i believe it does, im gonna be doing it all on mini DV either way though

...and ehearth, correct me if im wrong but dident you have a FX 1 and got rid of it?

im planning on going mostly on the tape because mini dv's are so widely available and i can get them for next to nothing. the downfall is they occasionally drop frames and it does compromise the quality of the recording.

when recordign to a card, it rarly, if ever, drops a frame, and the quality is 100%. however, it burnes through space soooo fast ide be swapping cards every lift ride. i know this sounds lame but, i know ill be loosing the cards, seeing as how small they are, and they are still pretty expensive. im not one to talk seeing as how i just bought a 3,000 doller camera, but i dont want to be buying more cards all the time, haha.

and ill get back to you on the adapter.

i thought only the Z7 and z5 come with a the memory card capabilities. I remember I really wanted to buy a Z7 but just didn't think it was quite worth the cash. Wutev.
Any reason you chose the FX1000 over the XHA1 or HMC150?

none at all, im might get hated for this, but i dont care, i dont know that much about the cameras themselves, i can film, and im planning on learning

Congrats dude, thats a sick camera, i used a student loan to get an xh a few months back. It was a struggle between the two for a good while, just went with an xh because i knew someone with one otherwise i might have went with the fx

if anyone wants to throw money down a well, i.e. give me some cash, im trying to buy an hmc150. its gonna be sick, i just need to rob a bank first!

now i know allen is gunna go nuts on me but id watchout for the hmc, its a DOPE camera no doubt and it has everythign i want in that pricerange. I would get it over the xh or this anyday BUT...its AVCHD, idk how bad that really is but i have heard a bunch of negitive thigns about it even recently. Could be wrong and would love to be proven wrong but i still prefer tape over that. P2 cards would be dope but you would have to rob 2 banks

its true, its had a bad rap, but panny has got its shit together and is getting so much bitrate out of the AVCHD format now. yes, it can be a problem for certain editing suites, but more and more of them are hopping on baord. FCP, CS3 and CS4 and the new Vegas can all deal with it. if not, its not too hard to convert using something like toast. yeah, the hpx170 would be sweet, but i cant afford that, or the p2s, furthermore, the hmc produces a better 720 image than the hpx, while the opposite is true at 1080. i would need to rob 2 banks and NASA in order to have the computing power to deal with hpx footy at 1080. dont fear the asian! haha!

you got a $3500 camera, yet you dont know much about cameras? im not hatin, im just currious why you fealt that you needed it. Im a fairly experienced filmmaker and i shoot a hv30. Id get a better cam if i could afford one, but the hv30 works fine for me.

well i had the money, and ive been wanting one forever, and if i dident get it then, i doubt i ever would. i consider myself a pretty good filmer. i just dont know what some of the knobs and buttons do. and i can use final cut express like a champ.

you'l do fine, just take some time playing around. when i got my vx2100 i knew nothing about...well anything...i just liked filming shit and editing and when i got hurt for a season i decided to spend some cash.

sometimes the best way to learn is just by experimenting and figuring out what works for you, instead of listening to other peoples version of things.

Yeah you learn shit every time you use your camera, some help at first is nice but really you learn everything from experience.

I did the exact same thing as you, got hurt and knew i was gunna be out for the season, always liked filming and editing and figured why not, im in college and if i didnt splurge now i never would. my first few days were kinda sad but after that i got the hang of it just RTFM (Read The Fuckin Manual) and you should be good. Did you get it in yet?

The more experience you get behind your camera the better. The best way to learn is to take a shot you are not sure of then go home and look at it. If it sucks then the next time you are in that situation you will know not to do it. But maybe it will turn out better than expected.

nope, i got a package deal from B&H photo and vid, it dident ship, so i canceled my order and got a refurbished one for way less, itl be hear monday or tuesday

picked it up for 2,600. some "cosmetic damages to the camera" so long story short my credit card did'nt accept the payment, itl be here friday

so i got it this morning, i geuss they forgot to mention that it dident come with a charger. so im gonna spend the rest of the day hunting one down

you didnt get a dc in or whatever cord? like a cord that plugs from the wall to the camera. that will charge the battery.

Why the fuck would you choose miniDV over flash drive? You want your footage to look like crap just so you can save the $200 it would cost to buy a hard drive and back it all up?

well i considered that, than i realized that theres no such thing as a flash drive for a HD camera. it sucks that i wont be able to just rip the 1080i footage of the mini DV's to the 1tb hard drive i have sitting next to my macbook.

maby next time?

lol nice.

But what do you mean by no such thing as flash drive for a HD camera? Lots of HD's have a flash drive and most of those are flash plus removable flash.

not that its a very good excuse but i was smoked stupid when i wrote that.

the great thing about the fx 1000, along with most of the camera's being made today is i can record to mini DV, and i also have a slot for removable memory. im hesitant to invest in that because the largest size sony makes at this time is 16gb i belive and this time next year thell be a 26gb for the same price.
