meant to be a "Park" movie, and was supposed to be all chill, but I didn't really like the park bits. And it wouldn't be better without them because then it wouldn't be an accurate representation of their season.

the first time i saw the movie it was amazing, the second time amazing, and the third time still amazing.Over-all i was super stoked on the movie. The tricks, the editing, and cali p for the music were all really well done.

by far my favorite movie this year.  hopefully iberg continues to make these types of movies

i thought it was one of the sickest movies out there. The park scenes weren't huge, but they were way stylish. they were also way innovative with what they were doing off of cliffs. Its just a mellow stylish movie with a laid back soundtrack.

well if you grab the new issue of K2 SKEEZE then you can read why they made the movie, really sick article.

the point of idea is to show you the perspective of skiing through the skiers' eyes, it wasnt meant to be a park specific vid, personally im a big fan of no poles.

I respectfully disagree with your opinion. I like that NS can have different opinions on topics. Even if they aren't the right ones.

....

i guess everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but i completely disagree with you.

idea = the titties.

if you wanna see that no poles is a bad idea, just watch them getting on the lift at the beginning of the movie, way easier with poles

pollard absolutely made the movie, without him it would have been nothing. he always has been and always will be the most progressive skier in the world. i was really dissapointed in pep. i thought his section in 1242 was was way sicker than any of his shots in idea. andy mahre is just andy mahre.

people that dont like this should go watch some surf videos and then grow the fuck up. U little bastards make me sick

well since everyone thinks idea is like the best movie ever then yeah it is played and overrated.   it was definatly a great movie.  but for their skills and creativity they could have and should have done much better.  i was way dissapointed they didnt do much park, urban, or any rails at all on helbents.  the powder was cool and all, but when its just that for the whole movie it can get kinda old.   and i definatly wish it was more about fun.  i was totally suprised that when pep, andy, and pollard made a pretty damn serious movie.  i was expecting something way cool and fun.

Really? 'Cause I though pep was amazing, his massive rodeo tail in the oregon seg and his 9 in the utah seg were really sick, and in the baker seg when he spun like mad off that tree, shit was crazy.

i just feel like his shit in the past was way more groundbreaking than all the stuff he did in idea. i remember watching 1242 and seeing him do those huge 180s off cliffs and both way switch 5s, my mind was blown, i'd never seen anything like it. maybe i had too high of expectations for idea.

well yeah it was pretty upbeat in some parts.  but it was just so damn calm and serious sometimes, and they all seem like the most fun people ever so yeah.

There's a difference between calm and serious.......

calm is the instrumentals in Idea,

serious is like linkin park or someshit like that

I just got it yesterday, and I was pretty happy with it. I liked a lot of the shots they did. However there was an overabundance of 180 to switch landings in the powder, kind of like when you've had two pounds of wings and a schooner or two of beer. The music was cool, I just didn't like the cali p tracks (I'm probably the only guy on ns that really doesn't like reggae). It' was kind of like Toy Maker working with blankpaper productions. No poles is still something I've yet to fully embrace but I'm pretty sure staying with poles isn't how that one mongoloid before said "clinging to your crutches". It's just a different type of movie, while Yeah Dude! is like a one night stand of straight up vaginal spelunking at the bar or club or something with a fine ass lady, Idea is more of a night out with a really cool lady doing fun stuff with a yadda yadda yadda end of say no more.

yeah dude they had to like push a little bit harder!  shit there is no way im gonna go no poles, just imagine how terrible it would be to push just a tiny bit more!

idea wasn't made to have the same vibe as every other movie out there - it was made to be different, which it did - very effectively.

i thought the park sections were dope. The immacualte cork 3s. mahres rediculous flat 3 and switch cork 3. some very interesting styles and interpretations on tricks.

personaly i loved it. the mount hood meadows kicker session was awsome, and i love the barrel in the half pipe. I dont know if anyone else feels the same, but i thought it could have being longer..but still awsome

A great movie to watch while winding down at night when you get home...hypnotic. I love it.

If you didn't like Idea, you're entitled to your opinion, but I don't see how you could really enjoy skiing and also not appreciate Idea on some level.

I thought it was good because I saw it in a bar at copper and was drunk and a couple girls sat down at our table and I didn't really see much of the movie.

Two thumbs up!

I thought is wasn't very good. If that is what played means than I agree.

It only had 3 skiers in it and then some other guys who no one has ever

heard of before. The 3 skiers aren't even X-games quality skiers I am

pretty sure. I think I only saw 1 skier spin more than a 720 and if we

want this sport to progress we need to start spinning faster and bigger

with more rotations. How many times can a skier do a 360 or a 720

before you want to see them do a 1440? If they had filmed with better

skiers then they could have made a better movie I think. And the film

quality looked grainy in some spots. I think some of the guys weren't

even using poles or maybe used really little ones. Only some of the

music had words and none I have ever heard on the radio before.

Overall, i can't discredit it too much though because it was better

than my movie and this is probably the first real movie the director did.

Does anyone know where Erin Ingberg came from by the way? Did he work

for another production company?

I hope this is a serious post. Not even going to bother justifiying this with any further answer.
