Idea=played

I think one of the most mind blowing things was skiing techy lines without poles. I don't know if you've ever tried to ski a sketchy line without poles, but it's not easy. In fact, it's really really hard. And what they really pushed instead of technical tricks (not that there weren't lots) was style. Smooth flowing style is also really really hard. IMO, there are only a handful of pros who have the ability throw down with such aesthetic beauty as what was shown in Idea.

ummmm....

wow. Not much to say, you obviously aren't serious or don't know what goes down in the skiing world that's outside warren miller and olympics/x-games. This was supposed to be a movie with a chill vibe, not some super extreme film where it shows the most spins athletes can do or the most degree of anything...it's about style and fun.

oh yeah, well I watched it again and I can tell you something for sure. they do not take skiing seriously. the whole time they were kidding around and pointing at each other. i guess if your definition of "style" or "steese" is being lazy and only doing easy tricks like a helicopter or a 540 or a 720. if someone was going to make a real ski movie then they need to showcase the extreme parts of our sport. how can you do that if you dont even have the proper equipment? i am am almost 100% sure that 1 of the guys (at least 1) was definately not using poles in some of it! watch it and look closely and you will see what i am talking about. unless it was some sort of special effect, but that wouldn't even make sense.

either way, you have your opinion and i will have mine. and to your point about warren miller and x games, those are the 2 most important aspects of our sport. they represent what skiing is all about.

Hahaha Feschies, way to go. That actually sounds like those guys on the TGR thread about Idea. That was funny too.

Yeah, it was kinda cool, but there wasn't any real creativity, and the jump was covered in dirt and all melty. It wasn't really eye candy like the rest of the movie.

So you look for how-the-jumps-are-made-and-look-like in a ski movie? Way to go!

seriously, idea was the most progressive SKI movie made ever.

Yeah man, I only ski and shoot on park jumps that have massive tits & reliefs of 8 dykes playing twister naked sculpted on the deck and walls.

Well said. It's just that ns nerds hype, hump and whore every aspect of skiing until it doesn't turn them on anymore, and they want to see next years stuff. The season is barely beginning and everyone is talking about next years topsheet graphics already, and calling Idea "played" Wtf? It's the first ski movie of it's kind, filmed on the first skis of their kind (Hellbents and EP Pros, yeah I know about the rockered AK's but the Hellbents are different)

Just sit back and enjoy the progression comrades, skiing is entering a new era, let it flow without flaming on skis/tricks/styles just because you've been reading about it on ns every day for a week.

i got my copy of idea the other day and i have watched it about 10 times. for me it is the most amazing film i have ever seen for a couple of reasons. first of i am not a park skier, and the film showed me what can be done just fucking around in the bc. second i found the fact that only 3 skiers (and what 3 skiers) were in the movie made a lot of sense. i mean some of the shots in the film could not have been in a MSP film, they wouldn't fit. i enjoy a MSP film now and then but idea is different. it had tricks that made me say "I am trying that this season".

i understand why some people don't like it, but you can't bash it. and most of all you can not compear it to anything ever done in the ski film industry.

that is my opinion

Crap. Didn't mean it to come out like that. No, I don't care that much about how the jumps look or are maintained, but If I see snow melting lots I kinda get sad.

The actual skiing should be good on such a generic jump like that, and in my mind it didn't, so I started looking at the scenery, which also wasn't amazingly nice looking.

My opinion.

I found the PC park seggy better. But neither were really that amazing. Luckily the movie wasn't supposed to be about park, so it was still a great movie.

surf videos are boring.

no sport is ever going to be at the level that skateboarding is, film wise.

if you dont like a ski movie, just watch a skateboard video...someone manage to figure out the formula yeaaaars ago. skiing has yet to accomplish this.
